~~ Introduction ~~ This herd, of course, contains spoilers.
This herd is a mix of the two games in the DS visual novel game, Theresia. It's also classified as horror. The separate territory sides are the two stories of Theresia, basically. Poppy's Lie is a reference to the flower you see all over the landscape of both games. I find it looks like a Poppy and how it spreads, it's like it's giving remembrance and respect to the many fallen in place of there never being nor going to be any flowers on their graves. Lie could be for all the fallen. For all the lies the government probably told. For the two areas being the resting places for the unknown flowers.
Note I have the necessary min amount of numbers to make this real, but I'm going to wait. You may still join, but you won't get the herd bonus until Adil and Neva are in their proper positions. You may however still pick a side. If your Star would be happier with the healers, they can be living in Poppy's Lie, free from the virus and be able to play out when they are invaded. My Nilima is an original member of Poppy's Lie, so she'll be available for RP. If your Star would be happier in the army, they can be traveling with it towards the settlement. My Emile Theresia is here, so she'll be available for RP.

~~ The History And Landscape ~~ History
The flowers had always been there. Those strange red ones that spread so quickly from a single bloom. They were there when the Stars arrived and because of their beauty, because the Stars felt it a sacred place, they set up a settlement devoted to the healing and taking in of stray Stars, young and old. They built tunnels underground, to better find room for the growing settlement as some of those lost and healed decided to stay and lend a hoof.
Behind the settlement and further up the mountain was a forest. A dark forest few dared to enter. It was thought something dark lay in the forest because of how the thick canopy kept it darker than a normal forest. This fear spread when a few brave Stars entered to prove the rest of the herd was just superstitious. While out in the forest they found nothing out of the ordinary. They returned, confident there was nothing out there.
But shortly after their return, they seemed to get sick with a mental virus. They began acting strangely, never in the same way as the next. Since it didn't spread to others, healers were mystified on what was wrong. When the Stars got violent, they were locked up until a cure could be found. None was since the doctors could never discover what it was. The Stars died after a time.
Investigations were held to find the cause. Stars were bundled up against whatever virus lay in wait within the forest and they put up a fence to keep any vermin out who might be carrying it.
Then one day the flowers stopped blooming. No one was quite sure why, those little red flowers no one bothered to name. The history of the mountain was unknown to them, just as much as the flowers were, so most of the Stars assumed whatever had been making them grow only in that one area had run out. Despite their flower now gone, the Stars continued with their practice, though their heart's all felt something missing. In hopes of finding the flower, they entered the forest.
Landscape
Territory Poppy's Lie sits on the side of a mountain, about halfway up on a flat surface. From below, the few buildings left behind by the humans can be seen, usually causing either suspicion or curiosity in those looking up at it. This also makes it easy to create tunnels, often burrowing into the mountain. There are various ways inside these tunnels from hidden locations around the mountain, but the most used are the ones located inside the Chapel and Hospital.
The Vegetation Same as a forest of North America. Pines and branched trees cover the forest and inside the territory. Fruit trees are abundant in the orchard, and many varieties of vegetables and fruits grow. The only difference is the only flower that ever seems to grow here are the strange red ones. They spread fast and have been around ever since the invaders came. Attempts to plant other flowers are never successful. The flower is not toxic and can be eaten. However most Stars do not, as they see the flowers as sacred plants that protect their settlement. (Emile is holding one of the flowers in her mouth, if you want a look at them.)

~~ Rules: IC and OOC ~~ For Your Consideration
Epicari is an important part of the story. So if you enjoy the theme, but not the virus, I would advise you more to go after a Theresia or avoid the herd altogether. The game has two Theresia, Emile and Martel, of unknown relation. There should only be those two first Gen Theresia. Why? There was only one Theresia per game to provide help in the form of the DNA and I want to keep that theme. Do not worry, though. One Theresia is plenty DNA to make many doses and the immunity is inheritable. Descendants of Emile and Martel will have the same immune DNA that can be used in the vaccine. Stars do not need to all contract the virus. Just don't enter the forest behind the herd. On that note, you don't need to kill off your Star if you don't want to. Even without Martel or Emile, there will be vaccines hidden underground from the previous owners from when the virus was first created. So there should be nothing to fear. You may, however, have to subject your Star to being chained up if you continue with their symptoms. But unless they resist, still, they should be cured fairly quickly with little where to run to. Only Theresia DNA shall be used in the vaccine. I have nothing against cosplays from other medias who are immune to most illnesses coming in, I'm just concerned if this turns into a herd of mostly immune. Then that makes it no fun. Epicari usually strikes in waves, so there will be times it seems like it's gone, then someone will find a place it's been hiding and it will return. I'd like some sort of interest in joining me on this if you wish your Star to join. My herds were meant for everyone to be able to join in on and I intended to make herd-wide plots to include everyone.

~~ Culture ~~ Timeline The game is not clear in what century it takes place. The years in the journals have the first two numbers as xx, but the remaining two are usually between 30-50. But the dress of the game, the equality of the sexes, and the technology used makes it look present day. So to play in this setting, you need only think of present day.
Religion It is similar to or is Christianity. In both games, religion was very important and there were always quiet places set up for worship. Below the Chapel, in the underground area, are two rooms for conducting worship with or without the Priests where an individual may go for some solitude.
During the first outbreak, the Chapel was where the infected bodies were stored while they awaited to be burned. That Chapel has been burned down and a new one made for fear of Epicari clinging to the walls and hiding in cracks of the old Chapel. The ruins still stand, off to one side as a precaution not all the virus was killed in the fire. Youngsters and guests are forbidden from entering.
Housing And Underground The herd does work in actual dwellings. Naturally the doors do not have knobs, they have hoof holes near the bottom so they can be opened and closed and locked, as there is a metal lock above the hoof hole. The whole territory was once habituated by humans, so the Stars need only make repairs to the buildings when needed, usually with the help of the forest critters. When not working, the Stars sleep and have their quarters underground, with many air ducts to flow in fresh air. A family is given their own small living space and once the children of the couple grow to adulthood, they are moved to their own space. Mated couples naturally share a space, leaving one partner's old space open for someone else. When new tunnels are needed, new ones are made.
On one floor of the underground below the Chapel is a prison area, where the torture takes place and the captives are locked up. Almost directly below that is a burial chamber, where the bodies are laid out on shelves if not infected by Epicari. Below the prison and away from it is the housing for the military and their families.
The hospital is two floors, with their underground located in the hospital. The rest of the herd lives there, leaving the military and their practices to themselves.

~~ The Virus: Epicari ~~ Symptoms
First Stage Epicari attacks the brain. It is hard to notice at first in some, because it doesn't actually make the individual sick in the sense of most illnesses and diseases. What it does is enhance a person's personal problems. Some examples are as follows:
- Franz disliked how he looked, so when he contracted the disease, he would at first cover his face with a surgical mask. As he got worse, he upgraded to full masks he made himself, with expressions. - The first case was a boy who refused to use his right hand, despite not being left handed. He would freak if anyone touched his right hand. This had something to do with his brother. - There has been someone afraid of blue. - There was a boy who tried to sew up every hole in his body. - Maylee used to hurt herself, probably out of guilt of what she had done.
Most who have Epicari also don't notice it themselves. So when confronted, they tend to deny it.
Second Stage Memory loss. At first, it's just small things. What you had for breakfast, for instance. Something that doesn't matter and you wouldn't attribute to the virus. It grows to include more important things, like the way to a certain location of the herd or even where your living arrangements are. It ends with your own name. The progression of this symptom may or may not be finished by the time death occurs. When the vaccine is taken, the memory slowly returns, usually in little snippets that seem to make no sense at first.
Third Stage Aggression. On top of the abnormal behavior and memory loss is a lot of aggression for often no reason. The individual will attack others with intents to kill, often times randomly even when the two are just sitting quietly.
Last Stage Death. I have altered this from the game, but the above two are the same.
Death occurs when the infected can't tolerate something about themselves. In the case of the boy, he tried to cut off his right hand, resulting in death from blood loss when help couldn't be given quick enough. For the doctor, he tried to kill his comrades with an axe, his mask fell off in the struggle, and he fell face first on the blade.
After Death After death bodies are burned. It's a way to cleanse the soul of the victim from the disease. Their ashes are then spread across the red flowers to forever stay with their friends and family in the settlement.
The Vaccine Fortunately, there is a cure. Theresia is the name of the vaccine, a combination of tiny organisms and the DNA of a Theresia. This doesn't require said Theresia to die, though. A bit of DNA seems able to create many doses. It's unclear how it works, but it appears to make the individual immune. Nonetheless, Epicari still manages to surface every so often and it seems pointless to take the vaccine while you have not contracted the virus. So the vaccine is not a shot to prevent it, it's to cure it.
The fact Epicari keeps coming back is probably due to it being able to survive outside the body. In Dear Martel, where it was most brutal and new, it could even be frozen and still affect the main character when he entered the freezer. So much so, he had to take the vaccine he had been holding onto. All that Epicari made him feel weak and he couldn't continue. When not froze, it was slowly consuming the hospital. There were beads of Theresia on the walls that the Epicari, upon contact, would smother.
Theresia, when looked on, looks like squirming beads of blood. They often escape their test tubes and require the doctors to go chase them down. Despite their appearance, they are harmless. It also has a side affect, but the game won't tell us what.
DNA Donors Theresia is, if you haven't guessed yet, made from the DNA of the family of the same name. For whatever reason, the DNA of a Theresia makes them immune. Martel exhibited this in Dear Martel, the game prior to the events of Dear Emile, by burying the bodies of the Epicari victims by herself. The children who done so in the beginning had gotten sick, as well. But Martel remained fine.
I am unsure of her relation to Emile. It never says.
Quotes About Epicari
I'm playing through Dear Martel a second time, so when I come across them, I'll write them here.

~~ Herd Ranks ~~ The Side of War
The Military
Since the military is expected to go out to battle when the time arises, Stars who have not contracted Epicari and been cured for it are not allowed to join. Infected Stars are a danger to enemy and ally both and if they were to die, that would spread the disease outside the herd.
Commander The leader. He/she must work together with the other leader for the benefit of the entire herd. The commander is more focused on the military side of the herd, keeping the army in line and giving out orders. Available Just 1.
Officers Those who carry out the orders of the Commander for him/her, if he/she is not able. They are also in charge of their own groups of Stars in the military. Available Just 3, right now.
Soldiers The rest of the military. They are assigned an officer to report to. Available Unlimited.
The Judgement
Head of the Torture Division Just as the name suggests. To extract confessions from their enemies, this group of Stars was put together and this single Star leads over them all. Available Just 1.
The Torture Division Just as the name suggests. Blood is their work and they carry it everywhere they go like a second skin. Available About 3, right now.
The Training Yard
Combat Trainers They prepare new recruits for the army, teaching them all the skills required of them. Available About 2, right now.
Blacksmiths These Stars make the weapons and armor worn by the military. Available Unlimited.
The Side of Healers
The Hospital
Headmaster/Headmistress The leader of the original herd members. He/she is more focused on the healing of the sick and the taking in of the lost. Available Just 1.
Head Doctor Second-in-command only to the Headmaster/Headmistress. Available Just 1. Reserved for Maylee
Doctors The rest of the healing staff. A doctor, since they deal with the infected, has the highest chance of catching the virus if they haven't already. Available Unlimited.
Nurses Helpers for the doctors and scientists. Available Unlimited.
Scientists Those researchers who have more interest in studying medicine and Epicari than dealing with the injured. They still answer to the Head Doctor, as Maylee is both a helper and a researcher. Available Unlimited.
The Chapel
Bishop Leader of the chapel, the Bishop also lives there to remain close at hand if he's needed and to be near his God. Little fact, Emile was afraid of the Bishop in the game. Available Just 1.
Priests The rest of the clergy, they aid the Bishop and do what duties he can't do. Available Unlimited.
The Village
Entrepreneur Stars with no purpose in the military or research. This is a title that can have a range of purposes mainly because I don't feel like listing all the possible ones you could have. Anything you think someone in a town could offer, you may list it alongside the Entrepreneur rank. Stars of other ranks still need their clothes repaired. Their children watched. Their food collected and prepared. Available Unlimited.

~~ Potentials Members ~~ These are merely just characters from the game. There are a few I'd like to see become real for the importance they played in the game. Such as the Head Doctor and the other Theresia.
Martel Theresia Half-sister of the main in Dear Martel. She is a sweet girl, always smiling and seeing the good in everything. Despite the dangers and before knowing she was immune, Martel would bury the bodies of the dead by herself. A notable accessory of hers are her bells, tied with a purple ribbon together. She would ring them when she wanted the attention of the children.
Maylee Head Doctor. Maylee was in both games. She was one of the doctors who made the virus by mistake and made the vaccine. She appeared in the second when Leanne's village and the invading army contracted the disease, again. She is cold, never hesitating to burn bodies so Epicari doesn't spread, and often telling Leanne love is an absurb and awful word.
Leanne The main of Dear Emile and Emile's adopted daughter. Leanne is a very confused girl who has been twisted by the equally twisted love of Emile. The smell of blood comforts her, because that's how her mother always smelled.
Franz A doctor from Dear Martel. Franz always thought of himself as ugly, so when he contracted Epicari, he would slowly cover his face more and more.

~~ Plots ~~ Arc 1: Origins of Epicari
Shortly after Adil and Neva are in their positions, Adil starts another investigation to find the source of the virus.
Arc 2: Vaccine Theresia
It is also discovered, through means I'm unclear on yet, that Emile is immune to the virus. Studies are put together to combine her DNA with the tiny organisms previously used.
