Inspired by some our favorite reads and games. Tribute to all. Ah yes the Keepsake System. The first probable question is what are Keepsakes. Here I will teach you what these precious things are and why they are valued through the magical world of Termina.
Keepsakes are generally out of date magical artifacts left behind from the ancients who once dominated the majority of Termina. Each Keepsake has a latent ability that can only be activated by initiating one's Seishou (Spirit Energy) into it which will result in a produced magical effect. Keepsakes can range from many sizes such as daggers, swords, spears, pans, or even gigantic sized such as ships. Every Keepsake requires the Keeper to initiate their seishou into the Keepsake to activate it's effect, otherwise the Keepsake would be powerless.
Each Keepsake maintains a particular grading genuinely identified from E, D, C, B, A, S, and SS according to how powerful the ability of each one is with E being the lowest and SS being the highest and rarest. Of course it isn't the keepsake that makes up the Keeper, but the Keeper that makes up the Keepsake. Meaning just because a Keeper wields a higher ranking Keepsake, doesn't guarantee that they'll win the battle against a Keeper with a lower ranking Keepsake. Each one can contain an array of magical effects, but they are genuinely graded upon how powerful they are individually .
Those individuals who are able to to wield the Keepsakes. It takes precise control and balance in Seishou in order to successfully activate the ability of a Keepsake. Those trained to do so are known as Keepers. During the old world the Keepers were belonged to a race of people who possessed the inability to perform basic magic, only augmenting objects. And so with this ability they compensated for their inability by creating the weapons that could perform magic for them by activating them with their Seishou. The Keepsakes are the living Legacy of these people.
Keepsmiths are long descendants of the ancient Keepers, the magical smiths who were responsible for creating the Keepsakes and imbuing them with their magical effects. As descendants of an ancient race there are few of them in number. They seldom create new Keespakes for people, however if you can convince them they sometimes heighten the grade of an existing Keepsake usually in return for something helping them in a quest.
A Triple M is generation of keepsakes that is utilized for military purposes. Unlike normal keepsakes, their effects are designed to cause damage on a more catastrophic scale. As a result, these keepsakes usually require a large amount of seishou and a number of people in order to initiate the effect(s) of a M.M.M. The thing that these super weapons have in common is their side effects. No matter who's in possession of them, each one produces nasty side effects in surrounding environments that are near that force of impact. The reason behind this is because the magic produced from M.M.M's is unstable due to the fact that such a large amount of seishou is concentrated into a single area at once. As a result, these keepsakes were abolished many years ago from the face of Termina, however in some parts of the world, there are still those leaders who have relinquish possession of them.
