It depends on what kind of rite I'm performing. I favor my athame the most though.

Civillian13: I have that Isis blade. She sits on my altar and I rarely use her.
I usually use a black-handled dual bladed combat dagger that I bought about 13 years ago, now. Crazy! That was my first athame and I was so excited to bring it home and dedicate it. I cleansed it and to consecrate, I painted it with my blood and buried it in the earth for three days. I enjoyed being so dramatic back then.
I use a wand in public rituals that require we either peace-bond blades or not bring them. It's just a hand-sanded wooden wand. Plain. Lovely and comfy.

i have a wand that was a piece of drift wood. perfectly smoothed by the great lakes and fits perfectly into my hand.

It truly just depends with the circumstances and what element I want to use to direct. I generally place wand with wind and Athemae with fire and if I want to compell somehing or threaten,.

Hmm. I'd have to go with both. Or neither. Depends on what I'm doing. I own both an atame and a wand though. Must get some pictures of my pretties for you.
