He smiled, leaning in to nuzzle her, and he moved closer, forming his body to hers. Then he lowered his head to his paws, and looked at her from the corner of his eye. He chuckled, turned his head to her, and licked her cheek. "Good night, my dearest."

Curled up with him, able to feel his heartbeat and hear his breathing... this was the best lullaby she could imagine. She was the luckiest lioness in the world. Laying her head down for the final time that night, she purred a bit. "Good night, sweet prince," she whispered before dropping off into the best sleep of her life.
