His eyes were drawn once again to the ruins that stood out in the distace, silhouetted against the blue sky like an opposition against the endless blue horizon. Still, despite how the crumblings ruins fought against the elements, Mother Nature was slowly taking over as the Poena Privus Castle fought her each step of the way, protesting against being torn down. Theo was conetent to just sit here and see something in the distance, something he would one day reach. However long the road, however ardous the journey, he would make it. No pain, no gain. He reminded himself yet again even as he sat here out on the rocky outcropping, the ocean waves crashing below and the gulls crying softly.

It was quiet and peaceful here, and no one would come searching for him. He liked the quiet and peace of it, where the sky, earth and sea all met in one place. It was hell to be here if there was a storm, but when Theo saw the elments raging around him, a primal instinct in him awoke and made his blood pound in his veins, bringing a surge of adrenaline through his body.

However, given the clear skies there was little, if any chance of that happening today. Sighing, he started planning out again in his head. He would one day reach those ruins and be found worthy to enter them as a Black Heart, at the very least a Reaper.

He hadn't ever anticipated that he would find himself on a beach - generally speaking, armour clad men and women didn't tend to frequent such places very often. There were a number of reasons for this but Lawsonia Alexander would hazard a guess that one of these was for the simple reason that sand was one of the few materials capable of seeping through the cracks and rivets in said armour - however, unlike other materials, it didn't seem to ever get out again. It led to a significant level of discomfort that the Black Heart was forced to live with until such times as he could strip his attire off and tip the sand back out again... it was perhaps one of the least dignified things a knight could be seen doing.

Alas, he had no other choice but to be here for the simple reason that his quarry had been sighted nearby and under no circumstances could he permit it to escape. It took a very brave sort of majin to come so close to Poena Privus, those who aspired to be Witch Eaters were annihilated long before the breached the outer walls and yet despite this knowledge, there was always one who was reckless enough to try it. Admittedly the foolish creature was not one who caused immediate concern and as a consequence only one Reaper was required - if it hadn't been for the sand invading every part of his body like an unwanted harlot, Lawsonia would have been inclined to take this duty as a compliment...As it was, he sincerely wished they had sent a light weight Reaper instead - they didn't wear armour.

Nevertheless, the Black Heart heaved a sigh and slung his polearm over his shoulder, resting it in the crook of his neck as he trudged along the higher reaches of the beach. For the time being his trail had gone cold and as such, he had little other option to head in a straight line until he caught the blasted things scent. Step by step he drew nearer to Theo and yet, elected to ignore him entirely. In fact, it appeared that six hours of trudging across the beach had brought the Black Heart to the end of his tether - consequently, the second he reached one of the outcroppings he came to an abrupt halt and promptly tugged off his helmet.

It was with a 'thonk' that it was set upon the top of one of the boulders and another of these sound effects was soon to follow as Lawsonia sat himself down, lifted up one of his legs and brushed the large, scarlet panels of his armour to one side. A momentary pause in which he dug his polearm into the sands and then he began to inspected the straps on his boot. Suffice to say that it would have been difficult to ignore the added weight of the sand within it. Thus, once he had inspected the straps it wasn't very long at all before the man began to undo them, one by one, until he was at last able to pull off the boot - what came next was almost fitting of a comedy show. As he tilted his boot upside down, the amount of sand that exited them was almost enough to construct a small sand castle...

No wonder he had such a deep frown on his face!

It was rather dreamy really, just sitting here and staring out at the ruins. Theo rarely sat still for anything. In fact, the only thing he could ever remember sitting down and just staring was whenever he was with phil. The restless part of him stirred, impatient to get going and urging him to get up. Shut up. He told that side of himself. He was entitled to sit around, considering that he was always rushing around for something or another. He could laze around in bed the whole day, if he were so inclined. But it was much better out here, the sea breeze caressing his face, the sharp tang of salt in the air and the crashing of the waves below him.

Loud clanking broke into the idyll, alerting him to another's presence. Theo's head spun around and he saw a rather intimidating armour-clad figure approaching. The helmet came off to reveal a man as he set his helmet down on a rock, making more than a little noise. The man seemed to heave a great sigh as he plonked down on a nearby rock with a crash and began undoing his boots. The amount of sand that trickled out amounted to a small hill, almost as knee high. Theo watched, slightly amused. If that was just one boot, imagine the rest.

The man's polearm glinted in the sunlight, drawing Theo's attention to it. It was unusual, since not very many carried around polearms. Besides the Cernberus Knights and the Black Hearts, that was. And judging from the man's general demeanour, he was very more likely a Black Heart than a Cerberus Knioght. He had the look of frustration on his face which could only come from chasing someone for a rather long time and being unsuccessful. This piqued Theo's interest. A Black Heart, here in front of him. Perhaps there was something he could learn from him...

Getting to his feet rather lightly, Theo walked over to the armoured man and watched as he started on the other boot. No doubt the sand in there would be of a similar amount as the previous boot. "I take it you're chasing a Majin?" Theo asked, studying the older man more closely.

Theo was certainly an observant individual in that respect and the ability to read another individual's facial expression was certainly an important one. If he already possessed the basic necessities then he was already over the first hurdle when it came to pursuing his dream. That being said, Lawsonia hadn't really made it difficult to spot that he was unimpressed and the true test would come when the younger witch encountered a person who was attempting to hide their true intentions. Alas, expertise developed with exposure and experience... For all Lawsonia knew, he could already possess a knack for it.

As it was, the Black Heart didn't immediately respond to the Witch as he bridged the distance between them. Instead, the knight focused on tipping the remaining sand out of his boots and then proceeded to put them back on. It was only when he had fastened one of these firmly back onto his foot and calf that he looked up for the first time and gave Theo the recognition he deserved. Unfortunately for Theo, the response he was waiting for would take a little longer to come... Lawsonia might have noted his existence but that didn't mean he had to converse further until he was satisfied with his immediate concerns.

Another few moments passed by as the Knight finally set about reattaching his second boot and when he had finally finished that, he looked up once more. Steepling his fingertips together, he leant forward and rested his elbows on his knees. All things considered, the Black Heart was rather relaxed and showed no further signs that the majin's lost trail was causing frustration. In fact, it would have been accurate to assume that the absence of the sand had improved his mood by significant levels as he had a much lighter and amicable expression marked across his features.

"First and foremost, you're going to confirm to me that those horns are a direct result of some ridiculous ingredient in your favoured tea," he spoke at last, his tone whimsical. "Rather than the direct result of the process of transforming into a Witch Eater," he continued. His eyebrow arched delicately at this point but he appeared to mean no immediate harm - he remained in his place, his elbows still resting comfortably on his knees and even his eyes appeared to lack the glint of a hunter.

Suffice to say, it seemed that Theo was safe.

"However you would be absolutely right in your assumptions - then again, it's a little like stating the obvious when you encounter a Reaper, no?" he chuckled softly and released a sigh. "We're always pursuing something."

Theo wouldn't call himself observant really. Just perceptive. He could be very oblivious to the point he couldn't see what was infront of his face. But he read people like open books. Their emotions, their faces. Body language. Everything was a dead giveaway if you knew what you were looking for. Slight tilt of the head, a shift in position, tightening of the lips, twitch of the eye. They could tell you everything about a person. Were they impatient? Irritated? Angry? One just needed to know how to look. Right now, the other man seemed rather irritated and definitely not too keen on company. That much he could tell. Still, Theo settled on a nearby rock and continued to watch as yet another mound of sand emerged from a boot. He seemed to be in a better mood after said sand had been dumped out. Theo for one, didn't mind having sand between his toes. To each their own, he supposed as he watched the Black Heart relax somewhat and turn his attention upon Theo.

He wasn't sure if he was more amused or puzzled as to why the Black Heart wanted to know if the horns were an after effect of his tea or otherwise. He did admit it set him out to be a Mononoke, but he definitely wasn't that. "What if it isn't a side effect of my tea?" He asked, keeping a blank mask on his face. "And very unfortunately, I am not a Witch Eater. Sorry to disappoint." He shrugged nochalantly. "However, if I were, you'd be chasing me now, or we'd be locked in some epic struggle that would have half of Moonfall watching, I suppose." He added, a touch of dry humour in his voice. "That or be severely outnumbered by the sudden influx of reapers here since we are, after all, near Poena Privus." His lips quirked in a slight smile.

"Ah, the life or a reaper. Always moving, never stopping." Theo's voice held a note of irony. "Must be tiring though, never having someplace permanent to stay at." He mused. "Though I suppose such a nomadic existence does have its appeal. You see places, meet people." He shifted a little to get comfortable, blue eyes intent on the dark-haired man before him. Something told him they wouldn't be out here too long, seeing as the man was wearing armour and the weather was rather warm, even more so as the skies were clear.
