Blueness sighed uncharictaristically as she rolled over and pawed at the sky, considering life with an unusually grim attitude. Sane was definitely happy with Hatter, she didn't begrudge him his need for feelings of safety, and they did look good together, she was loathe to admit. But it still hurt that she would have to play second fiddle. Masque himself was worse, in a way. She had loved watching him be happy with other females, hadn't hated him for the attention. But it had hurt, in a way, to see him raising another wish's kittens. Ink chittered, concerned, and put a paw on Blueness' flank, as he watched his mistress toss and turn. "I'm sorry, Ink," she told her familiar. "I'm just not in a mood for walkies today."

The squirrel chittered something rather indignant-sounding, and the blue-and-orange wish shot up out of the summer grass. "Paw prints? Where? ... But that's our secret spot! ... You're sure? Show me, boy! If you're right, I'm finding you acorns tonight!" Her expression was one of adventuring and happiness as she bounded after her squirrel companion, thoughts of loneliness pushed to the very back of her mind.

Spaztastic had, in a most unfashionable way of loosing her footing and tumbling down the side of a hill, found a most interesting place. The forest here was pretty in general, but this spot had all kinds of pretty about it. "Woah..." She said in rapt fascination as she looked around, turning her head this way and that. She could hardly believe her luck that she had found this pretty place, covered in grass and flowers of all sorts. Her tongue hung out a bit as she stopped to stare, then she snapped at the fly that flew past by with a laugh. That reminded her... "Oh yeah..." She looked for the way that she had come from, but hadn't been paying attention at all to her surroundings. "Well, that's alright." Spaztastic said as she began to prance forward once more. "I'm sure that I'll find them here!" She growled happily, sticking her nose to the ground as she plotting along, sniffing for what she was searching for.

Blueness made an impressed noise as she caught sight of the pawprints. "It's acorns for you for sure... if we can prove that I didn't make them." The squirrel chittered at her in an indignant manner. "I might have grown! Who knows!" she protested, nevertheless putting a paw into one of the prints. "Fine, fine, you're right. My paws are smaller..." She looked along the path and made a happy noise, her bottom wriggling in anticipation. "Let's find the interloper, Ink!" she cried out happily, and started bounding down what she thought was the path the wish would have taken.

While Spaztastic had started off going in one direction, she quickly strayed from the line. Following her nose she zig zagged and circled, crawling over rocks, going under tree roots and even into a burrow, which she was chased out of by an angry fox. Luckily that was all the other creature felt like doing. Then her nose picked up something that she hadn't smelled just yet and she stood up, looking very excited at the paw print in the ground. "Wahooo!" She exclaimed happily. "I've found a trail! Heh heh heh." Spaztastic stuck her nose to the ground again, and unknowingly, began to trace the scent and paw prints of the very Wish that was trying to find her.

Ink chittered and started shifting as BLueness doggedly followed the tracks, getting the small amber-brown and blue wish's attention effectively. She listened to her companion's chirps and clicks with a patient expression, then made a negative motion. "No, silly, the tracks go this way. We have to follow them. It's probably just the mean old fox lady... vixen past her prime." Blueness made an amused noise as the squirrel chittered a murderous opinion about a certain vulpus, and continued following the tracks. Finally, though, the blue-and-black squirrel got tired of not being listened to. It shot off in the opposite direction, leading his wish on a wild chase towards their relatively quiet pursuer.

Somewhere along the lines Spaztastic had turned herself about in another tizzy, finding not only the newer tracks but her own. "Huh, that's funny. I could of sworn I've been this way before. Hmmm." Well, she certainly wouldn't find what she was looking for if she didn't keep on going. She continued to plot along, heading into some tall grass and then coming out of it she suddenly found herself almost stepping on a squirrel. "Woah! Hey!" Somehow she managed to step over the creature, but still tripped over her own feet. "Oof!"

There were many things the resilient squirrel could stand. Being ignored, talked over, ignored, forgotten, ignored, woken up, and even being ignored. But being almost stepped on was too much. He let loose a tirade of ear-shattering squeaks, verbally cutting into the orange wish.

Blueness, who had finally caught up to the little streak of black and blue, rolled back onto her haunches as she heard such language from her usually polite rodent companion. "Oh, oh my," she said, an expression of surprised amusement on her face. "What happened, Inky?" The tirade of clicks and squeaks was now directed at her. "Oh, I see. I'm sorry. I should have listened." She stopped as the squirrel kept on his rant. "... well, at least she didn't step on you, right?"

The squirrel paused, gave a couple grumbling cheeps, and settled on blueness' back, leaving the orange-and-blue wish to address the orange-and-brown. With an apologetic nod of the head, she said, "Sorry about Ink," she said. "He gets a bit sensitive about getting dust on his pelt."
