so i would think that to be considerd anarexic you need to be extremly under weight right? and to be bulimic ya you would be binging and purging your food. but what if your not under weight, eating such small meals to the point whne the next time you have a sort of big meal to the point where your stomach is killing you to take another bite. and then you can eat for a long time, and to make it stop hurting you force yourself to throw up...
what would that fall under in the eating disorder catigory?

Eating disorders are more about the mental state of a person, not their weight. So, you can even get overweight people with anorexia (they just don't stay that way for that long, I'd imagine).
We'd have to know the reasons behind eating that way before anyone could say what is it, I think. Unless there is an eating disorder I don't know of, that is.

Well...there is EDNOS which is "Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified".

But, from what it sounds like, I'd say that sounds like both anorexia and bullimia. It's actually possible to have both. Like when a person is anorexic, but feels the need to eat in front of their friends/family so no one gets suspicious; only to throw it up later. A lot of the times anorexics will eat ONLY when people are around, and that's why some become reclusive and stop being around others. Or when one is starving themselves and accidently help themselves to something and or binge eat (overeat), only to throw it up after. So, it's possible to have both and that's what it sounds like.

We've had a motivational speaker come over to our school and said she was diagnosed with both anorexia AND bullimia, so it is possible.

And anorexics can be overweight. Not necessarily skinny. Anorexia translated from latin means without eating. This isn't necessarily without eating anything, but also eating very, very little. There are overweight people that starve themselves but are unable to lose weight because of genetics or metabolic disorders. They are still considered anorexic, but many times they are never found out to be because of their size and the general conception that anorexics are skinny and overweight people eat abundantly (both are not necessarily true, but they are general conceptions)

I've got bulimia.
An eating disorder is where you feel the need to practice disordered eating habits.

Before I started purging, I used to chew and spit food, no swallowing included.

The need to practice disordered eating is compulsive.
However, you don't need to be bony skinny to be categorized with an eating disorder.
But most people with an eating disorder are pretty skinny though, but not all.

If it is an obssessive compulsion, then yes, it's an ED.

I have a binge eating disorder.

I HAVE to portion before I eat, which means putting a specific amount on my plate and putting the rest up, or I will eat until all of it is gone or I get sick.

And when I'm not eating, I'm drinking something or chewing on gum.

ED's are more mental state. if you force youeself to vomit due to stomach pain and not fear- thats coping with physical discomfort.

If you eat that little, why aren't you underweight?
