Hey Everyone! I just wanted to fill you all in on some of the changes that we've been implementing over the past few weeks to help organize and freshen up this guild:
*Spektral Rulebook: One of the biggest things that I've found annoying about this guild was the rules. It looked messy and unprofessional. So, I've reworded things, gave it a new title, and revised some rules so that they are more fair. I've also added a separate section, detailing the rules of punishment and termination. I've also edited (with some exceptions) the main colors of text to Vermilion and Cerulean so that they can be read better (And they are the school colors too).
*New Forum: I've decided to include a forum for additional stories and roleplays. Also, I've renamed the tenth forum, the seventh forum, the first forum, and the second forum because they needed it so badly (The previous names were unprofessional and ugly).
I'm thinking of also putting in a new roleplay story to keep us busy while waiting for people to post in the other stories.
*New Homepage Picture: As much as I liked the last photo, it's been up for too long, the new photo gives a brighter cheery look associated with the mood of the guild. Also, it's a good change from the last photo.
*School Motto converted from Latin to English: Yes, I've received complaints from new people not knowing what the guild's motto was because it was in some unreadable language. Although I've originally chosen the Latin translation because of the way that most colleges have theirs in, I've realized that it would prove bothersome if I put what it meant in parenthesis. So, I've just rewrote it in plain English, easy for everyone to understand.
*Spektral Series One: Yes, I've also edited the Guild's main storyline's title because we have more than one story arc in that humongous forum. When this story ends, I've been thinking about creating a second series arc so that way, people can begin anew. Hopefully we'll have more people to help boost this story so that it gets as big as the first one is.
*Inactive Member's Banned: As many of you probably know, I've been getting fed up with inactive members. Inactivity shuts a guild down, slowing progression down to a point where it's members leave or quit. So, to help solve this problem, I've eliminated those members that just joined a guild, to join a guild and not participate. I've been keeping track of recently joining members to differentiate between those that recently joined and those that have been here for more than a couple months and have posted jack. And those that I or a Vice might have accidentally banned, we've brought them back after sending an apology letter.
*New Hours: This guild is now operated year long. I used to shut down for the winter-times due to everyone being busy during that time and no one being able to post or roleplay, but I've realized that this causes problems each year that I do it, mainly because members think that I'm shutting down forever. We could be roleplaying during that time and having some fun. So, from now on, the guild is always open. And joining members are expected to still participate. If you have a problem with not being able to roleplay during a certain time or a certain day, talk to me about it.
*New Vice Captain: It seems that many of you don't know who neon-neon is. A long time ago, neon-neon (otherwise known as Liz and back then known as NeoNeon), was a highly active member in Spektral, contributing many story arcs, and also some solutions to problems the guild was having at the time. She has also shown good leadership capabilities and had to leave for a time. I've invited her back as a Vice Captain because she had a lot of good ideas to help bring Spektral back onto the main floor and after reviewing her ideas, I thought I'd give her a chance and see what she would be able to do if she had a little more power. And so far, the guild has been slowly restored to full status with her help.
*Revamp of Profiles: Currently, I'm in the process of updating the profile forum. Today, I've converted the pictures that stretch the pages of the forum into URL format, due in part to the old format stretching the page so that people who roleplay using a laptop (like me) don't have problems scrolling down consistently. If you want to view that person's image, just click on it to view.
*Homepage Cleanup: This is something that neon-neon (Liz) has been helping me with. Forums that are old and not as important as the rules, have been compressed into one forum and those that are lesser important, have been sent to the guild's old threads forum or archived. This doesn't make the Homeforum look cluttered or confusing and thus the problem of going 'cross-eyed', is reduced.
Hopefully with some of these changes in place, the guild will operate like a clean, well oiled, well kept machine. If there are any problems that you are having with a guild forum or anything related to the guild, please don't be afraid to contact me through a PM. I'll see what I can do to fix it.
Thank you,
