It was rather unfortunate that with the pack finally getting ready for their large hunts, the Pack Mother chose to disappear. However, Draug was a pack that knew how to adjust. They just needed to put their trust into the right wolves.
And so the large silver Beta made his way down the path towards the den of the gorgeous red wolf with the beautiful human items. She was the one they should have gone to from the start, emotions played too high of a role over functionality. He could only hope she would forgive them for overlooking her originally.
He stood outside the female's den and gave a soft bark to show he was there, hoping that the other was inside. While he waited, he took a seat and yawned a little to himself. Perhaps after this he should take a nap.

Madhuri's ears teased forward slightly as she woke from her midday rest, hearing the footsteps and soft call of another outside. Her heart leapt a little in curiosity almost immediately, as lately she had not been getting many visitors. Perhaps there was something important going on...
The crimson wolfess lifted herself immediately and trotted to the entrance of her den only to see HanGeng standing before her. Automatically she smiled and bowed her head a little before meeting his eyes, remembering his new rank, as always to be polite as possible.
"It's a pleasure to see you HanGeng! What may I ask is the occasion? I've hardly seen you since you became our new Beta," she teased gently, her tail having a soft wag to it as she spoke, "Have you been well?"

"I apologize, my lady." HanGeng bowed his head, but gave a small laugh. "Things have been so hectic around here, as I'm sure you may have caught on. I do hope you've been keeping yourself well." His own tail wagged behind him, looking rather excited to see her.
"I actually have come to ask for a rather important favor from you," He admited softly, watching her. "As I'm sure you've heard, our pack is now starting up our main mission.. hunting as a team, truly and with our whole hearts. Two females have recently given birth to litters, as well, things have been so hectic."
His eyes moved to look her over, trying to decide the best way to phrase things. "The female we trusted as pack mother has taken leave, and no one is quite sure why. Without a strong, loving female to look after these new pups, we are unable to have a successful hunt.. See, the pups came from the Hunting Trainer and the Hunting Captian."
He certiantly was letting it all spill out, but there was no reason to keep it from her, was there?
"Would you be at all willing to look after this bundle, my lady? We would be honored to give you such a position if you would be willing to take it. You were the first one on our minds when Reaction left." He didn't add that he personally thought that Madhuri should have been the Mother from the start. Haku had a way of letting his emotions get in the way on occasion, despite his age.

Madhuri's eyes lit up with excitement at the request, her body just barely able to keep its composure as a flood of bubbly energy hit her like a tidal wave. Her smile broadened and she nodded her head happily. Pack Mother! she thought, What an honor..There's no way I'll let them down! Well...I can't, anyhow, there are puppies needing looking after, after all.
"I would be honored to, HanGeng, such a position is the type of role my heart calls for." she couldn't stop smiling as she spoke, her elation clearly showing despite her efforts to compose herself, " I won't let you down, there's nothing I like better than to help with young ones..to be honest the title is just a bonus!" She laughed softly and stretched, her tail still wagging gaily.
"When can I start?"

"As soon as you're ready. The parents will be bringing their pups to the Mother's Den for the hunt. After that, we will need to count on you to be able to help teach and train them. As well as keep your eye out for any special talents or abilities of the young ones."
His lips curled into a smile, looking content. She seemed thrilled, and that would make everything ten times easier. Her heart was pure and the pups would be well taken care of.
"I can show you the way to the Mother's den and you can arrange a few things. There's some furrs in there already for comfort, but what you do with the den is really your call." He glanced over his shoulder. "Also, the duties will include helping any pregnant females that happen upon us, as well as helping heal the wounded here. I trust you know a little about healing?"

She nodded eagerly to HanGeng, stepping further from her own den as she looked about in the direction of the Pack Mother's den. "I know enough to get by with healing..I know the herbs around here. but of course there will always be something else worth learning that I don't know yet.."
Madhuri looked back to HanGeng and paused, waiting for him to take the lead, "But I'm sure I know all I'll need for now, at least for watching over the little ones for the hunt. Everything else will come with time..."
In truth, Madhuri worried a little with her know-how dealing with pregnancy and birthing, as she had never been through it herself, but she hoped that soon she would be able to see and hear enough about it to feel more confident in her abilities. Perhaps one day she would have first hand experience, but that would also have to come with time..
