Username : Khurse Lunarian Name : Tonn Alliance : Legion Path : male Warrior Personality : reserved, fiercely traditional, subdued, wary.
Tonn is an only child, born to and raised by a family of loyalists maintaining a long-standing tradition of service to the Legions. The head of the family is Anon Ji-Yu, decorated veteran and, once upon a time, the valedictorian of his class. Anon married very late in life, towards the end of his career, and he sees the disfigurement of his son as a sign of personal shame and dishonor. Upon manhood, Anon denied his son the right to bear the family name until he proves himself as a loyal and honorable member of the Legions. Tonn has been brought up in a family steeped very deeply in imperial customs and old traditions. He has been taught to always pay respect to his elders, to faithfully obey authority and to think long and hard before committing to any statement or position. He is also deathly afraid of his father's legendary rages, the brunt of which the young boy has learned to bear stoically and silently. Despite his subdued demeanor, however, Tonn is ambitious and far from frail. His willowy physique belies a keen mind and a penchant for Projection Magic, which has helped him to withstand his father's physical punishment on more than one occasion by fortifying his skin and strengthening his bones. Aside from this magical development and the unforgiving martial lessons of his father, Tonn is an apt student of philosophy and history. His light skin and sensitive eyes have kept the boy confined to libraries and studies as long as he can remember, and with time he learned to make the most of it. That said, Tonn relishes physical exercise such as running and climbing, sports in which his senewy, gangly body gives him a distinct advantage over more heavily muscled and encumbered youths. He is also a capable swimmer, although the opportunities for aquatic endeavors have been few and far between.
To his shame and regret, Tonn was not admitted to the academy through any distinguishing accomplishment of his own, but rather due to favors his father has called in. This slight burns white hot in the mind of the boy, and even after spending considerable time at the school, bile still rises to the back of his throat at the thought of his father's scorn and disdain. Determined to prove him wrong and settling the ever-present question of his own skill, Tonn sets out aching to face whatever adversity awaits beyond the doors of the Academy. Ambition paces impatiently behind his almost colorless eyes even as the sparks of magic tickle hungrily at his fingertips.
❀ Appearance! Skin Tone : Very pale, with his veins showing clearly in places. Body Style : gangly, slender arms and legs, willowy and senewy Hair Color/Style : almost white, short pony's tail Eye Color : almost devoid of color, with a whitish-blue sheen
Clothing Description : Tonn favours functionally simple clothing that his not focused on flamboyancy or even standing out, for that matter. Tidy but unassuming, most of his tunics and pants are monochrome except for lapels and belt. Accessory Description : The broad, obviously old leather belt with a large buckle bearing an imperial crest is the only gift Tonn has ever received from his father. It bears the emblem of the unit his father joined upon graduating the Academy many years before. It is both a source of strength and ambition within Tonn as well as a constant reminder of the disdain and disappointment on the part of his father.
Unique Attributes : albino
Fighting Style : Through grueling exercises and punishing drills, Tonn has been educated in a number of different forms of combat. He is an apt archer, but his sensitive eyes make it almost impossible for him to work well during daylight hours. Quite capable when using two blades - one in each hand -, Tonn lacks the brute strength necessary to inflict truly crippling wounds. The young man comes into his full when fighting in melee and, preferably, unarmed. His unusual manifestation of Projection Magic allows Tonn to turn his skin into a semblance of rough stone, while his bones harden to preternatural resiliency. Every punch becomes a hammer blow, every kick the impact of an anvil. Tonn remains as light and nimble as ever, easily evading slower opponents and using grapples and chokes to bring down even the most resilient foes. Throughout the tactical and martial education of the Academy, Tonn has honed his skills and added spurs and spikes to the joints and heels of his armour, further adding to his already formidable close quarter capabilities. He is neither the most steadfast nor the most effective warrior, but life has taught Tonn to endure, a trait which he has since embraced almost to exclusion of all other virtues.

The Ji-Yu : This once renowned family has fallen behind the times a bit, if one were to put it favourably. The secessionist Nobles attracted many of the younger, somewhat disillusioned members of the family early-on, while the traditionalist elders stoically watched their ranks dwindle. Only lately has the tide changed and what little progeny is left has been indoctrinated thoroughly in imperialist lore. Tonn is the youngest – perhaps the last – of the Ji-Yu line, and it must seem like the cruelest of Fate's jokes to disfigure the hope of the family so. The spindly boy was prone to sickness, often confined to his quarters for weeks on end, while his father's mood grew darker with every year. Finally, when Tonn's cousin left overnight and joined the Noble movement, Anon vowed to put all his knowledge and skill to forging Tonn into a fighter, a warrior. He would make his son into his likeness, a fury on the battlefield, a nightmare, a horror that the enemies of the Emperor would fear, and thus crowd around their fires at night lest they be taken in their sleep.
Thus the boy's fate was decided long before he had any say in the matter. His unintelligible mumblings, attributed to feverish dreams and sickly visions, were ignored by the herbalists. No priests were ever called into Anon's house, he distrusted their mystical ways and haughty demeanor. Whatever soul shaping abilities the child may have had was ignored, disregarded and eventually beaten out of him by the fanatical fervor of his father and his uncles.
And yet, it is difficult to lay blame on any of the veterans, who had watched their sons and daughters, nieces and nephews discard tradition and heirloom to swell the numbers of the usurpers. Their hopes and aspirations rested on the frail shoulders of a boy who only ever sought some sort of acknowledgement from his father. Here, then, lay the crux of Tonn's youth: His ambitions were the same as his father's, and yet they may as well have spoken in different tongues.

Demeanor : Tonn is usually very quiet, preferring to remain in the background until a decisive path is revealed. Braving the murderous outbursts of his father, the boy has learned that sooner or later, even the greatest warrior must reach the end of his wind. It is then, when the greatest of weaknesses become apparent, that he can strike, once, decisively, lethally. Both his tutors at home and at the Academy have sometimes mistaken Tonn's taciturn nature as complacency, even boredom. More than once the young student had to endure disciplinary punishment in the form of detention, cleaning service and, in two instances, whippings. And yet by the end of each year, the pale youth remained as tight-lipped and silent as before.
There are few things that elicit overt emotions from Tonn, but his distrust of the Retainers is as deep-rooted as it is irrational – albeit arguably not ill-founded. Although he has yet to encounter any, logic dictates that more than a few of his relatives attend the Academy. And if logic dictates that an encounter is imminent, honor dictates Anon's son avenge the slight offered to the Ji-Yu name. The conflicting imperial charters are of little comfort to the young man as expectations clash inside him, as the laws that govern the school are violently at odds with the laws that govern the relations of Anon and the Ji-Yu.
