Quest For Persephone - 590k/5.5mil (edited angeni-kalona)STORY TAIM! biggrin  I've always wanted horses. When I was 3 years old, I "won" a wishbone with my Dad, squealed, ran for the window, and broke into sobs because "my pony wasn't tied to the swing set". We lived in town, there was no way, but a little kid doesn't know this! As I grew up, my aunt and uncle moved to the country and got horses. I visited them like crazy, wanting, yearning for my own. I was so jealous of my cousin, who didn't seem to even care that she HAD a barn...and it hurt when I wanted it so badly and she'd be like "Oh I went riding today." So at fourteen, I joined 4-H. I leased an elderly cob gelding named Dan...and he was the sweetest, gentlest guy in the world. A great beginner's horse, even if we did horribly in the shows. LOL. At fifteen, my dad was offered a mare from a co-worker for free...and I begged. She was so beautiful. We went to Ohio and got her, boarding her down the road a few miles. Persephone was a 12-year-old yellow dun Morgan/Quarter Horse mare, the prettiest little thing...but she was a demon. Having been left to pasture for 3 years, she was pretty much green under the saddle and bucked/reared over a trot. She was a patience trying gal... Still, she was mine, and I loved her. She was calm on the ground and we worked through a year of 4-H. One of the best weeks of my life was during horse camp, when we were there for like a week straight, and we started really bonding. If I would've had her on our property, a barn in my backyard, it would've worked out. As it was, my parents didn't want me down at the barn alone because the lady's husband was a biker... So I got to see her less and less. And then my dad decided that she was too much money (despite him spending 10k on a new freakin' boat) and put her up for sale. Some guy took her. And I don't know where she ended up going. My dad was the sort of guy to cut his losses and be "free" of the problem (for him, a money-suck; yeah, he's a wonderful guy LOL). So...I don't know where she's at. It's been 8 years... I gave up horses for a long time after Seph, got big into dogs, but things have swung around and my love for horses is once again blooming. I know I'll never see Sephie again, but...it's okay. I'd like to get her in Soquili smile I'm trying for an edited regular at the moment, but after thinking...she was both an angel, and a demon.
