Dezi emerged from the forest, thirsty after the long hard run through the forest's dark pathways. She loved to run, there was no greater feeling. But if only she wings so she could soar in the skies. She often drempt of flying, envying the winged horses of the land.
She lowered her head to drink, taking long deep gulps of the cool, refreshing water. The stream had not frozen over this winter completely, which made it easier to find water after her daily run. She lifted her head, water droplets dropping from her muzzle.
It had snowed the night before, so the land was blanketed with the beauty of the glistening snow, untouched by hoof or paw. She shook herself and stomped a hoof. What to do today? She pranced into a nearby meadow connected to the stream. The snow was up to her knees and she whinnied with joy, playing in the snow. Her spotted coat made her clearly visiable against the white blanket of snow.
She stood still a moment, watching her breath in the cold air. She had always found this amusing and her amber eyes lit up with a playful spark as she giggled in her own amusement.

Westley was at the stream, gazing into the sparkling, frosty water. This time of year was his favorite. He loved the snow and the cold weather, loved the ice crystals that formed on the water, and the glowing icicles that hung from the trees. He grinned ruefully at his reflection as he thought that the only thing that could be better, would be to have someone to share it with. And it didn't even have to be a mate.. he'd be happy with a friend! He was tired of being alone all the time.
He took one last drink and wandered off. Walking upstream towards the forest, he saw a splash of dark colors and heard a whinny in the distance. He didn't often see anyone else in this area, much less get up the nerve to approach them. Debating whether or not he should try to talk to whoever it was, he continued in their direction. He was rather curious about it at any rate.

Dezi frolicked happily in the snow, kicking it up with her hooves as she bucked and reared playfully. She stopped for a moment, standing very still, aside from her breath in the cool morning air coming from her flared nostrils.
The sun had risen some now, and a light mist blanketed the small meadow. Dezi giggled and whinned as she plunged forward, racing across the meadow from one side to another, sending the snow flying behind her. This would have been more fun though with a friend to frolick and play with.
She didn't notice the stallion coming her direction and thudded to the ground, pressing her back into the cold snow and rolling around with thrashing legs. . She was purely entertained and amused by her own antics, anyone could have approached without her realization.

As Westley got closer, he could see it was a pretty mare, with dark spots. She was kicking and playing in the snow! He was amazed at the sight. Here was someone else who clearly liked the glorious white fluffy stuff as much as he! Would she speak to him? Did he dare to approach her?
Cautiously he walked closer to her and cleared his throat.

Dezi continued wildly thrashing her legs as she rolled in the snow, that is until she heard a sound that sounded like another was present. She scuttled to her hooves and turned to meet the silver stallion that stood before her. Perhaps he would like to play?
A grin came across her muzzle, her bright amber eyes lighting up with excitement. "hello there!" she called out in a friendly, booming voice. She trotted over to the newcomer. Dezi was indeed not a shy mare. "Hi! My name is Deziferia but you can call me Dezi. Whats your name?"
She tilted her head in inquiry as her eyes inspected the stallion. He didn't seem threatening, so perhaps he would like to play. She shook the snow out of her mane and off her back and smiled at him. her eyes dancing with anticipation at a possible playmate.

Westley took a step back, slightly surprised. He definitely hadn't expected her to be that friendly. He smiled shyly and said, " Uh.. h-hi there. It's nice to meet you Dezi. My name is Westley.. y-you can call me Wes for short if you'd like.."
He dipped his head and lowered his eyes, pawing at the fluffy snow. He gave her another shy smile and glanced at her, not knowing what else to say.

Dezi tilted her head curiously at the stallion as it seemed like he struggled to speak. "Well Wes it is then!" she gigled and danced in place. She didn't mind at all if he had a speech impetament. after all one should always accept their friends as they are, even new friends. At least this was her personal belief.
"Are you from around here Wes?" She watched him paw at the snow, seemingly nervous? Deciding to break the ice her own way, she dipped her neck downwards and flung snow at Wes with her muzzle. Her eyes flashed with a mischievious but playful flare.

He watched the mare through lowered eyes. She was genuinely friendly.. and actually seemed interested in talking to him, which was another surprise.
He smiled shyly at her and replied, "Yes.. I am from around here.. I-I've never really met anyone else around these parts though." He flicked his tail back and forth nervously. He didn't know why he was so nervous around her... he just knew that he was.
As she flung a bit of snow at him, he jumped back in surprised and snorted. She still looked friendly.. perhaps a bit mischievious, so he figured she was being playful. His smiled broadened at that thought and he dipped his head down to throw some snow back at her.
