Slowly walking through the light snow, Lloyd looked over to Ama. "Well we're in the North now." He said looking around. There wasn't much here. A couple of trees in sight but mostly snow. "Shouldn't be too hard to search here. Anyone easily stands out." He commented. He spotted a little cluster of trees in the distance and pointed to them. "Let's head there. It's a good marker for us."

Shivering Ama nodded her head. "We sure are." Smiling she glanced around. So much white! She almost blended in with the scenery. Trees, maybe food was there too. A nice rabbit sounded delicious right about now......though finding her sisters would be a much better prospect.
"Alright, lets head out. Let's get out of here as quickly as possible. I don't like the cold so much. Besides I hear bad things about the helixs up here......."

Crest yawned widely, back arched and toes streched, shaking off the sleep. His breath came out in a soft, barely visible white mist in the cold snows of the North, and he perked his ears and looked around with his bright, blue eyes with an almost pup-like curiosity. His dark nose twitched against the air, taking in the new scents that had come along the night. But there didn't seem to be any change, for the land was cold and barren, with only a few bare trees in sight.

Trudging across snow, his toes spread wide to keep him from falling into the soft cold, he look around for signs of life. Even if most of the Northerners had grown as harsh and cold as the ice they lived in, some company was better than none at all. Unfortunately, he had yet to find anyone kind enough to take him in, and his body, covered with healing wounds from the sharp slashes he had recieved, was proof of the lengths others went to to be rid of him.

"Hm?" he thought aloud, cocking his head. His ears raised and pressed forward and he quickened his pace. Ah, yes. So his ears had not failed him; he had heard someone approach.

"Hello!" he called jovially as he went up to the strangers, spreading the snow about his feet around when his tail wagged furiously. One was a dark brown and cream, and it reminded him of the forests he had heard about. The other was a pure white helix with a shock of pink on her forehead, from which a spiral horn originated. He regarded them kindly enough, but not without some wariness, for he knew they were foreign to the territory, and who knew how aggressive they could be?

A low whine escaped him at the thought, and his tail stilled and curled between his legs submissively. He flattened his ears and lowered his head respecfully, and looked up at the strangers with wide, curious eyes, stopping once he was a few feet away.

"Yes. The cold isn't going to be so nice to me here." Lloyd responded, "As for the helixes here..... I've heard bad things about them too. We'll just have to be on our guard. Besides, they all can't be bad." As if to prove his point a younger, blue male approached them calling out.

"Hello to you!" He called back smiling, "How are you today?" He looked at the younger male taking in his submissive behavior. "I'm Lloyd and this lovely lady is Amalthya. What's your name?"

Perking her ears up at the voice she glanced in the direction of the oncoming male. His demeaner was pleasant enough, but still she kept her guard up, she had met enough bad helixes in her day to know that a face that appeared friendly could easily be manipulating your death. Remembering Hunter she shivered and eyed the adolescent. His posture quick to become submissive lowered her guard more and as Lloyd seemed rather friendly to him she let herself feel more at ease.

She smiled brightly when Lloyd introduced her, reminding Ama exactly why she enjoyed this older male so much. So overly polite.

Crest grew hopeful at the strangers’ response. They seemed friendly, which was enough to prompt him to get closer to them, taking in their scents and, with it, a bit of their history. His nose was sensitive and keen, and he could tell from smell alone that the male was old, the female young; that they had been together for a while, although they did not seem to be mates; and that they had traveled to many, if not all, of the territories. The last intrigued him the most of all, for while he had always wondered about the world and what was in it, the North held a tight grip on him, no matter how cruel its inhabitants were and how harsh its conditions, and he had yet to leave its borders.

G-good day to you, Lloyd! Amalthya!” he said to each in turn, bowing his head a tad as he did so, his voice rushed and hurried when he realized he had been so lost in his thoughts that he had failed to greet them properly. “I go by Crest, but you may call me by another name if it pleases you,” he said with another humble bow of the head.

He quickly eyed the spiraling horn on the female’s head and thought to himself that it looked as if it could kill another with a single blow. Next he glanced at the male, who, although old, must carry much wisdom. And although both had been kind, he was used to manipulative and deceiving intents, and hoped he wouldn’t do anything to provoke their tempers. “I-If there’s anything I can do to help, please ask,” he offered, an attempt to please them and, hopefully, keep them in his presence longer if possible, for it could grow lonely in the North, and quickly, too.

Lloyd spared a quick peek at Ama to make sure she was okay. Seeing her smile made him smile. Clearly she was fine.

"Hello Crest!" He said back shaking his head at the young male's bows, "No need to be so formal with me. A lady is the only one who really needs the politeness." He tilted his head at the male's strange request, for it was a bit strange that one in the North would offer his help so quickly.

"Hm.... we do need some help. Have you seen any Helixes like Ama here? We're searching for her siblings, you see."

"Pleasure to meet you Crest." She was puzzled by his actions and speech. How could he act so......she didn't even know the word to be used in this situation. Subservient? She would have to ask Lloyd later. Still even as she was slightly creeped out by his demeanor she found it pleasantly familiar. He was like the dear caretaker she left behind, the ever proper Ferey.

Her concern took over when he asked, basically flat out, if they wanted to rename him. So perhaps not in those words but nonetheless it was not sitting well with her conscious. "Yes my siblings were lost when I was but a newborn. I'm searching for them now." Her eyes softened at him, she would address his submission issue later. For now they moved to the reason she even bothered entering the territory.

Crest, noticing how they watched him with confusion, realized he had done something wrong. The North was cold and barren, and rarely did outsiders venture in with tales to tell. There were few who did, in an effort to liven up the place, but the North was far too vast and far too cruel for a few stories to do much good. Because of this, it never occurred to him that, in warmer, friendlier climates, helixes were more likely to settle down and tell tales. He remained unaware of the stories that circulated about the North, and its helixes who were said to be brutal and cold-hearted to survive in such conditions. And, as a result, he didn’t know his friendly, submissive demeanor caught them by surprise, even if he was aware that it was a rare personality trait to hold in the North.

This, added with the fact that he had not seen anyone who looked like a sibling of the helix Amalthya, made him feel worthless and defeated. Their first and only request so far, and it wasn’t one he could please them with.

He turned to Amalthya, gazing away from her eyes respectfully. “I-I’m sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, while t-there are many helixes here with a white pelt, I don’t believe any of them have siblings or… well, look like you….” he said, trailing off stupidly. Amalthya had a white pelt, and if another had a coat as white as hers, as he had said, then obviously they would look alike. But his eyes were as keen as his nose, and the subtle differences of appearance and scent between relatives were evident to him. And never in all of his time here had he seen a helix who had such fine features as the female before him. "I'm sorry," he repeated, but for a different reason.

Lloyd noticed a change in Crest's demeanor. Something they had done or hadn't done had made the younger male change slightly.

"No. It's quite alright. It was quite helpful knowing that you haven't seen them. Now we know that they are not in this part of the North." He said cocking his head, "......." He glanced at Ama to see if she was alright with this next suggestion. "It would be very helpful if you could show us around.... the area you know of course. We have no idea where we are going so you guiding us, even a little bit, will be a big help."
