In my opinion, Ginny Weasley is a decent character, although I feel that her character development seems to have been fastforwarded a tad too much ever since the Order of the Phoenix. From the timid girl in the Chamber of Secrets, she has suddenly changed to this boisterous girl who's willing to take anyone (or anything) on. It's rather hard to imagine her changing in such a short period of time, actually, but it could be plausible as there was a one year lull during the Prisoner of Azkaban- she wasn't featured at all there, was she? Perhaps she already possessed such a personality before this (we can't be sure, as we don't have anything on her before the Chamber of Secrets), but she was too shy to speak around Harry before this? It is more plausible that way, rather than a fastforwarded character change.
It's really not that crazy of a thing. I went through something similar. I was very shy and quiet my freshman year of high school, but by the time I was about halfway through my sophomore year I was...just....crazy insane. I was loud, opinionated, and I didn't care who heard me say what. So I think its pretty realistic for Ginny to have possibly made a quick personality change. Its a teenager thing-- we are still trying to find ourselves.
Which brings me to my next point.
After
reading skimming all of the posts in here, I have come to the conclusion that Ginny is perhaps the MOST realistic character, at least of the kids. She does have quick personality changes; she does have a few selfish type moments; she is a little hypocratic and indecisive; she does mask her insecurity with bravado; she is annoying and does get in the way AT TIMES; and I've noticed that even third graders have at least 15 boyfriends/girlfriends before the year is out (more than I have EVER HAD.) All of these arguments that you come up with just reinforce that she is like a
normal teenager. I like it. Most of the time.
I think that whoever said that most of the girls in here are just jealous is right. That is MOST people's problem when hating someone's significant other. Its the same with Ron/Hermione shippers too... Some people just LOATHE Hermione just because she "belongs" (if you will) to Ron, and they don't.
