((Picture of Caelum here-[x], cert coming soon!))
Azure eyes flickering open, the great lion surveyed the landscape calmly. He lay perfectly still on a patch of lush, green grass, the blades gently tickling his belly. Not a cloud dared to float in the sky, the sun dominating the vast blue heavens above him. Nearby, a large lake lay still, its waters deep and unfathomable. A light breeze wafted around him, causing waves to ripple lightly over the water and his mane to flow around his shoulders.
But not even the breeze could keep the heat from hitting the lion hard. The sun burned down upon his back fiercely, and even though he was used to living in a hot climate, he still felt a little uncomfortable. That was why he had chosen to lay next to the lake, so if it got too hot he could always take a quick dip. With a deep sigh, he allowed himself to relax slowly, ignoring the scorching air.

It was hot. Far too hot for Ispata, who huffed irritably and cast an annoyed glance at the cloudless sky, wrinkling her nose and baring her fangs in silent disgust as she padded through the grass. If there had been clouds, or if the sun were less bright, or if there had at least been shadow, she would have been less annoyed, but as she stood, it was far too hot. Shaking her head, she sighed and pressed onward.
The lake was her destination. She wasn't sure if she intended to swim or do anything more than simply drink from the cool waters, but she knew for certain where her path was leading. The lake was well-known and a common enough watering hole, and she reached it without trouble. A soft, satisfied huff escaped her. Finally, something cool. As she stepped down to the water's edge, she caught sight of another, not too far away from her. Stopping with her head midway to the water, she looked at him, appraising him before lowering her head the rest of the way and lapping at the lake's surface. Male. Colours fairly similar to hers, she supposed. Not that that was important. He could wait. For now, she wanted to cool off.

A quiet padding of footsteps alerted Caelum that someone else was there. Raising his head, he noticed a female lion drinking from the lake. He watched her silently whilst she drank, not wanting to interrupt. He knew how boiling it could get when you had dark colored fur. As a sudden ray of light hit her tail, he was blinded slightly as it reflected off a silver ribbon that was wounded around it. Her ears too had small tufts on them, unusual for lions.
When he thought she was almost finished drinking, he lumbered up to his paws and stretched. The muscles rolled under his fur, showing the underlying strength quite clearly. He had to admit, he was showing off a little. "Hi there, I'm Caelum." His voice was a pleasant, deep rumble as he introduced himself, blue eyes observing her reaction carefully.

Ispata continued to ignore the male up until he directly approached her. Glancing up at him, she appraised him coolly and listened to him speak before saying anything herself. He was decently built, she supposed, not that it much mattered to her. Flicking her tail with a sly smile, she inclined her head at his introduction and licked a paw and stretched luxuriantly. If he could show off, so could she.
"Good day, Caelum," she answered simply, taking a minute or so to finish her stretch before looking up at him again. "The sun is hot," she added before sitting down and all but ignoring the other lion. True, he looked nice, that couldn't be denied. But Ispata was by no means a bubbly, friendly lioness like some of the younger females, and if Caelum wanted information from her, he'd have to work for it.

Caelum lifted an eyebrow as the lioness suddenly let out a luxurious stretch. The corners of his lips curled up slightly into a wry smile as she evaded returning his greeting. This would be an... entertaining evening, that was for sure. Well, two could play at this game that was for sure, and he would make sure to enjoy every second of it.
"It is pretty hot." He agreed, blue eyes sparkling. Although usually a big, overprotective brute, this lion was one to appreciate a nice female. "And may I ask what such a fine lioness is called?" He slowly sat down, the sun reflecting off his mane. The sly grin was still prominent on his face as he watched what she would do.

She didn't miss his wry smile, but she felt no desire to indicate her knowledge of it and sat down to watch him instead. What Caelum thought was a game might prove to be more difficult, and have less straightforward rules, than the lion might think at the moment. Not that she was about to indicate anything of the sort. She gave him the barest flicker of a smile as he sat as well.
"You may ask," she answered in a voice laden with disinterest, inspecting her claws and ever-so-delicately nibbling at an itchy patch on her side. Looking up, she gave him another of those barely-there smiles. "But she might, in spite of your flattery, elect not to answer you." Baring her teeth in a grin that was half-friendly, half-spiteful, she sank down and rested her head on her paws, flicking her tail so the silver charm caught the light and shone brightly.
"No, I suppose that is rude of me," she said after a moment. But she didn't bother to give him her name yet. "My apologies."
Another pause.
"I am Ispata."

Caelum noticed her mouth flicker slightly as he sat down. So she was paying some attention, although her game seemed to be based on very different rules from most. He chuckled lightly as she evaded his question. A good conversationalist, by the looks of it. Even if he would never see her again, at least he would be able to have a quirky enough chat with her. It was nice to talk to another lion, he hadn't seen any for a while after all.
Suddenly, a sudden flash of light struck his eye. Ouch. He winced, trying to see through the pain. Her charm appeared to be the cause, not that he was too sure. Moving his head slightly, causing him to shift his entire weight into a more comfortable position, he sighed as he could see again. A grin was on her face, but he couldn't tell if she was being nice or not.
Just as he was about to talk, she spoke again. He waited patiently through her pauses. Patience is a virtue after all. "Ispata, eh? That's a nice name, a little unusual I guess. Any particular meaning, or is that another thing you would graciously avoid?" His voice was pleasant as he said that though, showing he was only teasing. And had his face not been friendly, the sparkle in his eyes would have given him away anyway. It was impossible for him to cover up his true feelings, and he knew it.
