Violet:
Her owners had started putting her outside more often. Sometimes Violet would hear them talking about it, how they were starting to think that she was being cooped up too often. They considered things like getting someone to take her on walks or leaving her outside more often or even getting another dog for her as a friend.
It was a nice thought, but she had a friend. And when it all came down to it, all she wanted was for them to be happy again and for them to pay attention to her.
So, here she was, on her way to Tate's to see if he was home, to spend some time to him. She walked down one of the alleys, ears alert.
Drezi:
Drezi yawned, unable to sleep yet again he was pacing the streets tirelessly. He'd been kicked out of every yard he tried to scavenge from. His nightmares were full of strange thigns he couldn't recall but he knew they terrified him.
Drezi didn't have friends, those he did make always went away after they'd used him for distracting others. His smell alone left something to be desired, he didn't wash himself.. unless it rained. He hunkered behind a dumpster in an alley and closed his eyes, maybe he coudl get some....no... there was the slight clack of nails on the floor.. someone was coming... glowing eyes peered from behind the dumpster to see who was coming.
Violet:
She paused, smelling something... weird. Violet looked around, ears perked. Her brown eyes found glowing eyes looking back at her and she went on the defensive.
"Who's there?" she asked, taking a step back. She wasn't sure she liked meeting another creature out here like this, she would much rather have Tate here. He said he would protect her after all. Then again, Tate was a stray and he was a good dog, so she shouldn't really be so quick to judge.
Drezi:
Drezi sighed... the female voice made him twitch a little, it was always the females that shunned him but.. this one was scared.. not that meeting HIM in an alley would make her less afraid but if he went out, she'd know what she was facing at least, before she turned tail.. like they always did.
Tail and ears low, he crept out and showed himself, the long 'gash' on the side of his face obvious partly the cause for his strange smell. "I'm Drezi.... you're better off staying away lady" he said, his voice a flat monotone.
Violet:
Violet's eyes widened, ears tilting back with a small frown. This was a strange-looking dog and he told her that she was better off staying away. Why would he say that? Was he sick or something? She wouldn't expect a mean dog to actually tell her that he was a danger to her or anything of that sort.
"Why? Are you sick or something?" she asked, with a frown.
Drezi:
Drezi gave a humorless chuckle, "You could say that lady" he said, tail low, well.. she wasn't running away at the first sight of him.. that was good? .... maybe .. unless she was too shocked at seeing him to run away. "Why....aren't you running?" he asked, actually confused as to why she didn't appear frightened of him.
Violet:
"Because I haven't seen a reason to run, yet?" It was more of a question than anything else. Sure, he looked and smelled weird, but she wasn't used to street dogs. He could just be extra dirty.
"Is your face okay?" There was a bit of concern in her voice, but then she was something of a bleeding heart deep down.
Drezi:
Drezi tilted his head oddly, scratching at an ear as if plaughed by soemthing deep down in it "It's fine, for me... just an ooooooold wound i guess" he shrugged then sat down awkwardly, one leg stiff. "So .. you don't think you should run from me... i guess you've not inhaled too deeply" he added, turning his eyes on her warily. Was this another of those that wanted to use him for some reason?
Violet:
"Well, you do smell.... off-putting, but I don't know many stray dogs. For all I know, thats why you smell different," violet replied with a shrug as she, too, sat down. She was a few paces away, though, keeping her distance. He had warned her, after all, she didn't want to risk it if he had warned her for good reason.
Drezi:
Drezi grunted, "so you're a HOUSE dog huh?" he said, hos voice shifting from the monotone to a slightly derisive one, while the female had given him no cause to dislike her, house dogs... always teased him. Under his thick fur Drezi was quite thin, not having a roof over his head and such "What are you doing on the streets... go back to your humans... " he said with a sigh.
Violet:
Violet frowned, suddenly annoyed.
"I am," she replied a little shortly, not really pleased with his tone of voice.
"I was on my way to see a friend of mine, a stray friend," she added with a flick of her tail. She should just leave, go on her way so that she could be with Tate. She didn't need any more friends, and this guy obviously didn't want anyone around him. At least not from what she could tell.
Drezi:
Drezi licks his chops, "you're well fed" he grins humorlessly, he's teasing but she didn't know that. "a stray friend huh?.. pretty lady like you... and you're friends with a stray?" he got up and took a step nearer "Where are they?" he said, voice a little menacing as he moved towards her. "I'd get back to your nice, warm..... well fed life lady .. you don't wanna be out here for too long.. never know who you might meet" he said, licking his lips again as if she was making him hungry.
Tate:
It had taken her too long to come to see him. He had grown worried. It wouldnt take long for her to get to him.. He lowered his nose and sniffed across the pavement. He didnt smell her and he frowned again and began trotting. He had to get to her.. His gut told him so.
Violet:
She stood and took a step back, her expression and posture defensive. She growled low in the back of her throat.
"You don't scare me," she replied, but every muscle in her body was tensed to run. She wouldn't have far to go, but she didn't want to lead him to Tate's home.
"You don't know anything about me."
Tate:
Tate smelled the male before he actually caught hers. He felt his hackles rise and he tore off. His paws clacked against the road. It didnt take him long to get to her and the aussie was lucky he hadnt already gone for his throat. Instead he growled again and lowered his head. Looking warningly at the male with rage in his eyes.
Violet:
Suddenly Tate was there between her and the strange male. Violet's heart rose, eyes brightening and she nipped at him, jerked her head over her shoulder, turned tail, and ran back the way she'd come. Her intent was to both prevent conflict between the male and Tate and also to just get away from the... strange dog.
