((Please note, Cocidius no longer wears his cloak.))
It had been some weeks now since Cocidius had come to the pack of Draug Faroth. For some reason the alpha male had taken a liking to the silent male and had, within a few days, entrusted him to care for the animals that roamed within the pack's territory and the ground upon which they themselves grazed and lived upon. Cocidius played a key part within the pack he had remembered the night he had spent with Haku, listening to the alpha talk of his love for his territory and members of his ever growing pack which he now referred to as his family. Haku had many stories to tell and Cocidius had a feeling he had a lot more that he would only tell a select few, perhaps in time they would bond closer but for now they were both content in each others company and entrusted each other with their responsibilities, Cocidius to care for his alpha's lands and Haku to offer the protection and guidance expected from an alpha.
Cocidius was growing to love these lands as much as Haku, he found them vast enough that he could in fact lose himself and not see another wolf for a day or two, simply content to watch and learn the habits of each of the different prey animals, learning what they needed and how the coped with a colder winter than they had had to deal with for a few years now. Aisling provided him with valuable information as well, the bond between the doe and the wolf growing grower. But after a few days of this solitary life Cocidius desired the company of his own kind again and he would return to his den to find his companion, Kalina. He did not know if he'd consider her his mate just yet, they enjoyed each others warmth and Kalina always seemed welcoming on his return though after a life without females Cocidius could not figure out what was desired of him as a mate to this female, though he did not push anything, everything came in time and they both seemed happy for now.
Now, it had been a few days out studying the animals when Cocidius felt it was time to visit Triton. Haku had spoke of the male and his role within the pack and what Haku, as well as his Beta HanGeng wanted the pack to be able to do. It was an original idea and one Cocidius would love to think could work, so after having studied the prey animals enough he wanted to meet this male and see if the pack was ready yet to try this idea out.
He rose from the outcrop he had been laying upon, watching a few deer strip the bark from the lower parts of young trees, carefully as not to spook them and turned as silently as a ghost and made his way up from the forest hunting grounds towards where the pack made most of their dens.

Triton was busy sunning himself atop a bit of slate that jutted out from the dirt, it armed ever so nicely in the sunlight and the dark blue wolf was blissfully happy with the warmth and the breeze that ever so slightly ruffled his fur. Bryna had wandered off earlier that morning and so he was pretty much alone near their den.
Later on he would head out to see if anyone wished to work on their hunting tactics, or perhaps just find a good conversation or two, in any case for right now he was more then happy to just laze about in the sun - hey every wolf, even one with responsibilities deserved to relax from time to time and Triton had found very little time to do this lately. Not that he was complaining - no he was happy here and he thought Bryna was too, Triton found this pack welcoming and warm, the land rich and beautiful - the perfect place for..dare he think it, pups someday - and to say he loved his job within the pack would be an understatement. Letting out a deep breath Triton watched the surrounding area with half lidded eyes.

Cocidius climbed the slopes towards the den in an unrushed manner, he had no set time at which to met with the male he was heading upwards to the den area to find and he always like to take it slow in order to take in his surrounds which always gave hints and clues as to the nature of the prey he managed and the land he cared for. He took one last longing look about himself as he broke the tree line of the denser part of the forest, indicating that he was now entering the now more dominantly wolf populated area. Of course there was still life here even though the larger game avoided the area which was now more scarred with the traces of the pack, the pack lands where vast but most of the members spent their time predominately in this part of the higher woodlands unless hunting.
He looked down and not far from his paw rested a pine cone which had been attacked by a small mammal, probably a squirrel, which now littered the hard packed soil. Winter was slowly giving way to spring, the scents of new budding growth hung in the air, yet the ground was still hard and in places where the sun could not reach ice and snow still lay. Lifting his eyes from the ground, he brushed the pine cone to one side absently and walked onwards.
He had a rough idea of the den layout though he wasn’t a regular visitor to this area and he took his time to walk about and to acquaint himself with the area. Finally he walked past the opening to one of the dens and off to one side he noted a large, deep water blue wolf lying in the winter’s sun. He approached the wolf but did not intrude on what looked like a pleasurable escape from his work, the pack was still young and members of every rank had to work hard at the moment to maintain such a large area. Cocidius was not a wolf that readily liked the company of other wolves, often preferring to be alone for extended amounts of time, even from Kalina but he wasn’t as gruff as one would expect and when we desired company he was eloquent in his language, the times he came across monosyllabic was when you approached him when he didn’t desired to be disturbed. Today and in this moment was a mixture of both for while he had been alone for some days now he was here on business rather than pleasure.
His voice was haunting and sounded like a mournful wind that gusted about the tops of the trees on a stormy grey day, ‘I believe you to be Triton, am I correct?’

Triton lifted his head and looked at the other wolf as he approached - it was not one he recognized and he would certainly remember a wolf with such unique patterning on his coat, he almost looked like a living moving bit of the forest, chuckling slightly at the thought Triton stood and shook out his pelt. He wasn't concerned with not knowing this other wolf - the oddly colored beast smelled like pack and the land Triton had come to recognize as pack. And his voice...it sounds well, rather sad actually though Triton was not sure what there was to be sad about on this fine day - of course he didn't know this wolf he told himself and it wouldn't be wise to judge him on first meeting now would it?
"You are" He told the other in a good natured voice "But I fear I'm not familiar with your name?" He stated his comment like a question in hopes that the other would supply it before getting to whatever business had sent him this way, Triton generally liked to know who it as he spoke with, made it much easier later on when recalling the encounter.

Cocidius was not a large wolf by any stretch of the imagination, average height and average build though he would like to think he wasn’t an all too average wolf. His eyes flickered across the blue coated male, he was large and slightly stocky in build but his voice held a great deal of warmth and an earthy sort of humour which caused him to take an instant liking to male he was going to have to work with closely. He nodded in head in a simple gesture and introduced himself, ‘Cocidius.’ He said simply then continued, ‘I believe we are to be working together, I have been appointed the task of managing the prey animals and the lands they thrive on.’ A slightly twitch of a smile appeared at the corner of his mouth, ‘And I believe you are the wolf training the pack members to hunt and kill the animals I care for.’
Cocidius was a wolf of the wild, he liked the wild open and untamed places they spoke to his heart and gave his soul reason to soar with joy. He had a love for all things but this also involved death, he knew it was vital for new life and for the cycle to continue and flow unhindered and even though he had befriended a doe who he had learnt a great deal from he also knew he enjoyed eating deer, respectfully and this was what he wished to past on to others.

What an unusual name Triton thought to himself as he attempted to commit it to memory, it shouldn't be too difficult an unusual name for an unusually patterned wolf after all. "Ah the Hunting Captain! Lovely, I was hoping Haku would send you my way soon" Triton started though he had to give a somewhat rueful grin at the others next statement "Well that makes things sound a bit awkward now doesn't it? " The blue wolf comments in a somewhat amused manner - although he didn't wish to the other to think he had no care for the animals they hunted, quite the contrary..he respected them greatly.
"It will be good I think, for both the pack and the woodland animals if we set this system up properly, I shall teach the wolves not to kill more then necessary and ensure the kills are clean and quick - and you shall ensure the populations are maintained at a good stable level. We will have the healthiest pack and the healthiest stretch of forest this side of the mountains yes?"

Cocidius smiled genuinely at the other male and his voice lighten ever so slightly, 'Perhaps it does.' but he continued with the jest and stated, 'Though you will be in essence though.' his eyes took on another light and he focused on the other male seriously and responded to the issue of work and responsibility. 'Yes, the lands are naturally rich with game. I have spent several days already surveying them but I must make one thing clear to you, I control the hunt in respect to what animal is brought down and how many. And you will answer for any mistakes made by any of the wolves for it is you that is responsible for their training and therefore their behaviour while on a hunt.'
Cocidius was direct and to the point, this at times may come off as offensive to other wolves but he did not mean it as thus, simply to set things straight and clear for, hopefully, no point of confusion. Cocidius released the blue male from his grasping stare and his tone soften though he was still focused on work. 'I have a Doe that I am bonded to, I shall take you to meet her one day soon, but no harm is to come to her, she aids me in my work. I also have being trying to bond with other woodland animals but as of yet have been unsuccessful. Hopefully with time though I will be able to form multiple bonds with the local animals and I can use them as a form of communication between them and us and also ourselves.'
((Hopefully Triton does not take offensive, but Cocidius can be rather gruff at times, though he means nothing by it.))

If Cocidius thought himself to be looking at a wolf easily backed down he might be surprised, Triton might be an easy going lovable blue giant most of the time, and he certainly knew his place in the pack - but he wasn't a push over, he'd backed Bryna down before when the need arose and while he might hold a bit of an advantage with her it was still no easy feat, and so while he arched a brow slightly at the others veiled promise of accountability he did not quiver or waver or otherwise shift his own gaze.
"As long as said mistakes do not stem from ill decisions on your part then I will stand by the wolves I train. Choose the target and the land well and there won't be any mistakes" He told the other in a humorless voice. "Likewise should one of them be injured due to choices made by you, well I shall hold you as accountable as you hold me" He concluded though there wasn't a hint of threat in his voice, he just figured since Cocidius had decided to lay everything out on the table right off the bat he'd go ahead and do the same.
When the other turned the conversation to a more gentler tone Triton was willing to do the same "The doe does not find it..offensive that you wish to hunt her brethren?' He questioned in genuine curiosity "I have never met a deer before"

Cocidius merely nodded, the formalities were now aside and they both understood one another and the matter was now at and end thus he continued with the other line of conversation. 'It's a strange bond, I can understand that but it seems to work. I have never spoken to her of killing her brethren, I believe it wise not to brooch that subject we both now the natural pattern of things and that's as far as the matter goes.' He smiled a little awkwardly at the male, wondering if he truly understood and if upon meeting Aisling he would understand, being able to put natural instincts aside and to be able to see how the bond worked and was a respected partnership more than a friendship.
He tried to explain the matter to Triton, 'Have you really have taken the time to really, truly watch those animals you hunt? I mean, really?' Few wolves would of really made the time to observe their prey animals like he did, there was no point, but Cocidius loved nature and it's wonders and thus had taken to spending vast amounts of time watching it. 'Do you no that doe's leave their fawn's hidden and go off for hours at a time to graze, the fawn is safe if it stays quiet and hidden. Though if the doe senses danger and even when their motherly instinct pushes them to go and collect their fawn sometimes their natural instinct to flee over comes this and they abandon their fawn.' Thus this was how Cocidius had found Aisling.

Triton certainly agreed that it was a strange bond - but he had heard whispers during his travels with Bryna of wolves with stranger habits and beliefs then Cocidius and his deer friend so he was willing to take the tree patterned wolfs word on the matter.
"I have studied their movements, I know where and when they tend to rest and move, their feeding patterns and preferences - the way they are liable to react upon being spooked...but other then that no I can't say I've spent much time watching them" Triton told the other as he listened to the other words his brow furrowing slightly as he could never imagine abandoning his own young regardless of instinct. "Its a harsh world for prey beasts" He admitted 'but it is harsh sometimes for the predators as well"

He smiled knowingly at the other and simply acknowledged Tritons statement, ‘That it is my friend.’ He had not expected the other to have taken the time, as he had, to watch other woodland animals and for what need did he have of such a thing, he looked down at the ground and smiled to himself, that was why Haku had given them the roles he had. Cocidius understood the woodland and grassland animals better than he did his own type, being rather gruff in nature and never really being comfortable in any wolves company, females even more so thus he concluded Haku was not just old but wise with his age and able to utilise the tools he had at his disposal to shape the best out of his pack. He huffed slightly amused and impressed and then cast his eyes back up to Triton.
‘If you have need to train any of the pack with dealing with any of the medium sized prey I’d be happy to help. The small prey I need not worry about, they all breed so quickly but the medium and larger animals I will need to keep an eye on.’ There was only so much you could teach before you needed wolves to physically put the teachings into practice. Cocidius had several small dens, if you could call them that, they when ideal places that simply offered him shelter, rare was it that he returned to his den he shared with Kalina. He knew now that he needed to try harder to befriend some more of the woodlands animals to form some sort of connective chain of contact but for now, ‘If you do have need of me, you’ll have to try calling at the den I share with Kalina, my mate.’ That still seemed strange to him and the bond between them was peculiar but it was the easiest way of explaining, ‘If I am not there I am usually not away longer than three days so inform her that you require me.’

Triton nodded slightly in response to the forest wolf's statement, mentally considering where he considered each pack member in terms of training. "We can go over and practice much of the general hunting tactics with the smaller creatures, though there are a few who might benefit from a larger challenge shortly...however I will wait until we have a small handful ready, and get the most we can from one hunt" He told the other after a few moments of thought.
It seemed silly to take only one or two wolves out after a medium sized prey if Cocidius was concerned with their numbers, better to wait until more were ready and get the fullest possible use of the targeted beast. "I will call upon you as soon as enough are in need of the larger hunt" He promised before quirking a slight smile and glancing about "And clearly you already know where to find me"

Cocidius nodded at the other wolf agreeing with his statement, the hunting trainer seemed to understand the need for controlled the prey levels, hunting numerous beasts solely for training was not going to help with the management of levels, one large kill would keep the pack for a few days but continued hunting of such game would ultimately lead to a drop in numbers, perhaps it may not really be detrimental to the herds but still Cocidius liked to control these things and not stress the animals needlessly. Hunting and killing prey wasn't the only damaging factory, over hunting or even attempted hunting would cause stress to the animals and therefore lead to numerous other problems.
Business aside Cocidius seemed to relax a little, rarely did he get to interact with other besides Kalina and she was female, Cocidius naturally always felt more comfortable and at ease in another males company. He grinned at the large navy blue male, besides making a point of knowing the animals which roamed these lands he knew the territory well and where the other wolves rested, but in response to Triton he simply gested, 'Well it was hardly hard to find you, you snore so loudly.'
