Welcome to our little basket giveaway... Bring your paper, a pencil and a creative mind 'cause ya gonna need it!
Day loves Immi with all his heart. However, he does not know how to tell her so. One botched attempt and the shy flutter ran away from the WillowGlen herd and ended up almost crashing into Isriel. Her friendly nature and desire to help gave him an avenue to talk about his fears and issues. One thing lead to another and she ended up teaching him a little more than just that. Mortified, Day returned back to the glade that he lived in and confessed to Immi. She welcomed him back with a warm heart and told him that no matter what she would be there for him. It was then he finally confessed his love to Immi and found out how much she loved him in return.
But then Isriel tracked him down with important news. The stork had graced her with three baskets and, while she was perfectly willing to take care of them herself, she thought he might want to know. Immi immediately decided she wanted to adopt them into the herd but Israel would hear nothing of it. The events that happen after will go down in history...
So without further ado, here is the basket you are vying for:

The Father Name: Dayunsi Gender: Male Children: Miread, Plumeria and IzeshaLikes: Gardening, Poetry, Meditation Dislikes: Thoughtlessness, open spaces Personality: Dayunsi is a quiet, stalwart soquili who is blessed with a green thumb. He is a very good mediator and can be looked upon to give good advice. Dayunsi would like nothing better than to graze in amongst the thick forest trees, which accounts for the amount of twigs and vines that get caught up in his long hair. It is not proven but Immi believes he might actually be afraid of large open spaces because the few times she has asked him to join her on a journey he has declined, preferring to stay in the shady safety. He is now content to stay with Immi though he still can't quite tell her that he loves her. With the birth of their three girls he found that time has gotten busy for Immi and while he loves his daughters, and his adopted daughters, there had been little time for the both of them to spend together. After Zandali vanished one night Immi and Tai went on a quest to find the lone troll-foal leaving him to deal with the growing Mairéad and Lyrica. Not knowing who to turn to he left them in the care of Keridwynn in hopes that at least with a strong female presence they would grow up ok. Uppon Immi's return, with Zandali still missing, Day attempted to talk to Immi to let her know how much he had missed her and loved her. This backfired greatly and he ended up running away from the herd... The Flowersong Family Name: Imogen Gender: Female Children: Cadance, Juliet, Miread, Plumeria and IzeshaLikes: Singing, writing music, composing, dancing Dislikes: Agressive people, being alone, spiders, penutbutter Personality: Happy-go-lucky this sunny soul loves to dance and sing and perform in general. She is very bubbly and adores playing games and the like. When confronted or annoyed Immi has quite a sharp temper but her temperament changes quickly after, she rarely stays angry for long. Often amusing herself while thinking up new lyrics, this soquili has a few secrets up her leaves and will not hesitate to put them in riddles or other twists of the tongue just to see who is paying attention. This can be bad if anyone ever caught her eye as she would more likely be stalker material than actually getting up the courage to come out and say her true feelings. Immi is very maternal and is the leader of the Flowersong family as well as the WillowGlen herd. She lives in the largest glade of the forest and tends the flowers there. Immi has strong feeling for Day but as of yet hasn't admitted it to him yet... Name: Cadance Gender: Male Children: Bethari and EuterpeLikes: Running around and exploring Dislikes: Standing still, being lazy Personality: Cadance was a happy-go-lucky bouncing colt who liked getting himself almost everywhere. A bundle of trouble, Cadance got himself into more scrapes that Immi could keep up with. Malis actually grew to like him after he proved himself fearless enough to 'fight' with the troll. Immi was a little worried of the troll's influence on him but so far nothing had been proven to be too detrimental to his health. As an adult he has grown into a very handsome stallion. While he is still playful, a lot of his exuberance has worn of a little and he is slightly more prone to stopping and thinking before he moves... only just slightly though. Name: Bethari Gender: Female Likes: Attention, having a good time (drums) Dislikes: Lay-abouts, mud Personality: A little more personable and yet standoffish. This mare took after her mother, preferring the quiet and yet still a social butterfly. She doesn't like mud, or at least getting dirty and is often in the company of Xylia. While she did inherit her grandmothers singing voice, Bethari has found she likes beats and if she knows she is alone she will work out some hoof-beats of her own. her favorite pastime is to wander close to the two-legger villages and listen to the drumming there. Name: Mairéad Co-owner: Nio LoveGender: Female Likes: Dancing, the sun on the leaves, april showers Dislikes: Sadness, cold weather Personality: Mairéad is just like her father, personable and friendly with a passion for anything growing. While she is a little jealous of her sister's rainbow wings, she wouldn't trade her key in for anything. Her bright and happy-go-lucky nature sparks joy in everyone around her. She is much like the spring flower which opens up after the dreary winter. Like her mother, she enjoys dancing and almost every step she takes is a graceful addition to the choreography of life that she is the leader of. Name: Lyrica Gender: Female Likes: Stories, adventures, the ocean Dislikes: Gloom, sad endings Personality: Adopted by Immi and best friend to Mairéad, Lyrica is a lover of fairy tales and other stories of old. Mai and Lysica grew up together and often went to Malis' grotto for another yarn. She has taken to telling stories herself and would often come up with interested novels and ideas. Playing make-believe was their favorite pastime with Lyrica telling the story and Mairéad acting it out. Even now as they have grown older, Lyrica still loves to create stories only now she is telling them to others children.

The Mother's Side Isriel is the mother of this unexpected batch of foals. Despite not intending to be pregnant, she's thrown herself into motherhood headlong, seeing it as an adventure and a gift. At the moment, she is single and happy to remain so, though she more than encourages their father to be part of their lives. Isriel was raised to be independent and strong, and will instill the same values in her children, to the point where she will present them with the decision of whether they would like to stay with her and her family in the herd that is forming, or whether they would like to go with their father. She is loving and kind, but when she heard that Dayunsi's mate wanted to adopt the children, she really would hear nothing of it. Her children are free to choose which of their parents they would like to stay with, but she wants it to be known and understood that she is their mother and loves them very much no matter where they go -- but in the end, it's up to the children if they want to stay with her or Dayunsi and his mate. She is all for Imogen being an adoptive mother to any who choose to go to the Willowglen herd, she just doesn't want to be forgotten as their mother. At least one will be staying with her (Syrea) and one will be going with Dayunsi (Nidawi) so, at least, no matter where your foal goes, it will have company! =D The Herd: ICly, a herd is forming just when her children and her friend Viraj's children are being born, and she will be a key member of this herd, being its main healer. The herd itself will be called Hok'ee -- Navajo for abandoned. Its founders, Viraj and Einarr, are a Kalona and Kalona/Regular halfbreed who have distinct views on life and have chosen to start their own herd to reflect them. The beginning clutch of members have all been abandoned by the world in some way, hence the name, but this herd will accept any who seek a refuge and strong family connection, as many of its members also lack the latter. Viraj is the alpha of the herd and Einarr the protector; it has a small membership at the moment, as it is not officially created ICly, but they will be a very tight-knit group. The herd is actually solidified because of the impending children, and the attitude of the herd will be that "it takes a village to raise a child" -- ie, everyone will pitch in to help raise the foals, and though the children will know who their parents are, they will be able to look to all of the adults for guidance and love, as well as a sense of family, from the moment they pop from their baskets. The personalities in the herd will be many and varied, providing a balanced community of Soquili to help raise the little ones! In Viraj and Einarr's sections, you can see more reasons why they are starting this herd, and get a better idea of it. Some key players in the foals' lives on the mother's side: Viraj: The alpha of the herd. Not your typical Kalona, he is lazy and steady tempered, only moved to anger when it's something very important to him. He is the mother hen, the "papa" figure for the entire herd as it were. Snipped from Logue's plot thread: Viraj enjoys having others do as he says. However, he does not enjoy mindless drones; rather, his ideal "family" would be that of many obedient, intelligent Soquili. He does not believe that one has to be mindless to be loyal, and simply wants to use his power and intellect to lead others, although not necessarily in the most conventional manner. Having been deemed a "demon" at birth, and having been treated as such his entire life, Viraj initially believed that each race had a set way of acting. He expected Kalona to be evil, Angeni to be self-sacrificing and good, etc. However, since coming to the Kawani lands, he has been proven wrong at every turn. Now he is more open-minded to other races, willing to look past their breed and appearance to see who is really underneath. He still beats prejudice against skinwalkers for unnamed reasons. What he values, above all, is intelligence. He considers himself to be a fairly smart individual, and enjoys exercising his mind when he can. He also considers himself to be fairly powerful, and as such, will not hesitate to come to blows should he feel the need. Because of these two self-declared traits of his, he tends to meet a Soquili, and then immediately attempt to lure them under his wing. Einarr: The protector of the herd. He has a soft spot for children, though he often looks out for them in odd ways -- Einarr doesn't really think it works to tell people to do something for their own good, and so in the past, he has always intimidating and frightened others into realizing the inherent dangers in the world. The herd's influence has softened him some, and though he won't try to frighten the babies, he will watch them with a hawk-like eye and will not hesitate to scold them if he sees them doing reckless things that put themselves in danger. When it comes down to it, Einarr will only be violent in defense of himself or his herdmates, however; while he might yell and bluster at a foal that's wandered too far from the safety of the adults, the most he'd do would be to bop them with the flat end of his tail, and even then, that's more a sign of affection than anything. Einarr is a difficult stallion to get to know, mostly because he doesn't give anyone a chance to get to know him. Born into a herd of prejudiced and narrow-minded regulars, who scorned any of their members if they bred with another breed of Soquili, he was considered a demon child from the start. Not only did he have a wicked tail and horns, but as he grew older his fangs came in, and he had a taste for meat that none of the regulars shared. Confused and belittled for what came natural to him, Einarr grew tense and unhappy, often lashing out angrily at those who scorned him and sometimes attacking them. As a foal, it wasn't really a problem.. but the herd knew that he would grow. When he reached adulthood, Einarr was finally strong enough to do something about all of the anger and resentment inside of him. The herd recruited him as a guardian, having him prowl the outskirts of any resting place they had, in exchange for better treatment of his mother. She was allowed to eat and drink at the same time as the rest of the herd, and rather than being scorned openly, she was simply ignored. Though it wasn't what he wanted, Einarr's mother insisted that she was happy, and wanted to see him doing something good for the herd. Even if they hadn't loved him, she insisted, they had protected him, and it would be wicked not to do the same. It grew to the point where Einarr could no longer stand by and watch his mother continue to live under these conditions, and he decided that breaking away from the herd would be the only way to find happiness. He was strong enough to protect them both, he insisted, and pleaded with her to leave. His mother said no, however; this was the only herd she had ever known, the only way of life she had ever known. She loved her son, but couldn't leave behind the security of a herd. Disappointed and angry, and feeling that his mother thought he was inadequate, he left on his own, destination unknown. Along the way, he mulled over his mother's reasons, still not quite understanding why she would stand beside a herd that hated her, but coming to respect her decision because it did, admittedly, take more strength than running away. He decided that he would form his own herd, one that would never abuse its members for who they chose to dally with, and when they were strong and had large numbers, he would go back and retrieve his mother. Indah: Einarr's mother. She is quiet and steady, and will be a motherly figure to any children in the herd. She is the only one who can really curb Einarr's temper before it begins, though Viraj and eventually the other members of the herd will gain this distinction as well. She loves children and will play with them often, as well as give advice to any young mothers who ask for it. She considers the entire herd her family, and is the unofficial "grandma" of the herd. Aside from these key players, there is a large network of friends that will come to be family, so any foals sticking around with Isriel pretty much gain a huge insta-family full of all sorts of personalities. xD Some Soq who will be coming around regularly are: Celandine and her mate Kureno, Mihai and his mate Nakanadi (who will eventually join the herd), and Khajag, who will be having foals around the same time as Isriel and Viraj, so there's more babies to play with!

So... the moment you have been waiting for...
How to get your hands on this nifty little basket...
First you need to fill out the little form provided below. It will not be counted against you if you are not a Soquili newbie. After we'd like a little blurb or mini RP about the little basket in question. This foal could be raised alongside mine or with Isriel so we are looking for someone who will be ok with that *nods*Count me in! Name: Gaian name Soquili name: (Their father is from the Flowersong family, their mother's name is a deliberate misspelling of Israel, what would you name them?) How many Soquili do you have now? (and who are they if ya wanna list them *grins*) Why would you like this basket? What is your favorite flower and why? What kinda music do you listen to? Any favorite songs? (youtube links are always good) What is your favorite world nation and why?: Any ideas for plots? (Bear in mind these kidlets will be separated as one is joining the WillowGlen herd and the other is joining Isriel's herd) Do you like RPing? (not completely needed 'cause sometimes we can both be very slow RPers but it would be nice) RP prompts in the next post...

And a little bit of RP...
The last little bit is a small RP blurb. Please respond to one of these three prompts. You do not have to write a huge story but I'd like at least a paragraph or two *nods*
Prompt 1: Give me a short character description of the foal. How does he/she react around others? Are they helpful and supportive to others, do they feel the nurturing soul within them? Are they shy and quiet or more gregarious and friendly at heart? How does they feel about their mother, father and siblings, their extended family and possibly their adoptive mother?
Prompt 2: Israel gave Day advice, things happen, he 'grows up in a hurry' runs back to Immi and admits stuff. Immi forgives him and then Isriel tracks him down with the news which freaks him out a little. Immi tells him he needs to take care of them and offers to adopt to which Israel says "What? I don't think so!" You are a child of a family split between two herds, which do you chose and why?
Prompt 3a: (if joining Day) The Flowersong family revolves around flowers and music. If you could pick a theme-song about your foal what would it be and why?
Prompt 3b: (if staying with Israel) You are the first child to the start of a new herd. Small in numbers at present, you are part of the beginning. Are you a born leader, ready to take on the world or do you prefer living in the shadows? Would you become a mentor or a loving parent when you grow up? Will they love children or prefer to guard the borders?

This is not in any order, just by time stamp really...Darkmoon Dancer Count me in! Name: Darkmoon Dancer Soquili name: M - Akondo (meaning 'ambush') F - Taima (meaning 'thunder') How many Soquili do you have now? None! >.< Why would you like this basket? It's pretty, and I would love to get my first Soq as a foal because then I get to develop it as it grows. Not to mention, you guys seem pretty laidback and not very intimidating as far as joining a Soq family goes. xD What is your favorite flower and why? Water Lily, because it's one of the few flowers that grow on the water's surface (water being another thing that I like very much), and they just add to the already beautiful scene of a pond. They're just awesome <33 What kinda music do you listen to? Any favorite songs? Haha, that is a good question. I listen to a variety of styles of music, and instead of explaining I will simply link you to some of my favorites. El Tango De Roxanne (From the movie, Moulin Rouge) - Cleaning Out My Closet (Eminem) - Jam Session 2.0 (Mixed by Dumbfoundead) What is your favorite world nation and why?: Never really thought about it, but I love being Canadian ;D Any ideas for plots? I would like him/her to stay with momma. I think it will mostly depend on the foal's gender as to what plots I want to weave, though. So I will def. get back to you about it should I win! Do you like RPing? Yes! (I just find Soq a little intimidating, but I think this would be a good way of easing me into the community & RP ^^) Prompt 3b: (if staying with Israel) You are the first child to the start of a new herd. Small in numbers at present, you are part of the beginning. Are you a born leader, ready to take on the world or do you prefer living in the shadows? Would you become a mentor or a loving parent when you grow up? Will they love children or prefer to guard the borders? (I am assuming that it will be a boy, just for the sake of my sanity during this RP) For a few days now, Akondo has been curled up in his basket, peeking out at the world around him whenever he was sure no one was watching. He should have been ready to emerge earlier than this, but he just wanted to make sure he knew what he was getting himself into. But today was the day!
His soft nose poked out first, sniffing at the strangeness outside, slowly followed by the rest of his head. With a deep breathe for courage, and a simple flick of the head, the basket's lid flipped back and fell off, exposing the little foal to those gathered around him. He sat up straighter, ears perked up and eyes wide, gathering all of the information that he could. There were large faces looming in to peer at him and soft rushes of air caressed his face as they sniffed him in turn. He closed his eyes and allowed this warm feeling fold all around him and hold him close. This was love, he knew, somehow.
A few moments later the foal stood up shakily, gathered his courage and made his first attempt at a bound... and ended up tumbling head over heels into the small gathering of much larger soquili. Taking it in stride, Akondo merely picked himself up once more and began weaving his way through the many legs all around. Giggling to himself, the little foal's ears swiveled to listen to each member as he passed under or around them. He was already getting a feel for who and what each one of them was, in a sense that he was already absorbing their general feelings, knowing them at a very basic level before even learning their names. Intuition pushed him forwards until he reached his dam.
He had caught glimpses of her before, but now he stopped before her, tilted his head back and looked at her in full. She was beautiful, there was no doubt, and he knew that he loved her like none other. This, he knew, was where he belonged. Making his mind up to take care of his family, no matter what it took, Akondo leaned up against his momma's side and gave a great big sigh. Boy, was this exploring thing tiring!
I imagine the foal to be very protective, and very intuitive. S/he will be very good at interpreting what another character is like without necessarily being told anything about them, and understands how to deal with just about anyone in the most idealistic way. S/he will get into trouble, no doubt, for the change in manneurisms depending on who's company they are in, but they are not 'fake', as they have their own ideals and will not stray from them, they merely choose to interact in whatever way makes the other company more comfortable, or in a matter of violence, will intimidate the other more effectively. I -loved- the RP, it's very descriptive and warm ^-^~ -and- she is a soquili newbie.Aniira Count me in!
Name: Aniira
Soquili name: Eden (unisex) : Eden is the most beautiful garden ever known to man, so it is only fitting that such a beautiful Soquili should have said name.
How many Soquili do you have now? I have 3, as of late, though two of my mares are preggorz! Liella, Devicius, and Kanani.
Why would you like this basket? First of all, I must simply say that the family is absolutely gorgeous! The offspring of Isriel and Dayunsi will most likely be just as beautiful as their parents, so I won’t lie--the beauty of it all draws me in like a fish to water.
Second of all, I’m an avid lover of plots. There are already many plots revolving around the baskets and those who are related to them, so there will be many interesting RP opportunities. I’d look forward to RPing and developing an interesting personality for the foal, all the while tying it in to the plots already mentioned.
What is your favorite flower and why? Hmm… my favorite flower would have to be the orchid. All orchids in general strike me as exotic and beautiful, and I've loved them ever since I can remember. I love how they come in all shapes and sizes and colors--they can spruce up any garden in a snap, lending beauty and grace to an otherwise dull selection.
What kinda music do you listen to? Any favorite songs? I’m a lover of many genres, though I mostly listen to World, New Age, and Rock music. I’m in a band at my school, so I’m very involved in music, and I always have to be humming or singing something when I’m alone. Music is like air to me--I couldn’t live without it. Examples: ”Not as We,” by Alanis Morisette, “Trains and Winter Rains,” by Enya, ”Decode,” by Paramore I also love soundtrack music, and am in love with a few different movie soundtracks, including Avatar, Memoirs of a Geisha, and Repo, the Genetic Opera.
What is your favorite world nation and why?: I’d have to say that Ireland is my favorite nation. First of all, it’s amazingly colorful, in more ways than one. The landscape is absolutely beautiful! I also love the Irish culture, music, and folk lores. I've always been one to be easily entranced by fairy tales, and Ireland has plenty of those. Anything that has to do with fairies or Celtics, and I'm addicted. Any ideas for plots? My foal will go to Isriel's herd, because he/she will feel a deeper connection with their mother at first. They'll see the mother as the main figure of parenthood--the father will be unimportant, as far as their childhood goes. The foal will grow up without so much as a thought of its father, instead thinking of the males in Isriel's herd as the "fatherly figures". However, when the foal is old enough to understand that he/she has a real father, elsewhere, they'll start to question themselves. Why am I here? Why did father leave mother? Where is father? Does he love me? Or has he forgotten about me? These curiosities will cause the now adult child to become inquisitive to Isriel; they'll want to know about their father, and why Isriel isn't with him. This might spark tension between the mother and child, causing the child to secretly leave the herd in search of their father. He/she will complete a journey to learn about their father, and have no doubt that tensions will increase. I'm not quite sure where the plot will go from here, but I'm thinking that the child will meet with the father, and the other sibling, and feel slightly betrayed. But in the long run, the child will return to its mother's herd, albeit slightly changed. He/she will be more independent, steadfast, and strong-willed, but will stay with their mother's herd.
Do you like RPing? Of course! I love "creating" personalities for my Soquili, for I guess I view them as realer beings than they actually are. Tying a Soquili up in plots is very fun for me--it's like I'm creating a life for them, breathing life into them, per-say. It's fun to see where they go, and how they turn out. So even though I too can be slow with RPs, I'm an avid lover of them, and take on whatever comes to me. Prompt One RP Response to Prompt 1: (A note: Eden will be rather kindly and easy-going as a foal, but as he/she grows, and learns of his/her father, he/she will slowly become more independent and steadfast.)
Eden is a rather kindly foal, quick to please and eager to learn. She/he has viewed the world as full of possibilities from the very moment that they emerged from the basket--every blade of grass, every drop of dew holds numerous wonders and curiosities. A natural love of nature will be exhibited, and a desire to learn about every other living, natural thing. The foal will in no means be quiet--in fact, he/she will be rather outgoing and positive, shying away from nothing and embracing all opportunities. This might get to a dangerous point, however, for the foal will become rather trusting of Kalonas, a result of having them in their mother's herd. The foal might be a little blind to danger, but hey, that's what makes life fun. (This might result in a hazardous run-in with an unfriendly Kalona in the foal's future.)
As Eden grows older, he/she will become more knowledgeable and understanding of the world around her/him. This will lead to a desire to practice healing with herbs and natural remedies. However, the realization that he/she has a father elsewhere in the world will lend a rather melancholy mood to the young Soquili, and he/she will become rather distant until he/she decides to leave the herd in search of the other half of the family. Once again, the adventurous heart will come in, and the journey will create an uplifted mood for the young mare/stallion. After meeting the father, Eden will be a bit depressed because of the fact that his/her family can not live peacefully together, but will accept the condition, and will make a habit of traveling back and forth between the two herds, though staying largely connected with the mother's herd.
Therefore, Eden will be kind, compassionate, but fairly thoughtful because of the way that he/she understands things. Eden will never make an impulsive move, or an un-thinking action, but will rather think everything out, and weigh the consequences of the possible actions. She is always floating around the shop and has a nice concept for her foal. I'm a little worried about the "I'm thinking that the child will meet with the father, and the other sibling, and feel slightly betrayed" part of her plot ideas but I am sure it can be working out in such a way to make things work. Beautiful name too <3Lunadriel Count me in! Name: Lunadriel Soquili name: Muse'et or In'spire, or even Musée. Since Muse is taken. How many Soquili do you have now? 11 [Vapor] - The potty mouth [Icefyre] - The dragon [Elune] - The Nightelf (She can sing!) [Ziggy] - One of Elune and Toki's singing babbehs of doom [Hokee] - My first soq! [VasuRaj] - Hok'ee spawn! A foal in a stallions body. [Chidi] - Hates the snow, poor fella. [Lucario] - Poke-ee-mans! Livius - Result of a rando breeding, coincidentally. [Aylet Hashachar] - The morning star [Hiruki] - A momma's boy Why would you like this basket? FOR THE HORDE! *cough* I have admired Dayunishi for a long while. (It was around the same time you got his custom, that I had folded my original quest for a Gaia cosplay, after seeing someone with a similar mare idea. Since Dayunishi is very mother nature-esque, I appreciated him quite a bit!) Ami also has a mixture of everything I love in her heard, especially the trolls! Ones even named after the troll tribe. I would be honored to be a part of the family. What's more, I absolutely adore Indah from the moment I saw her. Einarr is complete with his mother by his side. I'd give anything to be tossed into either herd, and the plot lines that are involved with each. What is your favorite flower and why? Strelitzia is my favorite flower for many reasons. I've never liked common mainstream flowers. Typical that everyone buys their girlfriend a rose. It's been done. Many times. The strelitzia is exotic, and wild. It is commonly referred to as the 'bird of paradise', and is associated with the tropics. When in fact, it's origin is the bush of Africa. ^_^ What kinda music do you listen to? Any favorite songs? I listen to anything except gangsta rap, screamo, and country music with a beat you swear you've heard over and over. Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap <-- Ironically enough, my boyfriends favorite song too. He introduced me to her. I love him more now, for having such a finer taste in music. It shows he has a soft side. *sigh* =) Fix You by Coldplay <--typically don't like their songs, but love this one. Letters from the Sky by Civil Twilight Breathe Me by Sia Good Enough by Evanescence <-- love this one, so different for her 18th Floor Balcony by Blue October Twelve Kingdoms Opening Juuni Genmukyoku (Acoustic Version) <-- no words, but still a fave Postcards From Italy by Beirut It seems I like music that has emotion, and can move me. Violins and pianos, and things with any sort of Asian or Celtic influence. What is your favorite world nation and why?: Éire. It's a land of ancient castles, thick accents, and an almost mystical allure. When I think of Ireland, I think of magical things. I want to live there one day, so bad, that when I think of it, I'm almost drawn to tears. The grass is always greener on the other side, and they've got alot of grass! Lol. Granted, I'd have to learn how to enjoy the taste of beer. The pubs will be worth it! Any ideas for plots? We already have those that sing, dance, tell stories, grow gardens, play drums: I'd like for this foal to not have a lick of rhythm or gardening in her bones! Discouragement will be evident, as she will love all the talent of The Flowersong Family and long for her own. Dejected, the foal will think she doesn't belong, and ask to stay with the Hok'ee tribe. Here, she will get in day to day scuffles with Einaar. The little foal is always roaming the edge of the camp, looking for the day when her father comes to visit. Even though she loves her beautiful mum, she will long for the herd she knew. Someone will have to give in! She'll have to spend some time with her dad soon, or push Einaar too far. Even if just for a short visit, the young foal admits her desire to go stay with dad. She will likely cry, not wanting to hurt her mothers feelings. (Dad can have her on the weekends, hehehe, kidding.) Upon staying again with The Flowersong Herd, she will discover she does posses a hidden talent after all! She may not be able to sing, she still can't dance, nor tell stories, or make the forest grow. What a surprise it will be to find out what she can do. This will give her a personal victory, and reason to stay with Flowersong, where she always wanted to be. Do you like RPing? Yes! Increasingly as of late. Prompt 3a: Let Go by Frou Frou.
Musée tugged on her fathers trellis' of green hair. Like a game of charades, she bounced about excitedly, expecting him to know what she wanted. "Pssst!" she said in a whispered tone. That's it, she had a secret to tell! As her father leaned in to hear what she had to say, she blushed. A simple request, but the nerve to ask seeming a tough task. Upon his ears, her petite whispers did unfold, along with the stress that he remember each word.
The whispers were lyrics, for daddy to give to Immi. A musical giggle escaped her mouth as she finished sharing them. The intent of course, was for him to pass them along to Immi, in the hopes of hearing a song!
Oh, it's so amazing here
"This is where I belong. If you will have me." soft, wet eyes look up to Dayunishi behind her foal like smile, for she wasn't sad. "Daddy, can I stay here?"
Can she daddy? Will Immi sing her song? Have to admit, I'm a little biased here. Luna has almost won a basket from me twice before. I like her RPing style and she is always friendly and welcoming. I also like the idea of her first trying one herd and then the other. It also leaves it open to other directions later. The biggest downside is she has 11 soquili already (I like giving baskets to newer folk)Dragain Count me in! Name: Dragain Soquili name: Fleurite (French for flower, with 'ite' at the back; intentional misspelling of fluorite. Female nickname Fleur, male no nickname.) How many Soquili do you have now? 2 regulars (Brioso, Cabriole (co-owned)), 2 usdias (Grace (co-owned), Deusdedit) and 1 pending usdia basket! Why would you like this basket? For the mum's herd primarily. xD I have yet to experience the type of RP resulting from being born in a small, close-knit herd. Also I'll have to admit that the parents look stunning together! What is your favorite flower and why? The Vanda Miss Joaquim; its Singapore's national flower and one of the only flowers I'll never tire of looking at. What kinda music do you listen to? Any favorite songs? I like pop songs, and since I'm a hopeless romantic at heart, listening to love songs tend to make me all sentimental and emotional. xD I'm one of those girls who is still waiting for Prince Charming to sweep me off my feet one day! My favorite romantic song is Plain White Ts - Hey There Deliah. Of course, I appreciate some humor too, and my favorite will have to be Ray Stevens - I'm my own Grandpa What is your favorite world nation and why?: Singapore. (: I complain about the warmth, the humidity and the stress, but its still my home. Imperfect but still awesome nonetheless! Any ideas for plots? The child will feel indebted towards mum (and the parent-child bond is there from birth) rather than dad so he/she will choose to go with mum. However, because of the closeness of the herd, he/she will never feel like he/she is from a broken family. It'll be like being in an extended family with uncles, aunts and lots of cousins to play with! I have no idea for bigger plots though... They will probably come as he/she grows and is RPed. Do you like RPing? Yes. XD I RP a lot, primarily in Soquili now that my time is limited by school.
Prompt 3b {With a little bit of prompt 1; just a general overview on his/her personality. In this prompt, the foal will be male because its cuter. x3}
"And then, prince charming came to her rescue! He gave the nasty skinwalker a swift kick to the stomach before standing in front of the princess." Fleurite's eyes twinkled as he grinned, taking a step forward towards the foals who were staring, wide-eyed in anticipation, at him. Then, he jumped forward, bending over so that he was at the foals' eye-level before booming, "'STOP!' The brave prince yelled to the skinwalker. 'I will not let you hurt my princess!'"
He paused, scanning the small group that had formed in front of him, enjoying the tension in the air and the children's amazed looks; as an early foalhood teacher, there was no greater joy than seeing his pupils flourishing under his care. Most might say that such a job should be left to the older, more experienced females, but there should be no borders in passion! Besides, when he was younger, he never knew that this temporary position in the guild would end up being his permanent position... Such a noble job it is! He is raising the leaders of the future!
"'FOOLISH PRINCE!'" Fleurite snickered, pulling back his lips to reveal his teeth before letting out a laugh, "'You think you can defeat me? You are but a small fly, irritating and easily disposed of.'" He paused again, relaxing before giving a small smile, "Children, who do you think will win? What do you think the prince would do next?"
"Kick the 'kinwalker again!" Came the answer in the form of a chorus of foals. As one of them started chanting, the rest followed, "Do it, do it, do it, do it!"
"And that's what he did!" The stallion laughed before regaining his composure. Narrowing his eyes, he flicked his tail before stamping his hoofs, sending dust clouds into the air, "The prince, in a last attempt to defeat the nasty skinwalker and save his princess, gathered alllll his energy and... KICK! The skinwalker was thrown against a tree trunk and knocked unconscious. Seeing his chance to escape, the prince and princess quickly galloped back into their castle where they were never disturbed again. From that day on, the prince realized that sometimes, running away is the best option, especially when saving someone he loved. Of course, and they lived hap-"
"HAPPILY, EVER, AFTER!" The foals yelled, finishing the story before giggling and cheering. Fleurite laughed along with them, bopping some of them gently on the head with his head like Einarr used to do to him with his tail. Then, realizing that it was getting dark soon, the stallion gathered them, doing a headcount before leading them home; it would be bad if they got home too late from the nursery! He wouldn't want their parents to worry, after all!
"And I'll see all of you again very soon!" Love love love love this story <3 That and she mentions that the foal doesn't come from a -broken- family. That is something I wanted to stress and many people missed it (yes I kinda left it open deliberately) Overall I really liked the entry and the character this foal has. She seems independent like her mother and yet has qualities of Day in the storytelling and weaving of words.ArashiX Count me in! Name: ArashiX Soquili name: I think I'd most prefer to wait to give the foal an official name, male or female, after seeing it. Chances are, however, it will be one of my favourite flowers, perhaps tweaked [for example: Asphodel [M]; Asphodella [F], or with slightly different spelling.], or something that's Japanese, to tie in with their father... Something with lovely, perhaps darker connotations. I'll really have to wait, though. I find it hard to "officially" name a basket. If I win, I'd love to choose something and not potentially upset either of you if I change a name.
I hope this doesn't count against me. I've plenty of ideas, but choosing a good name to reflect the foal is important to me.
How many Soquili do you have now? I currently have five soquili. I co-own two out of the five with friends. >w< Arithyl and his son Danae I co-own with MMP and Leo, respectively; I love co-owning with friends. <3 Aleera, Adelis, and Aria's Rhapsody I own myself.
Why would you like this basket? There are many reasons I would love to have this basket; aesthetically, it's definitely my favourite out of the three, but more importantly, the story and family that come with this bundle of joy would be an amazing gift.
What is your favorite flower and why? I actually have several favourite flowers, and I have yet to peg it down to just a singular one. Most of them stem from Greece, and are combined with Mythology. *o* -Loves Greek Mythology, and other myths and legends.- One is based in Asian realms. I'll list them and give a short blurb with each.
Lycoris/Red Spider Lily/Higanbana-- Not only is this flower delicate and slender, but the accompanying Japanese myth surrounding them is beautiful. First time ever seeing it was through the ending to the first season in Inu Yasha, and I've adored it ever since.
Iris-- A Greek Goddess of Rainbows shares the name for this flower; there's something about it that seems fragile, but in the rain, it shines above any other. I like the symbolism of it.
Asphodel-- Greek Mythology states this flower blooms as Food of the Dead in the afterlife. I like it for its simple colouring and pretty structure. It's gorgeous, and I really like the thought of flowers blooming in Death.
Amaranth-- The humble amaranth envies the rose for its wonderful fragrance and deep beauty...however, the rose does envy the amaranth for it's "eternal" blossoms, as its beauty is fleeting.
What kinda music do you listen to? Any favorite songs? You guys sure know how to pick your questions. >w< I love a wide array of music, from country and rock, to Japanese and Russian.
One of my reigning favourites is Love Me After 12AM. I'm also a huuuuuge sucker for good classical music, instrumentals [Apocolyptica's rendition of Zelda's Twilight Princess is an awesome example] that really move me...favourite classical piece being Moonlight Sonata; however, I love the whole soundtrack for Juuni Kokki [The Twelve Kingdoms, easily youtubed, though my favourite is Shuurai, I believe; it has a whimsical feel to it that makes me want to sprout wings and fly away]. Inner Universe is another favourite...especially considering the video it's with. >w< FF ftw. Divine by t.A.T.u [along with others [All About Us; 30 Minutes, etc]. From Namie Amuro, Four Seasons and Come. Uhhh, one of my favourite country artists has always been Garth Brooks. The Thunder Rolls is one of my favourite. I loooove listening to thunder storms. *___* I Will Not Bow by Breaking Benjamine takes me to rock. On a more geeky side [and I'm not ashamed to admit my fangirlisms at all], there's Sunglasses At Night; older things like Love Fool appeal as well. I could probably go on and on. But I think, all things considered, I should probably leave it there. xD; Lest I insert more links. e____e You really don't want me to go on.
What is your favorite world nation and why?: Wow. o wo; Well, I'm Canadian, so I have to say it. Canada. One of the best countries you can find. <3
Close following is Japan, with Scotland/England/Ireland following close behind. *___*; Love the culture, the stories...and considering I have lineage in Great Britain, yeah. <3
Any ideas for plots? This little one, I think, would be prone to devoting his/her time between herds/families, though would be more inclined to stay with his/her mother and that herd. I love the idea of being part of a developing herd, there's so much room for plots, for new, outside characters to be introduced...just... Wow. Seriously.
Do you like RPing? Yes. I honestly do, and I hope and wish to get into Soquili RP more; it's a dynamic community. Starting in here would be both an honour and a pleasure, and I'm excited at the prospect. >w<Prompt 2 Israel gave Day advice, things happen, he 'grows up in a hurry' runs back to Immi and admits stuff. Immi forgives him and then Isriel tracks him down with the news which freaks him out a little. Immi tells him he needs to take care of them and offers to adopt to which Israel says "What? I don't think so!" You are a child of a family split between two herds, which do you chose and why? [For prompt purposes, I'll use one of my example names. Asphodel; a little boy. <3]
'Family...' Asphodel snorted lightly. Yes, he had a large family. Family was the key to his existence: what gave him joy and contentment to his very core. For such a young colt, he knew that was true. And he had two to choose from. The thought saddened him. Why couldn't he have the best of both worlds?
His eyes darted from his father to his mother, to his siblings, and back around again, this time encompassing the other members of his family. The herds he had to choose from. He knew he would be accepted, unconditionally, by either herd. But there was something about the Flowersong Herd...something that told him even though he would love and be loved there...that somehow, he didn't feel he would fit in as well as he would like.
Oh, but he loved all kinds of flora, and he loved their songs and laughter, their lightheartedness in the Flowersong herd. He doubted very much he'd have any talent in singing...the thought of doing it in public already made him bashful, even if he loved music. Something...was missing. Something about his mother's herd called to him. Acceptance, no matter what. Family, everyone was family. Family. ...family...
And it dawned on him. Asphodel looked up at his mother, bright eyes brightening.
"Mama...can I stay with you? But...I wanna stay a family still...can we visit Dad lots? Please?"
He would never really have to stay separated from his whole family. But his home would be with his mother. Two families. The thought warmed his heart, and he smiled brilliantly up, small tail swishing back and forth in his eagerness to receive his reply. He hoped to be like each of his parents one day, hoping for the best of both worlds, but knowing that he would forever be accepted. Hok'ee. It might have meant 'abandoned', but to him...it was home. Family. Acceptance.
Everything he needed to flourish like the flowers did. Again, I am really happy she snagged up the concept that the family isn't really broken, just in two different herds. The little RP prompt made me feel fuzzy too <3 Laroawan Count me in! Name: Laroawan Soquili name: girl - Vallaria (from Convallaria majalis. the scientific name for Lily of the valley) boy - Galanthus (scientific name for Snowdrops) How many Soquili do you have now? 1 Mali, with a basket on the way from her first breeding. Why would you like this basket? I'm a long time fan of Dayunsi and his family. I'd love a chance to RP with Ryn and Derivative and I have some ideas for where I'd like to take the foal in rp. What is your favorite flower and why? Lily of the valley. They smell sweet and make me think of little fairies. What kinda music do you listen to? Any favorite songs? I listen to a wide range of music. Though I usually get stuck in one genre or theme for a while. My current favorites are: Imogen Heap - CanvasLady Gaga - Bad RomanceMetro Station - Seventeen ForeverDropkick Murphys - Buried AliveKimya Dawson - Loose LipsWhat is your favorite world nation and why?: Don't have a favorite but I've always been interested in Ireland because of its Celtic culture and folklore and Japan because of the language, food and media. I'm also a proud Canadian, I've found it very inspiring to see how Canadians have come together during the Olympics and the amount of Canadian pride right now is amazing. Any ideas for plots? I'd like to have the foal be caught between the two familys. I would like to put her/him with Isriel to start where she will grow to be very strong willed and adventerous, always testing her boundaries and trying to push Einarr's buttons. At a young age I would see her rebelling against Viraj's leadership as she will see herself as a leader and will find it hard to take directions from him. She would then go Dayunsi's family and find joy in their music and dance, softening her rambunctious personality. As an adolescent she would feel slightly out of place with Dayunsi's herd but she would see the differences between the two herds, and learn to appreciate the importance of family. I would see her trying to return to her mother's heard to try to take on leadership position or trying to unite the two herds in some way as she will see the strengths in both of them. Do you like RPing? Yes, I don't always have a lot of time for it though. Prompt 1Assuming the plot I've imagined goes forward her personality would progres as she ages. Foal: She is very strong willed and cheeky and is not afraid to share what she is thinking. This often gets her into trouble in a herd where loyalty and obedience is required. Even with all the adults around to take care of her she will crave to be the centre of attention. What she really wants is her mother's full attention but her sibling and her mother's duties to the herd makes her feel like she needs to act out to get the attention she craves. She sees herself as a leader and tries to lead the other foals when she can whether in games or in trying to get them to help her pester the adults. Adolescent: She learns to love music and dance from Imogen developing a strong bond with her as she still seeks to keep a motherly figure in her life while missing her own mother. She dreams of being a great performer so she can get the attention she still craves. She also enjoys spending time with her father, learning how to tend to plants she grows more patient. The softer peaceful nature of the Flowersong family calms her and she is more gentle tempered around them as she doesn't feel like she needs to compete with a strong leader though she is always seeking dance and song competitions especially with her sibling. However, she doesn't feel like she completely fits in with them and misses her mother and sibling very much. This leads her to having "dark days" where her homesickness makes her more broody and the snappy wit she had as a foal returns. Adult: She realizes she cannot fulfill her dreams of being a famous performer but has a strong desire to lead still. She has developed a strong love for both her families as she sees how both of them have supported her through her life. She would probably seek to return to her mother's herd where she can challenge them for a leadership position. In her mind it would be a way for her to protect and grow her family. She wants to have foals of her own and also is very protective of foals in her family. note: edited for wording I like the RP plots, moving from one to the other but then ultimately choosing your herd. I know Laroa, she is a sweetheart and I'd love to have her as part of the family. The concept she has for the foal, at the begining and through maturity is really nice too.

Uta Count me in! Name: Uta Soquili name: Jordhan if male or Jordynne if female (deliberate misspelling of the name Jordan, which is named for the river that runs between Israel and Jordan) How many Soquili do you have now? I have quite a few. Bella, Eonine, Althalus, Cassiel, Nocturne, Numielle, Ecclesia, Azuell, Chetan, Chander, Amarii, Zara, Kalila, Kaiya, Shyam, Hadrian, Galahad & Nephthys. I co-own Ariashi and Xaivery. Why would you like this basket? Outside of Ariashi, I haven't actually owned a new soquili in over a year. The last soquili I won was Nephthys and that was around December of 09. Secondly, I've always wanted an excuse to write with Derivative and Amirynth. This would give me ample opportunity, even if the family is separated. :3 What is your favorite flower and why? I've always loved Easter Lilies. They're sort of common and everyone knows of them come easter-time but I think they're magnificent. They may not be as colourful as some flowers, but they harbor a beautiful fragrance and always welcome in the coming of Spring, a favorite time of mine. What kinda music do you listen to? Any favorite songs? I have a ton of favorite songs, picking a few is difficult. I Will Follow You In to the Dark - Death Cab for Cutie Cocoon - Assemblage 23 Caramelldansen - SpeedyCake Remix . . . I Will Not Bow - Breaking Benjamin What is your favorite world nation and why?: Not really sure I have a favorite nation. I was blessed to be born in the US but Canada was beautiful and lovely when I visited. I've always been intrigued by the South Pacific, as well as Australia/New Zealand. o.o Asian countries too, mwahahaha. And Europe would be divine to visit. . . Can we tell I'm a libra? Indecisiveness! Any ideas for plots? I can come up with plots. It's a little difficult for me to pin down plots right now without having interaction with the family(s) or settling permanently on a personality.
Offhand, I wanted to make his or her personality a little less super-cheerful and blindly happy. This could cause some issues with Isriel, or at least a little concern while a foal.
I also see this particular soquili trying to be close with its sibling, perhaps a bit co-dependent. Clingy due to abandonment issues, not that this foal was abandoned but . . . you know. It's still difficult to be separated from a parent and she feels a little abandonment from Day. . . even though it WAS her choice to go, she is conflicted. She loves her mother, Isriel, but she wishes the family hadn't been broken, that Day or Isriel could have been more obliging. . . .
If a colt, I'm going to keep him rather delicate and in to music and songs. He is drawn to music and flowers and more 'gentle' things, and doesn't really make a very good colt. In a herd with such strong males (and females) he is going to feel very out of place. He may face difficulties trying to prove himself to Viraj and others. . . though I guess he'd never be an outcast because that's what the herd is for!
Eventually I'd like for him or her to meet father and their lost sibling. . . But that's kind of obvious. More to come upon development. ;3
Do you like RPing? I love it. I think both of you know. I too can be slow from time to time but . . . .I try and love plots and family development.
As for a prompt, I really liked the idea of a theme song. . . but he's not joining Day's herd. o.o; So I decided to explain the colt a little bit through song-fic . . . For the most part, he's a happy little foal. He loves his mother, adoringly so, but isn't very strong. Not nearly as headstrong or outgoing as some in the herd though.
He loves to sing though, he loves music and the freedom it allows him. He would have fit great in his Father's herd, and yet here he is with his mother. He couldn't bear to walk away from her and as such he decided to bring some music and joy in to her life. He loves foals though and is more of a nurturer than shadow-figure. . . and he will perform for his herd as well, if only to boost morale.
Spell - Marie Digby I hope you don't mind but I chose to make it a song-fic really to explain . . .and get a feel for the character. I did cut the chorus out though, due to A. sleep exhaustion and B. I'm on a time limit and won't be back to finish before it closes.
Spotlight shining brightly, on my face I can't see a thing and yet I feel you walking my way The little colt finished his song, staring out at the few that watched him. It was something he liked to do, singing, and performing for his mother to make her proud. Sometimes though, he wondered if she really was proud. . . She was so strong and he was so small and so delicate. He wasn't a warrior, he wasn't a fighter, he really wasn't at all like Einarr or Viraj. Even compared to his sibling, he felt small and frail. . . easily sick and easily broken.
Empty stage, with nothing but this girl Singing this simple melody and Wearing her heart on her sleeve
But all of that went away when he was singing, performing. To put his emotions in to a song, to put music to his life, it . . . it was liberating. It allowed him to feel bigger and less afraid of everything, and if he captivated the crowd it meant they wouldn't leave. If he sang, they would listen. . . .
A shame he couldn't sing forever.
And right now I have you, for a moment I can tell I've got you Cause your lips don't move Something is happening Cause your eyes tell me the truth I've put a spell over you
It was all about talent, really, and his little melodies were something he obsessed over. He knew Isriel wasn't much of a singer, and no one else in the tiny herd seemed to be so musically inclined, which is why he strove to be the best. He wanted nothing more than to prove himself - so he was small, so he wasn't emotionally very strong or physically for that matter! At least he had music. . . it was something he could hone, his only skill and as an entertainer he could lift the spirit of his family.
Beauty emanates from every word that you say You've captured the deepest thoughts In the purest, and simplest of ways
He loved his mother, desperately so. She was his world, his muse in a sense, and everything he did was for her. To elicit a smile, to have pride glow in her gaze. . . Anything to brighten her day. Jordhan wasn't stupid, he knew that there was a void where their lost sibling was missed. A hole that could never be replaced.
It wasn't fair that he had had to pick. . . it wasn't fair they had to be separated. .. and furthermore, it wasn't fair that each parent had to lose a foal. Why couldn't they have compromised better? Why couldn't Isriel have stayed or Day and Immi leave the herd until the foals were grown? Why hadn't they just separated the baskets before any were the wiser?
Leaving it to choice was cruel. . . . No matter what, someone got hurt. Still, Jordhan loved his mother and everything he did was to make her happy. She was beautiful, wonderful, strong in spirit and mind. She was an amazing soquili and was everything Jordhan knew he would not and could not be.
But you see, I'm not that graceful, Like you Nor am I as eloquent
Compared to his mother, compared to his herd he felt clumsy and awkward. He felt like everyone kept an eye on him because they didn't trust him to take care of himself. . . he was too weak, too frail a creature. While beautiful, he felt like a raindrop amidst ice. Everyone was so solid and ridged, firm in their belief and positions within the herd. Unlike them, he was beautiful and shattered the moment he hit the ground.
He was not like them. . . and while everyone said it was all right, it still didn't help him feel connected.
But just a simple melody Can change the way that you see me
Performing was something Jordhan did Not only did he gain approval (or what he hoped was approval) from the herd but he himself didn't feel so alone. Strange that the herd was made of outcasts, and yet he felt the most outcast out of them all. Had he made the wrong choice to go with mother. . .? She wanted the family so much and had no one in her life. . . and yet. . . did she find shame in him? He would have fit in more with father's family, or so he could only assume.
And all my life I've stumbled But up here I am just perfect Perfect as I'll, ever be
So the little colt embraced his musical abilities. He wasn't the greatest singer, though he tried, and he wasn't the most graceful dancer (but again, he worked as hard on it as possible) . . . but he was who he was. Let the others defend and protect, while they slept safe at night he could sing them all with a lullaby or entrance them with a ballad. The more he learned about music the better he could weave his spell.
And they would love him for it. Right?
They would miss him if he left, they would feel empty if he was silenced.
Never would he have to be alone again. . . Furthermore, by singing songs of others, he didn't have to sing about himself. He could hide the guilt he felt for choosing one parent over the other, he could hide his fear of not living up to his mother's expectation or the herd's standards. . . . By singing, though all attention was on him . . . at the same time it deflected the real issues at hand.
In front of them all, lost within song, he could be anything. With music in his life, for a few minutes at any rate, Jordhan could be perfect. That would make Isriel proud. That would keep him loved within the herd. His weakness could be forgotten while entranced by the strength of song.
I like this one because it's a more melancholy soul, and I think there's a lot of potential for character growth with this personality type. Uta is great, but she does own a lot of Soquili... like you, I prefer to gift away to those who don't have as many. It's beautifully written, which is a big thing for me, and there is a lot of potential. So that's why I liked this one. <3 Logue Count me in!
Name: Logue Soquili name: Itali (for either gender)
A misspelling of Italy, a country known for its abundant, diverse flora and fauna (thanks to Italy’s diverse climate, as well as the large percentage of Italy that is land), as well as its famous music. Italy is widely known as the birthplace of opera; aside from that, it has been home to many famous composers, hence why music plays such an important role in Italy. How many Soquili do you have now? Two, officially; one more is on the way from Viraj and Lorelei’s breeding. Nakanadi, Viraj.
Why would you like this basket? I know these unique circumstances would make roleplay and plotting incredibly interesting; to work through the conflict Itali would feel would be a challenge and a treat. I would like to be able to roleplay a soquili that truly didn’t have the benefit of another parent; while they might be saddened or bitter over that, they would be able to find healing within the mass of adults in the herd. Growing experiences are always fun. Besides, it’s a beautiful basket. I love natural colors, and I love the blend of blues and greens. I’ve seen what Mindsend can do in breeding, and the outcome has always been gorgeous.
What is your favorite flower and why? That’s actually something I’ve tried to think about before; it’s pretty hard to choose, because I’ve always loved flowers. I think being born in spring had something to do with it. But, if I had to choose just one, I would have to say the Lotus. I love the different colors they can be, although my favorite will always be the soft, yellow-shaded ones. I wish we had some where I live, because the way they float on top of the water is so relaxing, and they’re so beautiful. Growing up, I used to live at a house that would bloom tons of flowers every spring and summer, and while we still have a few of those flowers, it’s nothing compared to my old house.
What kinda music do you listen to? Any favorite songs? I listen to a huge variety of music; my favorite types tend to be songs with the catchiest beats, sad songs, and dramatic, serious ones. Some examples are as follows:
What is your favorite world nation and why?: Russia! I have always been in love with Russia, although Canada is a very, very close second. I did a powerpoint presentation of Russia for my Civics class, and I just love the types of people there. I love the Russian language (I don’t know it, though), and I love the ridiculous detail put into their crazy churches. While I don’t think I’d want to live in Russia (I’d rather live in Canada), from afar, Russia is my favorite nation, the type I like to admire. Kind of like a… cactus? Maybe.
Any ideas for plots? (I’ll be referring to Itali as a male, to make writing go more smoothly.)
I see Itali as starting out to be a rather stubborn foal; he will insist on hiding any portions of himself that he can that would remind Isriel of their father, and of the fact that Nidawi will not be living with them. He sees it as his responsibility to attempt to heal her hear the best he can, although he often becomes frustrated with how little success he has. He will refuse to even attempt to sing, or try any sort of music, and he won’t view nature as anything special; in a sense, he’ll be forcing all of his natural interests and possible talents down in an effort to make himself, and his mother, feel better. Of course, this would backfire beautifully.
As he reached the “young adult” years, Itali would be fervently trying to learn to heal, like Isriel. He still wants to make himself in his mother’s image, to show her that he is only thinking of her and Syrea, and not dwelling on the fact that they are missing half of their family. He’ll use his rigorous training as a coping mechanism, attempting to replace sadness and emptiness with pain and exhaustion. Somewhere around this time, he will learn of his lack of natural talent with healing, and will become very disheartened. It is also around this time that he will begin to see himself for what he is, and will, slowly, stop trying to refuse himself for his heritage.
In his adult years, Itali will (if all goes as roughly speculated) have gained inner peace, as well as peace with his father and Nidawi, to an extent. He will use what he has learned through his life journey to teach the foals of the herd, having fully embraced his identity as one with nature and music. His position would be that of a pacifist, most likely, one who emphasizes the importance of respecting the earth and her inhabitants, as well as cautioning against nature’s whimsical moods. Aside from just teaching about nature, he would also attempt to instill some morals into the children, hoping to be there for them should they feel themselves grow astray.
Throughout his entire life, he would make no effort to bring the two herds together. At first, determined denial about the need to even do so would be blatant in his heart. Then, he would eventually become more focused on himself, after learning some important self-truths. Finally, he would gain acceptance of himself and of his sibling’s (and father’s) choices in life, and, rather than try to convince Dayunsi to bring his family to their herd, would want to bridge the personal gap between himself and the missing half of his family. He would become much more easygoing in his adult years, laid back, and would only hope he could make up for what he had done to himself over the years through preventing it in others.
Do you like RPing? Yes, I actually do love to roleplay. My attention can, and will, get divided between threads, and there are times when I will want to take a break from one thread to roleplay in another, but I do love to roleplay. I also love to plot! Depending on my workload/stress level, I may take a bit to reply to something, but I try not to let roleplays die, if I can help it. I’ll admit, there are times when I have taken a long break, which I wish I didn’t do, but sometimes… I just need a break from roleplaying one thing, to focus on another. My attention does not do well divided.

Prompt 3b NOTE: I am going to RP Itali as if he were a male. However, even if he ended up being female, I would very likely roleplay him/her in the same manner, although that is always up to debate. Never know how things are going to turn out!
-------------------------------------------------
He had been told he would have a beautiful singing voice.
Please sing, a foal begged, large eyes shining. Please sing for us. We heard your poppa is part of a herd that is great with music. Will you please sing?
It stung when they brought up his father so casually; when they spoke of his “other herd” like it was some sort of mistress, as if he were cheating on his mother. As if it were some tangible thing, keeping he and his sibling apart. Yet, even Itali knew that such an action would not be possible unless there were some sort of mutual relationship between the two. No, his mother and father had never truly been together.
As a foal, Itali had kept his mouth clamped shut, not out of stubbornness, but out of hesitation, fear. Out of a burning desire to be more like his mother, to become less and less of a reminder of his father. He didn’t hate Dayunsi, and he never would. But he would shove it away, stash it away, hide it away from his mother, that he felt anything at all toward his father. The less she thought of him, the easier he would be to forget.
“What good will it do?” he had asked, sullen eyes pondering the faces of others; expectant, hopeful, waiting. It made his chest ache whenever they acted as if nothing had happened. It made his mouth turn dry when he was asked to sing. Like your poppa’s herd.
“Please stop asking,” he had quietly pleaded, unable to look them in the eye. His voice, soft and mature, even for his age, had never once managed to convince them otherwise. It only seemed to encourage them. “Please stop asking me to do that. I don’t want to.”
I don’t want to sing for you. Or for anyone.
He had been told his voice would be like that of a bird’s.
It’s a shame, a mare's voice tisked, disappointment muted by a lack of true caring. If he would only give it a try – you know what I’m talking about, right? – that voice, it would be great, I’ll bet…
He wished he was deaf.
Talking that way, right in front of his mother – it frustrated him to no end, and yet, whenever he felt he might raise a true fuss, the whole idea would reveal itself to be useless, childish.
I understand how he wants to help. The gruff, familiar voice of their leader broke through his thoughts, muffled partially by the soft whistle of the wind. But it’s a damn shame, the way he insists on trying to learn to heal, like Isriel. He simply doesn’t have the knack for it like she did.
Itali felt himself bristle; it didn’t feel good, hearing something of that sort after having spent years trying to be something he wasn’t. Sometimes, he would sit quietly, underneath the comforting shade of a tree, or by the steady trickle of the river, and ask himself why he insisted on pushing half of his heritage away. What his true reasons were for quieting himself, making himself more and more of a shadow, and less and less of a man.
Don’t give up. Viraj had looked him in the eye when he said that, and he felt those words embed themselves into his heart. Yet, somehow, hearing the words he had always told himself from another brought a completely new meaning, and he wasn’t sure what it meant this time. He would learn soon enough.
He had been told to never stop trying.
“Please observe,” the dark stallion mumbled to the crowd of foals around him, gently pawing at a small circle of immature daisies. “Do you see? These flowers always bloom, every year, no matter how harsh the winter. Daisies are a symbol of patience, of perseverance. They know, despite the layers and layers of snow, that the sun will once again shine, and the rain will fall.”
A filly squirmed a bit, eyes shifting from the daisies to Itali, and back again. Finally, having seemingly mustered the initiative, she spoke.
”U-um, teacher? My momma told me she sang to me when I was in my basket, when I was a baby, yeah?” She hesitated, then smiled brightly. “And I remember it! I liked it a lot. Her voice was so soft, and warm… it made me feel less scared. She still sings me to sleep sometimes, yeah?”
Itali eyed her through half-moons, his habitually-neutral expression broken for an instant. After a moment, a soft smile graced his features, and he closed his eyes.
“I see. Then, shall we sing, everyone?”
The clearing was lit up by a chorus of voices, both big and small, and was carried by the wind throughout the nearby forest. When they were done, the foals and teacher headed back to their herd’s resting grounds for the night, the teaching done for the day. Itali had questioned, at first, whether or not he was really worthy of the task of teaching the herd the importance of the land they walked on, yet every day proved to only make his life very full.
He had gone to see him yesterday. His father. The two had engaged in one of their first, actual conversations in years, and he had walked away from it feeling more enlightened than he ever had before. He had only just begun to learn about himself, yet he was teaching others of things.
Please remember this, he instructed, casting a warm gaze over the tiny herd of foals. No matter how old you become, or how wise, there will always be room to learn. And… there is something else; please bear with me for a moment longer.
His class watched on, curiously, some fidgeting due to eagerness to explore the planned assignment for the day: a cave near the water, which beckoned to them with promises of mysteries and strange plant life. Their mixed faces held both promise and fear in his heart; seeing the uni interact so easily with the kalona was only normal in Hok’ee; it would be partially his job to assure that they understood how very different the rest of the world would be. He cleared his throat.
No matter how certain you are of yourself, you are never to be alone. Even the most beautiful flower will grow in groups, in pairs. Love yourself, love others. Have patience. Good things may not come to you immediately, nor should you expect them to. The very grass you stand on only grows because it refuses to stop, and you would do well to follow its example.
The foals nodded, some mumbled to themselves or each other, only half-considering the advice they had been given. Having already acknowledged that, he only nodded, turning to lead the way.
“Well then, class, I suppose that is enough of a delay. Shall we go?”
He was satisfied. He had planted the seeds of thought, of learning, into their minds. And one day those seeds would sprout and blossom, but only with the proper nurturing, and the perseverance. As he had learned from his long journey, he would try to teach to these foals, now, those who had grown up in a strange herd of mixed heritage. Those who would never be abandoned. As they traipsed along the edge of the water, Itali lifted his voice in song, and the others soon followed. They sang of everything and nothing, of idle things they saw as they walked. They sang as if they had never been told to do otherwise.
Daisies are a symbol of patience, of perseverance. They know, despite the layers and layers of snow, that the sun will once again shine, and the rain will fall.
And they have never been disappointed. This would be my sister's entry. I already told you I would have a bias toward her because she's my sister, but I also love how well thought out the entry is. There's a lot of effort and work put into it, and it's beautifully written, as was Uta's. I also really like the different take on a leadership role -- this I loved about Dragain's entry as well, which made it onto my short list. Again, this foal wouldn't be as vibrant or lively as my own, which I also like, to add difference in personalities and make room for growth and plotting. My list included: Dragain Darkmoon Dancer Arashi Aniira Uta Logue I think all of them have a lot of potential for character growth and plot, and I loved that a majority of them were not stressing the broken family thing. ICly, I have plans for Isriel to do field trips with the one (or both, however it falls) foal(s) so that they can visit their dad and Nidawi, and I like that many of them would be very open to that. Hopefully Day would do the same, to keep ties strong between them and make sure the kids always know they're family. If I were to rank my favorites, they would go: Logue Dragain Aniira Darkmoon Arashi Uta And though yes, a bias exists because Logue is my sister, I also really LOVED her entry. I know she spent a long time on it because she wouldn't let me near her while she did, lol, and I can tell a lot of thought and effort was put into it. Similarly, I can see that a lot of effort was put into Dragain, Darkmoon, Aniira, Arashi, and Uta's. They're all very well thought out with a lot of potential. That makes me happy. <3 And we will discuss more on aim!
