> >Valdien
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Valdien stood on the crest of a hill, looking out over the herds spread out below him.
A faint breeze stirs his mane, blowing stray locks of hair over his eyes.
It seemed as if he was always on patrol these days. The Six's Agents had infiltrated the herds a month ago, and because of that, they had lost sixteen unbonded Azrein. Thankfully, Valdien had rooted out the agents and had put an end to them, showing no mercy.
But no matter how brutally he had disposed of them, it could not erase the pain of losing those who could have Chosen. The numbers of Azreth's herds were dwindling due to the underground war, and if more Azrein did not Choose, then the battle would surely be lost.
Valdien heaved out a sigh, lowering his head. All was clear, for now, at any rate. For the first time in a month, Valdien allowed himself to relax. The day was perfect for doing so; it was late in Spring, and there was just enough of a breeze to keep it from being unbearably hot. The stallion grazed, occasionally stomping a foreleg to keep the flies from burrowing in under the bracers he wore, one eye always on the herds below.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Dira laid upon her side in the bright green spring grass. It smelled just as she liked it,fresh and relaxing.Flicking her tail and took a large deep breath taking in all the nice cool air as she could.Rolling onto her back she kicked her legs around as she rolled playfully on the grass. She loved it when she could get all that terrible hair they grew during the winter. It was way too hard to take care of.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Valdien's ears twitched slightly, alert for any sound out of the ordinary. For now, all seemed well. The Greater Herd was content, there were no signs of worry or distress among them, for which Val was thankful.
The stallion's ears picked up the faint sounds of an Azrein rolling in the lush grass, and Valdien turned to investigate. Trotting towards the noise, the stallion pulled up short, the gold bracers strapped to his hocks catching the sun's rays in a brilliance of light.
"Ah. You must be new to the Greater Herd." Vandrian's voice spoke quietly; a deep baritone amidst the sopranos of birdsong. "Let me be the first to welcome you. I am Valdien, Protector of the Herds." The stallion extended a foreleg, sinking into a formal bow.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Dira was just rolling by herself until she heard this stallion calling over her.Blinking the mare rolled over and got up onto her hooves."I am,this is a wonderful place here.Thank you Valdien. Its a pleasure to be in your presence."The mare bowed her head slowly."I am Dira,You do seem like a wonderful protector."She smiled at the stallion. He seemed more like a king then a protector, but that's just what she thought.

The stallion smiled, giving his wings a shake to settle them about his withers. "Thank you for your compliment; I do my best to ensure that the Greater Herd is at ease." In fact, that was the sole reason the stallion greeted every Azrein he could personally; like his King, Valdien wished to know most, if not all, on sight. It made it much easier to notice newcomers or those who didn't belong.

She nodded slowly to him.He was so gentle with all the new ones around the lands. That's just what she needed,a warming welcome."My pleasure,Valdien."The mare said softly and looked to him."Everything? Not exactly.I just wonder where the berries or even the waterfalls are located. If you do have any, those are my favorites of the lands."
