Jasper's face lit up a bit when he heard all of the things that were possible here. He never really had a chance to practice on any of his skills except for with his kind master, and that time was so brief. He thought of all of those books with so much potential. They could be filled with the beauty of either words or drawings. He thought of what he would want to draw first and as Max laid the plate down in front of him, he looked into the black chasms of Max's eyes and knew exactly what he would draw first. He looked at Max's raggedly cut hair, his mis-matched skin and his stark black stitches that accentuated his beauty for some reason and thought he was perfect to draw. Then his mind quickly went to the possibilities of what the music room would behold and if it would happen to contain a cello or flute.Yes, he loved all instruments and could play many of them, but the cello and the flute could produce such a haunting and lonely melody that he found both instruments to become perfection with him. He looked down at the table while his mouth moved silently, accidentally betraying what he was thinking. He had a habit of that also when he thought hard or was consumed by a thought. He shook his head yet again to focus on what was in front of him instead of what he could be doing.
He stared down at the plate in front of him and was shocked. The food looked like something from a book or magazine. The steak was dripping juices and had seasons overlaying it. and the potato, it was overflowing with condiments and spices. It looked almost to perfect to touch. He looked up from his ogling and cleared his throat, trying to clear the bewilderment from his voice. "It looks amazing, Master. But why do you not have a plate yourself?" He fidgeted a bit under the close scrutiny of Max's stare.

---Max was happy when he saw Jasper's face light up at his words and couldn't help but feel a bit accomplished in some small way. He noticed the other's lips moving and blinked a bit, attempting to catch his words. He managed to hear something about a cello... Max smiled a bit, figuring the other had liked the idea of a music room. He would make sure this was the best house Jasper had even been too. He wanted a friend not a slave. He wanted someone to keep him company, but who would see him on the street and do that?
The question distracted Max from his thoughts and he gave a small, slightly nervous laugh. "Oh, I don't eat," he said. "It doesn't seem to mix well with my body and it ends up coming back to haunt me, if you know what I mean." Though he did like the taste of food, he didn't like the taste of it coming back up so he resisted the urge to eat anything. Gesturing to Max's plate, he gave a small, "Try it, try it. I'm sure you'll love it! Maybe... And then I'm sure you must be tired. If you want you can sleep when you're done. Or a warm shower. I'm sure you probably haven't gotten many of those."---

Jasper's face molded into one of thought and confusion. Damn, he really wanted to know what his new master was, but he obviously didn't even know himself. He sighed and figured this was a puzzle he could figure out for the next couple of years. That's all his masters usually kept him, either he had used up all of his usefulness or died. He couldn't count how many times that he had masters look at him in disgust, especially the temptress woman's. God, that was the worst one.
Jasper kind of felt bad for his new master, since he couldn't taste food, Jasper personally loved food, although it really was a rare occurrence for him since his old masters knew he was a demon and that he really didn't need to eat that much. He eyed Max, wondering how much he knew about demon's and figured he was really naive. He couldn't help but smile to himself, teaching Max what demons could do was going to be fun. He took a bite of the steak and his mouth exploded in flavor. He smiled up at Max, trying to be polite and waited until he swallowed the bite until he said anything. "It is really quite something, Master, thank you." He smiled shyly, self-conscious of what he was doing since Max was staring at him intently. As soon as he said something about going to sleep he figured he would tell his master a bit of something about demons. " I don't really need to sleep, Master, it's part of my heritage. But if you wouldn't mind i would like to see this music room you speak of."

---Max seemed to brighten considerably when he was told his cooking was good. It meant he hadn't spent months teaching himself for nothing. The whole time he had been worried he was learning the wrong way and everything he made turned out horrible. It didn't help that Clone loved to put Max down as much as possible, and often made comments on food that usually looked good tasted like s**t. Speaking of which... Now that Max had someone to talk to, Clone seemed unusually quiet. It almost felt like he was plotting something, but Max passed it off as nothing as he smiled widely, his stitches stretching far enough that it almost looked like it hurt, but he didn't seem to notice if it did.
"I'm glad you like it! I'll be sure to cook for you every night if you want. Whenever you're hungry just come and ask, no problem." He was super excited about having a meal of his tried for the first time. So far ordering a slave had been the best decision of his life. No only did Jasper seem totally fine with the house, but he was perfectly fine with Max and the cooking and actually seemed somewhat happy. At least Max hoped he was happy. "I wouldn't mind showing you the music room," he agreed with a nod, the smile never leaving his lips. "When you're done eating just let me know and I'll show you." Even better if Jasper didn't need much sleep, because Max needed his every night, and he didn't want the demon to be bored while he slept.---

Jasper watched as Max's face distorted as he smiled. Jasper was still a bit freaked out by it but figured with time he would become used to the pale skin stretching over the black stitches. He like the idea that he would get to eat like this every night if he so wanted to. Max didn't know how much a luxury all of this was. From the food to the instruments to the treatment a slave really couldn't ask for more and Jasper wondered if Max knew that.
Jasper couldn't help but smile himself at the promise of music. He ate as fast as he could while still being polite and dabbed his face with the napkin. He was quite full and he couldn't remember the last time he was full. He smiled a bit wider and stood up. He prayed that he had a cello or a flute in that room, but if not he was due to learn a new instrument.

---Jasper really looked happy as he cleaned his plate, and Max couldn't help but wonder if it was just because the food was good or it he had gotten anything to eat in awhile. Or maybe he was just excited to see the music room. Max couldn't remember all the instruments in there, but he knew a lot of them were in disrepair. Standing, he left the plate there and promised himself to wash it later. "I'm really glad you liked your food," he said, smiling as he led Jasper off upstairs.
The music room was behind a door on the second level, which led to another flight of stairs curling up inside a small tower. At the top was a round room surrounded by windows on most sides, that were surprisingly still intact. Torn and bug-eaten sheet music was scattered across the floor, some too faded to read or too torn to use. There was a piano in the corner that still looked like it could play, however. The rest of the instruments were scattered about, strings missing or parts crushed and dusty. It was a sad room. One that you could imagine filled with music in it's grand but had been reduced to almost rubble. Max wished he had fixed up this room too.
"Um..." Poking around with a frown, he tried to find something usable. "I know there were a few instrument cases around here somewhere... I've never opened them, but if they have a case they should be alright, I think... Ah!" In the corner stacked behind what looked like termite-eaten wooden music stands were a few small cases. Piccolo, flute, what looked like a violin and some sort of horn. "They may need to be shined up a bit, but..." Flipping open the flute case, Max was proud to see the instrument looked workable, nothing missing or crushed. It was just tarnished. The violin had extra strings in the case, even, and a Clarinet held a few old but non cracked reeds. "Will this work for now until I can revamp the room?"---

Jasper followed Max through more corridors, stairs and hallways. He tried to look into the rooms that they passed but most were closed tightly or they were walking too fast to even view into them. He was losing himself in the brickwork of the spiral staircase they were walking up when he looked up. He let out a small gasp as he seen the room. The room was perfectly round and encased with windows on almost every side. He gazed out of the windows with the eyes of a painter as he saw the delicate trees and sloping hills of outside. He quickly jerked himself away from the sight of the windows and the scenery to view nearly the most beautiful and sad scene he had ever scene. He gazed across the room upon all of the neglected instruments as they reflected the sunlight that was coming through the windows. His gaze fell upon broken necks of violins, rusted metal, and sheet music the couldn't even be read anymore. He walked forward and picked up a stray piece of sheet music only to have the disappointment of it being too faded to read. As he was crouched down on the floor he saw a grand piano under a film of dust. He looked around and saw that Max had gone searching for something in the beautiful tragedy that this room was. He careful tiptoed around all the broken down instruments with a heavy heart but as he approached the piano his heart leapt. He didn't know how to play piano really but it was such a beautiful instrument. He trailed his fingers along the dust covered ebony case to the keys and lifted the case up. He was immediately greeted by a couple of spiders skidding away and also by a cloud of dust. He looked at the off-white keys and barely placed his fingers on their porcelain skeletons.
He smiled as he turned around and was greeted by the sight of Max pulling out a few cases. They looked like a violin case, a flute case, and one other he could not recognize. He walked hastily up to the Flute case and took the case gingerly into his hands. When he opened up the case he trailed his fingers over the tarnished metal and nearly cried from the obvious neglect and nearly cried from joy that it was playable. He sat down on the dusty floor and began assembling the instrument. He became very meticulous with placing the pieces together just right and making sure that all of the accessories were also in the case.

---Max couldn't help but watch the way Jasper looked around the room with such sad eyes. It really was a pity the music room was in such disarray. But at least he knew where to spend his money once he found it. It would straight into fixing the music room, getting more instruments, and maybe some sheet music to go with it. He could refurbish the piano too, since it seemed like Jasper had taken an interest in it. It would be nice to music through the halls of the desolated castle. "When I get the money I'll go ahead and fix up this room and the instruments," Max said as he watched Jasper gently pick up the flute case and start piecing it together carefully. The thing was rusted in some places and was probably out of tune, but Jasper looked very happy to have such a simple thing in his hands. Max sat down across from him, watching him with a happy smile.---

Jasper Looked up at Max, momentarily distracted from the cold instrument cradled in his hands. He offered him a genuine smile at the mysterious man, thinking of all of the instruments that this room contained and also about how beautiful the room would be. He imagined instruments lining the walls with the smell of valve oil and cork grease permeating the air. The thought filled him with wonder and happiness. He had never seen so many instruments before in his life, he was just saddened to see them in such a state.
He shook his head, sending his raven black hair flying across his face and horns, as he tried to clear the image from his mind and focus on what song he should play. He knew instantly what song he would play. It was a mournful Irish tune called "The Fairie Girl's Lament". He knew this song by heart and tested out the fingerings before he placed his lips above the mouthpiece and played a couple of notes. He soon found the tune and began slowly playing, losing himself in the mezzo pianos and decrescendos. He imagined himself falling through staff bars and quarter rest. The world behind his eye;lids molding into one of deep rich colors.

---Max was really starting to like Jasper, even if he was a bit quiet and odd. Not that he had much room to speak... But the boy just seemed very thoughtful and precise, especially when handling the instrument. Simple things made him happy, like the thought of revamping the music room, and Max found himself wanting to see more of those happy, bright little smiles. They seemed to warm up the musty, old castle.
He watched as Jasper fingered a few keys before raising the flute to his lips and playing. The sound was a bit flat since the flute hadn't been used in years, but Jasper seemed to find a way to make it work. The song was slow and sad and Max seemed to hang on every note, his dark eyes lit up. Honestly, he had never heard music before. Not that he could remember, anyway. He didn't get out much and he didn't know how to use any of the instruments that were usable. But Jasper did and the notes he coxed from the old flute were beautiful, haunting, and very literally brought black tears to Max's eyes.---

Jasper kept his eyes closed as he finished his haunting musical tale. He sighed and smiled as he opened his eyes to see max staring at him with misted over eyes. He smiled sheepishly in response. Jasper wondered idly why Max was staring at him so much and then kind of answered the question. Max doesn't remember any life past five years ago, he probably doesn't remember someone smiling or even speaking civily to him. His face contorted into one of sadness for a split second before he composed himself again, the last thing Max probably wanted was pity.
Jasper set down the flute with cautious fingers and looked up at Max. "Have you not heard music before, Master?" Jasper asked this with a touch of sadness leaking into his voice despite his efforts to compose himself. Jasper could not imagine the world with out the beauty of music. It explained what words can not and it creates a piece of art all on it's own. When artists draw they paint on canvas, when a musician plays they paint on silence.
