Who happened to be the Previous Members? 
So, who were the previous members of Nightwish, and why did they leave? Well, the members happen to be Tarja Turunen – vocals (1996–2005), and Sami Vänskä – bass guitar (1998–2001).
Why:
On 21 October 2005, Turunen was asked to leave Nightwish in an open letter by the other members of Nightwish, citing her changed attitude towards the fans and bandmembers and increased interest in financial aspects and fame.
After Vänskä played bass on Over the Hills and Far Away Tuomas Holopainen told Ewo Rytkönen, the band's manager, to tell Vänskä to leave Nightwish, when he felt that the musical differences between the two men were posing a threat to the band.

IMO, Tarja is the superior vocalist of Nightwish. She gives their music the Gothic music sound it so desperately needs. Anette's voice is just too high for me.

Tarja...they were a little bit stupid 'cause there is no one like her..and I have eared that they are having some problems...they aren't very famous right now....Tarja is an angel in a human form....If I was them I wouldn't let her go...did u guys saw her in the last interview?? IT WAS SO SAD!! She was crying so mutch!!! I felt sorry for her.
 I wish that she was in the nightwish...it was so awesome. I WAS BORN LATE!! evil

I agree with both of you, she was the best they had, but now they have to deal with the consequences of losing her.
