I'm D-
junior in college and taking up comparative literature smile
PostPosted: Thu Dec 04, 2008 5:35 pm

I'm Eric. I'm a senior in high school (very ready to leave). Though I don't know what I want to do with my life, I'm very talented in math and science, and will probaly major in some form of engineering. I'm a decent writer: though I've never been motivated to write anything big, I write the occasional short story. I live in a suburb of Seattle, Washington. The locals tend to be very liberal, but I'm a conservative myself. I'm musically talented, but I've never liked it enough to practice any one instrument for any extended period of time. I love books, particularly historical fiction and fantasy, though I'm not beyond a good biography.

Now, my problem: I'm too smart for my own good, and I like to speak my mind. Bluntly. I take education very seriously, but I'm in a public school, so virtually no one else takes my view. We have a "Thinker's Club", but they do very little thinking, and a lot of time aimlessly chattering. So, I live online. I follow Socrates's dialectic method of questioning, trying to make people understand their own beliefs. No matter what you believe, I will force you to question your beliefs. You won't thank me for it, but it will make you a better person.

Hello. My name is Alexander I'm 21 years old. I'm not currently attending school due to a personal mistake, but will be going back. I'm very interested in history, particularly WW2 era and the history of and problems within the Third Reich. I also study philosophy, of course, comparative religion, metaphysical theories, and sports physiology. I read a lot, almost anything I can. Mostly nonfiction, true crime, history, etc. But I read fiction as well, mostly fantasy, my favorite books are John Norman's Chronicles of Gor.

I'm a little elitist, in that I firmly believe in the existence of Ubermensch and Untermensch, or that some people are naturally higher that others. Unlike some others who have taken that theory (originally of Nietzsche), I believe it to be intellectual and not racial. I'm very stubborn in my beliefs but if I am proven wrong I will be the first person to back up, apologize, and ask to be taught.

My current career (part time at least) is fighting as a mixed martial artist. Athleticism is very important to me. My style is a combination of ju-jitsu and boxing.

Hi, I'm Lisa. I enjoy reading, writing, and art, and along with my artistic interests I'm facisnated by pure logic and philosophical arguments.

Unfortunately these things do not come naturally to me and I often feel like a child fumbling with tools too delicate for her hands, but I try my best to recognize my mistakes and learn from them.

Hi!
My name is Alanna. I'm fifteen, but I'll be sixteen in a month and a half, and I can't always say I'm sixteen, because eventually I won't be. I am not my age. I am not anything, really, but change.
But enough of that. I'll save it for the philosophical discussions.

I'm a big nerd. I plan on making a career of acting and writing, my two biggest loves in life. I love the arts, and have tried most of them at some point or other, with varying degrees of success. I adore the social sciences and the humanities, and the hard sciences too. I'm not really a numbers person, and I adore studying religion. Learning is the coolest thing ever, in my view.

Also, I have a thing for Thai food, especially since I'm a vegetarian and Thai restaurants tend to have huge vegetarian menus.

My name is Richard, and, despite being perceived by you all, I do not exist. Despite my nonexistence, however, I do enjoy classical music, puzzles (particularly the variety that involve deductive or spatial reasoning), and fine dining.

I'm well versed in the sciences and literature, with a fair bit of knowledge in politics, history, and religious studies. I imagine I know other things as well, but I'm not quite certain of what they are. Trivial knowledge has always been my specialty.

I lost my notebook

Non-existence? Existentialism is a good philosophical topic. Well, now goes to my introduction.

I am Kyle from the Philippines who is 18 years old. I am now in college just shifted from Nursing to Psychology. I am interested on what others have to say about what reality really is. I am interested in virtually any topic that can be brought here.

I have a broad stock knowledge of Science. Also, Trivias is a interesting subject matter. biggrin

Philosophy for me is a pathway to self-exploration and self-discovery of life in a certain dimensions.

As Socrates said "An unexamined life is not worth living". biggrin biggrin

haii there *waves*

I'm elle ^^ xd
im 18 sooooon. (june)

I don't read up on stuff to learn, I much prefer to ponder myself into near insanity but more often that not sheer confusion. It's how i learn things, not that I don't enjoy reading about philosophy and such like. I'm just more of a think for myself kinda gal.

I believe anything is possible. (might take another dimension or ALOT of thinking in weird angles but still...)

I can never settle on one thing and say yeah that is deffo the RIGHT answer because I realise that no one really knows and therefore I have no authority to say what is right and what is wrong. And I see possibilities in everything and therefore cannot discredit everything.

And I talk alot. so if i don't stop now ill go ooooon and ooon and ooon and onnn...

Hi. I'm Matt. I'm 21 and attending college for architecture. I've always been interested in politics, moral issues, and practically anything else related to philosophy and I'm also a huge history buff, especially when it comes to Rome and ancient Greece. I'm also a huge nerd and play all kinds of video games.

In discussions, I probably won't be dropping many quotes or heavy vocab as I usually like to take issues as I see them and interpret them myself. Bear with me all you scholars.

The way I view life is in constant transition, sometimes going from new, back to the old. Really, it's whatever mood I happen to be in. I don't have a set standpoint on every subject. I have a tendency to see merit in several sides of one situation. I don't like the way philosophy is taught. I feel that it's too rigid with its determined attempt to define everything. I don't think people should think so hard about what's "true" and "real." All that matters is you and the way yourself lives and thinks.

I'm eighteen, going to community college, and rather discontent with going along with the ways of this society. To me it's dull, but excluding myself could result in death. I try to distract myself with my daydreaming and continuous ramblings within my mind. I'm not as crazy as I sound, but then again, who can define crazy?

Hello, my real name is Dakota. Named after the two states, and every time someone hears my name, they either make a reference to Dakota Fanning or their grand daughter. I'm a sophomore in High School, I don't take philosophy classes, 1) because we don't have those types of classes 2) I enjoy it as a hobby, that's it. I love people's ideas and I love saying how stupid they sound, but it's only for a few people. I have an open mind, pretty much. I love people's points of views of things....and it's a curse for me because I can see both sides of a situation of it. Anyway, I'm a pretty "dull" guy. wink wink nod nod
