There were dozens of them, the fireflies, lazily humming to and fro over the clear waters of the wood-surrounded spring, accompanied by the melody of crickets and frogs, and the occasional call of a night bird. Lutea was lost, always lost somewhere here and there in her travels, a nasty side effect of living most of your life in one single place, never moving.
Still, there was no trace of worry or concern within her, especially as she had journeyed just ever-so-slightly off the road, only the dim glow of a lamp at her side lighting her way, until she found the pool. It had almost an otherworldly glow emanating from the waters, most likely caused by some microbe of a creature living invisible in its depths. The perfect place to rest. No sad spirits could be heard here, only the orchestra of the night creatures, which is exactly what she listened to through her long, slender ears, as she began to doze off, leaning her back against a gnarled old tree, her long, dark hair spread around her and on the ground, framing her delicate features and moon-kissed skin. Exorcisma, afterall, were beautiful creatures, tantalizing and tempting to those not of their kind, even as they slept.
