Comistar breathed in deeply and held her breath for a quick moment before exhaling. She knew that it would be reckless to be traveling throughout the woodlands by herself, but she didn’t really have a choice in the matter. She had traveled much farther away from her little shelter than she had intended to. She paused and glanced around to see that every direction looked the same. Were the coming shadows playing tricks on her? Comistar tucked in her talons closer to her body for a feeling of security and continued on the unmarked path.

She glanced up at the canopy to see that the birds had quieted down some from the afternoon and were tucked away in their nests. The need to get home was greater now and Comistar urged her muscles to get her there.

She snorted, inhaling deeply and picked up her pace. Faster and faster she galloped in hopes of getting home sooner. But suddenly her body lunged forwards. Landing onto the ground with a fairly loud ‘thud’ noise, Comistar lay motionless for a moment or two. Her legs ached her and she winced in pain as she looked down to her forelegs. There was a small cut on her ankle that was bleeding.

Great, she thought to herself. She unwillingly stood up and limped towards a nearby tree to help hold her balance. She lifted her wounded foreleg to not add any more pressure to cause more pain. Comistar looked around briefly. She was lost and alone. Not the greatest position to be in.
