"Fish tag?' asked Truant. "You tag fish?"
Duncan came closer, curious despite himself. "It's a... it's a sailor's compass. It's a little waterlogged. It should still work though, if it's not too old and made with magnets not technology..."

Sabina chuckled. "We tag their tail fins with our fins, then they chase use to do the same. Sometimes we have teams. But it can be a fun game." She splashed at him a bit. She handed it over to Duncan. "I found it in a shipwreck. It works quite well. Oh it is very old." She pointed at the wood.

Truant suddenly leapt behind his rock, avoiding the water. "Never try and trick a ninja," he said with a smirk.
Duncan shook his head. "What a waste," he said. "It might not be very reliable now..."

She giggled at Truant. "A Ninja? What is that?" "You may have it Duncan. A gift if you will." She smiled.

"A ninja is a person trained in ninjitsu," said Truant, sitting back on his rock.
Duncan took the compass from her. "Thankyou, that is very generous."

She blushed a bit when Duncan brushed her hooves. "You're welcome! I have others, so no worries." She looked at him intrigued. "Ninjitsu? Hmm never heard of it. What's it like?"

"It's..." began Truant. "It's a way of... moving, like techiques that are taught... it's also a fighting technique."
"Still," said Duncan, "it is generous."

Sabina looked at Truant. "I see sorta like when we swim in different ways. Fin slapping is the only fighting we are allowed here. Can you show me your moves?" She blushed saying that. "I'm generous to a fault some say. So what's it like on a boat?" She smiled at Duncan and waited.

"I could," said Truant. "It might be different in the water."
"It is very noisy", said Duncan. "There's a lot of trust involved. Not much independent movement on a boat."

Sabina giggled. "Ok Let's see these moves!" "Oh boats sound so busy and fascinating. What are the big white things on the sticks in the middle?"

"Okay, then," said Truant. He stepped into the water and sank. And then he was gone. There were no bubbles, or dark shape to show him swimming underwater.
"Those are sails, they catch the wind and force the boat to go. A sailboat can't go anywhere without them," explained Duncan. "They're a bit safer for those who live in the water... one must always be careful of propellers of new boats."

"Oh! Where did he go?" She said. "Oh Sails! I see. I'll be careful of propellers." She smiled.

A large clump of seaweed suddenly rose up threateningly before it was pulled apart from the inside, revealing Truant with a new hairdo. He stripped the seaweed fronds away from himself and then put out his arms. "Ta dah!" He has moved over ten metres without any visible means. Or, it seemed, breathing.
Duncan was very quiet. He remembered the terrible injuries faced by a merpony caught in a propeller. She had never fully recovered. "That is always good," he said stiltedly. "Good to be wary."

"Oh! That is interesting. Are you alright?" She had been surprised. She splashed Duncan. "It's ok. Cheer up."
