Rock felt like his life so far had been a long run of adults telling him to go back home. First Lilith, and now Draka had run from him and caused him to have to retreat to his own family. This was a sad existence, and the small wolf had no idea why he hadn't been back to the mushroom beds yet. That was right, he wanted to speak with her... she was always so distant, and he felt that maybe if he approached her, she would speak to him, show him that she acknowledged his presence in this world.
He wandered his way back to the family den, and was surprised when he didn't find anyone there. Sneaking into the den itself, he noted it was still hot, and he could hear a wolf breathing. Hoping it was his mother, he carefully made his way through the dark. After a few moments, his paw hit a much larger body, furry and warm. "Mother..." he ventured, hoping to gently wake her, or get her attention if she had merely been laying there in thought.
He wasn't sure what to say to her, but he felt after all this time of never speaking to her and never being spoken to, he had to say something. He waited patiently by her side, not wanting to startle her into waking. Her emotions seemed so frail, and he wondered if she would even do him the respectful notion of talking with him for a bit.

Kairi was startled from her rest, it was her son… One of them at least. Flinching at the thought of birthing those many pups Kairi held in her breath trying to get her wits together, things weren’t making sense to her. They were living wolves, she understood how reproduction worked but part of her still didn’t want to believe it… There had been so many and all of them reminded her of Jono, even the ones that barely looked like him, all she could think of was what he had done to make her have them.
Maybe it was for a good case, their pack needed more wolves but… It hurt Kairi to think of any of them, to think of anyone at the moment. Shivering Kairi circled into herself mumbling, “What is it…?” to her son. She didn’t want to ignore him but her usually chipper self was depleting with the oddity of the rush from birth. She liked Jono so much, but she didn’t understand how these feelings worked how she was suppose to respond to these pups… To Jono.

The young pup waited a moment after hearing his mother's distraught voice. He wasn't sure what to do now that he had her attention. His hope waned further as she curled tighter into herself, becoming less approachable than ever before. "I just wanted to see you..." he ventured, putting his paw on her exposed back.
He was frightened of her, he had to admit. First her, then his sisters, then Lilith. He had to realize at some point that his life was becoming one terrible trail of disappointment in females. But why? What was so strange about it all, that they would be so mean to him. Had he done something wrong? He hadn't been on the earth long enough to do something that terribly wrong had he?

The small pup’s words shook Kairi to her very core, why would he want to see her? What was the point in seeing her? Did he have some sort of connection to her that was further then Jonos? Did Jono like her like she liked him? Was it right to like wolves like she did? Whimpering Kairi inched away from the small boy, “Why…”
“Why would anyone…” Shaking her head Kairi sniffled as more confusing thoughts came to mind. She didn’t want this, why did she have to go through this now? Was she playing the game wrong? Was life just a game that she had broken the rules to? Would she forever be in time out…? Another whimpered escaped the grown female wolf.

"Cause you're my mama..." he spoke, softly. She inched away leaving his paw hanging in the air, lonely as he felt. He inched closer to her, hoping that maybe she would hit a wall and be forced to keep contact. What was she doing, didn't she even love him? He loved her, deep down, like he knew he should, like a good boy.
She was frightening him now, he had no idea how to connect with her. She was like a distant light that he could never find on his own. The light had to meet him halfway, or there was no way to ever meet up again.
"Mama, please don't shy away from me." he whined a bit as he scooted even closer. He wanted so badly to find a connection within his family, someone to love him and make him feel as though he belonged in the world. He didn't often feel this way, but when he did, it was terrible. He whined again, a soft hollow noise that filled the den.

Flinching at the nickname Kairi stilled, she could at least do as he asked even knowing his presence made no sense to her. Was he here to yell at her, to play with her? To direct her to do something else? Maybe he’ll be able to explain what’s going on in this odd life of hers. She wanted to be normal like Jono she did but she didn’t want to lose herself and that’s what it felt like…
She thought at least that’s the closest to what it felt like, though she’s never felt it before she’d assume this is how it felt. Her world, her only being was being crossed into a controlled used unwilling to do anything one, what happen to playing?
“What…” Glancing about slowly Kairi noted her pup, he was hers right? Her head pained her a bit as memories faded, maybe he would play with her. “Will you play with me?”

Rock paused, brows knitted tightly together. It seemed everyone he met needed the mushrooms, but he still refused to share, or even let them know of such a thing, because of what had happened to Jani. If all of these wolves were in such a bad way, the mushroom might make everything worse, just like it had for his scarred sister.
When she turned to him finally, he felt a sense of relief until she spoke. Play with her? He... had no idea what she meant, and drew back, scooting away from her a bit. "S-sure?" he squeaked, completely not sure.
He moved even farther away, knowing that the den was small, and that she would need more room than him to move around. Did she want to play outside? What did she want to play? He was sad again. Was this really how parents acted with their children? He was as new to this as she was, but it still didn't feel right deep down.

Slowly Kairi took to a stand; she hadn’t played any game in a while. Ever since she had become with pup Kairi had to slow it down or else she would over work herself and become sick, or over work herself and lie down or overwork herself and loose the pups. Shaking out her fur Kairi stared at the puppy, he reminded her of some one.
“There’s this game that… Jono played with me.” Thinking back on that day made Kairi’s body shake, what had happened that day…? It resulted in these pups, and ever as Kairi stared at her own pup something didn’t click in her mind that he was hers.
“It’s a hug… That males give to females. It results in puppies, whether the female is willing or not isn’t really the point.” Slowly the mother stalked closer to her pup.

Rock ducked his head as his mother spoke. His father played games too? How strange this family was. As the explanation became more clear, two things stood out like the sun in Rock's mind.
One: His mother hadn't wanted him or his siblings... his father had raped her.
Two: She was so mentally incapacitated that she was about to do the same to him.
The pup backed up faster now, avoiding his mother's frightening stalking ways. She had to move much slower in the cramped den than he did, and he could feel the cool breeze on his rump as he neared the entrance. "No mama... I don't want to play. I'm sorry I woke you up..." he cried, scrambling to get himself out of the den fast enough to avoid her approach. If he got free, he told himself, he could easily out run her until he could hide.

Kairi stared her pup down, she knew he was going to run but she liked running chasing things… It could be a different game, a better game than the one Jono had played with her.
Noteing the thought Kairi leaned down allowing herself to get ready to chase after the smaller beginning, she was well enough to chase things now right? To have fun, be happy… But did it really better now that she truly didn’t know what was going on? Now that she couldn’t keep track of the rush of thoughts and emotions hitting her right and left. This pup was of her, she could play with it if she wanted…
And if she wasn’t allowed then that really didn’t matter, Jono had played with her so she should be able to play with her pup.

Rock's eyes widened as his mother readied herself to pounce on him. Instinctively, he shoved himself backwards, out of the den. He only looked back once before bolting around the large rock his father usually sat upon, watching over them all. Where was he now, now that Rock truly needed his protection? He didn't have time to think about it, he could feel his mother's hot breath on his heels as he ran through the underbrush, his paws skidding in the loose sand.
He wondered if he would be able to escape. Was this his fault? Had he really had the serious need to talk to his mother, to try to understand her and connect with her? He figured now, in hindsight, that trying to connect with a venomous snake might have been a better choice for his well being.
Rounding another rock, he flattened himself down, trying to hide as best he could. Would she see him? Would she be able to sniff him out? He had no idea. Hide... hide. Those were the words he thought to himself over and over as he tried to slow his breathing. Hide.

Kairi burst into the open light, the sun beaming down on her fur… It was so bright out, and things were too loud out here. Frowning Kairi glanced around, what was she doing outside of the den? Surely she wasn’t healed enough to run around yet… Glancing down at her body Kairi shrugged she looked good enough but couldn’t think of a good enough reason to go outside of the den, to leave the protective feel of those deep cool walls around her. Taking in a deep breath kairi’s head shot in the direction of her pup, her son… She had pups to tend to didn’t she? Then why couldn’t she seem to muster up the deep feelings most mothers had toward them to really tend to them?
Sighing Kairi slipped back inside her den ignoring her pending thoughts and emotions, this was too much to take in for today. Plopping back down Kiairi curled into herself, slipping back into insanity.

Hide, hide, hide. Breeeeaaath... hide, hide, hide.
Rock lay flattened to the dark side of the large rock for what seemed like eternity. He never heard his mother's paw steps, never heard her call for him. She never came crashing through the underbrush to make him play her twisted game. The pup wanted to cry so badly, but knew that it might be too loud, might attract her attention. The whole time he felt as though she was on the other side of the boulder, waiting for him to make his move, waiting for him to make a noise, so that she could pounce on him, and do bad things to his small body.
He could feel her voice in his head, as though she was hunting for him, calling for him. He refused to answer her, and tried his best to mentally shut down, to stop the maddening screams assault his subconscious. Finally, he grew still, his mind falling into the cloudy darkness of unwilling sleep.
It was growing very dark when he realized that she wasn't coming for him. She had slipped back into the den and left him, not caring where he had gone, or what he might have done to himself over her. He felt sickened now that she could be that type of mother. He had only wanted her to care.
He moved very slowly, testing the noise he might make when he tried to get away from the rock. When she didn't come barreling over the rock for him, he moved again, and again, each time pausing for that essential test. When he was finally moved and stretched out, and had realized that she truly wasn't anywhere near him, he ran.

Silently now alone in her den Kairi curled into a ball, tightly trying to counsel herself from the world maybe she would heal after some time, maybe she would care for her pups later in life, maybe life would finally make sense to the female but for now Kairi couldn’t help but cry. Everything was too new, and everyday it seemed she just had to remember something from the previous day and she just couldn’t… She didn’t want to remember she wanted to play.
And yet she couldn’t even do that, fear raked over the shaking form as Kairi fell into a deep sleep hopefully not disturbed this time. Maybe one day Kairi could remember and she would understand fully what it meant to be a mother and lover.
Maybe. One day, but not this day.

Rock was full on crying before he even reached the tree-bridge. He had no clue where he was going, but he had to get to a place where he had sanctity. Damn that purple wolf, Lilith, he would hide in the caves and never come out. She couldn't fit into the secret glowing cave he had found anyway.
Crossing the bridge, the pup tripped and almost fell over the edge. As he clung for dear life, he thanked the earth that the water here was slow moving, and wouldn't whisk him away to his death if he did fall in. But he had no want to be wet, and so he crawled the rest of the way across on his belly, tiny claws clinging for dear life.
Rock didn't stop this time for the tickling grasses of Hollow Earth, nor did he pause when he whipped through the bush that covered the entrance to the caves themselves. He was headed straight for the small tomb he had discovered, to swallow a mushroom, and hopefully forget about this night forever.
As he tripped through the cool moist underground, he smelled the alphas of this place, the scent growing far too close for comfort.
