The Coven is the collective group of vampires all through the Isles. These vampires are limited to azrein only, and do not touch the humanoid species that also reside on the island. The Coven while a collective group, does not mean all vampires are "part" of it, but they come from it, thus they must all be known to the Coven. No exceptions. The Coven, was started by the original vampire azrein, named Noct Shade. He, at the side of Mal, is one of the Six. While vampires can be in other herds outside of The Coven, they must be known to Noct, as he's the original, and thus must be aware of all vampires in existence in the azrein species.

Rules, Traditions and Culture:
Noct Shade, is the founder and first vampire within the azrein breed.
His ways outline vampires, but they do not define them.
Vampires have strict sire-fledgling bonds and relationships.
Sires will teach their ways to fledglings.
For Noct, he has 5 rules, of which absolutely all vampires abide by.
The 5 Laws of Vampires:
1. Don't turn the weak.
2. Don't turn the good-hearted.
3. Kill your own kind only when necessary.
4. Never kill your sire.
5. Never betray your sire.
There are azrein that have broken some of these rules, like Liam Nightshade, and Eric Northman as they betrayed their sire, Noct Shade. There will be consequences.
The reason good-aligned azrein cannot be turned (they can be customed ONLY in certain events, as vampires cannot always be customed. You must check with Akira-Kisho before customing a vampire) is because the anamalistic side that is brought out in a new vampire is overwhelming, and will make the good-hearted do foul things, driving them insane till they kill themselves. Only old vampires who understand how their nature works, can become good over time (or with advanced plotting, always PM Akira on alignment changes for vampires) Neutral and evil can change easy though!
Vampires usually take on a new last name when changed by their sire. The last name usually is a reference to the sire. For example, Liam's sire is Noct Shade, thus his last name is Nightshade. This is not mandatory, but this is an old tradition that many vampires still abide by, in respect to Noct.
When two vampires engage in sexual relations, the female or the "mother parent" is the sire. Thus the offspring have the option of taking the mother parent's name in honor of them.
Vampires may seek audiences with Noct, and he will listen to them. Does not mean he will do what they want though.
Noct has a personal disgust in vampires who wish to cause ruin and murder constantly. He sees that as weak. Many vampires share this opinion as well. It is up to you as the owner of your azrein to decide their personalities, but do know during meta, if your vampire is bloodthirsty, Noct will be condescending and probably very insulted by the very presence of your azrein.
Vampires do not believe in second changes. Once you've scorned them, there is no forgiveness. Vendettas are high among vampires, and Noct is fine with them, thus this will not change his opinion of your azrein.
Vampires will frequently venture outside of their kind and mingle with those not of vampire blood. This will create offspring that are vampires or not vampires.
Only elites, bred together, can bring offspring into the world that can be sires.
Elites can sire 3 times.
Offspring of 2 elites, can sire once.
Halfbloods or less than half, cannot sire at all. Noct is the only one with the ability to turn an infinite number of times. There will be meta's in which standard azrein can try to prove their worth to Noct. "Nightshade" is an acceptable last name for those who are turned by Noct, but you are more than welcome to make another variation or not use it at all. It's just respect here to Noct, which for any vampire, azrein, you want to honor your sire, and your founding father.
Vampires are immortal, in the sense that they do not get sick or age, but they can be killed. Killing another vampire is a serious offense, and one must have a hearing with Noct so that he may judge it unnecessary (upon which the vampire will lose their vampiric side and become normal again) or that it was just and which he will dismiss them. He will never kill another vampire.
Vampire children age like regular azrein, but slow down in development when they reach adulthood, and thus stop aging. They lead normal childhoods though and do not begin to thirst for blood till after reaching adulthood. Some cases, they will have cravings for blood, but these are rare, and usually within offspring of elites.
Vampires must have fangs. End of story. They do not have to be huge, but there most be fangs exposed to alert all, vampire and not, to their breed. This is a breed characteristic. Other than that, vampires can have horns, wings, mutations, or anything else. There is no limitation, but the single requirement of fangs.
Just because in the rules, it states to never change the good-hearted, does not mean vampires do not change throughout their lives to the path of good. It's hard to create a good vampire at the start, because of the overwhelming craving for blood and the desire to please Noct, but as they age and grow, they can become good and work against the Six.
