Perry shook his head, the movement traveling down his spine in one rather large and doggish shake. The wry grin on his face was one off utter satisfaction, as he looked up at the afternoon sun. It was a hot day, but the water had felt good, and now, he'd be dry in no time. Another shake put his moppy hair at least relatively in place, close enough. Round, almost feline ears twitched and rotated to take in whatever sounds he could as the hart wondered exactly what he would do with his afternoon. Things had been boring, far, far too dull for his liking. There had to be something going on that was at least vaugely interesting. "...Hartlands are nice, but damn are they boring." The hart gave his head another shake before dipping his head, pawing at a waterlogged ear with a large hind hoof. Maybe the dip in the pond hadn't been such a good idea. The hart looked down at the water with a shrug, it really wasn't that dirty, was it? The hart gave himself a once over, giving the large patch of pond scum stuck to his side a bemused glance. Ok. So maybe it was.
Perry stretched, giving a bored yawn before smacking his lips. Somethign to eat? Nah. He wasn't really all that hungry. "There's gotta be some girls around here or somethin'..." Girls, now there was an Idea. The hartlands might have been boring, but it sure wasn't short on hotties. Immediately, the hart set off along his path with a spring to his strut that no other soaking wet, slime covered hart could ever hope to manage.

It was sweltering...and not to Ira's liking. Curls falling a bit limp, she huffed and shook her head a bit to toss them for some more life. At least they still held their sheen of beauty. While she sure wasn't at her best...it was a far cry from the other girls nearby. One had actually looked as if she had been digging. Why would anyone do that on a hot day? No. Why would any female do that period?
Limbs moving with a sluggish gait, she look about to make sure no one could her in this current state. Her prance was almost her signature. There was no way she could keep it up for the day...not in this heat. Lashes batting as she gazed here or there as if on cue...she tried not to groan at the sight of a hart making his way towards her. Though...it seemed as if she hadn't been spotted yet. And good thing too...she could smell the stench of pond on his wet and pond scummed coat from here. Thinking quickly, she made a quick dart to the left and into a small patch shrubs. Now all she had to hope for was that he hadn't seen her...or that her glorious shimmering fur wasn't visible from here.

Perry couldn't help but watch the small group of hinds as he sauntered closer, his intent aimed toward the--wait, what was that? He wouldn't have even seen the hind if she hadn't dived behind a shrub or two. A skeptical eyebrow raised as the hart paused, giving the bushes a rather perplexed look for a moment. She certainly was cute, not the hottest he'd seen, but certainly cute. And if she was diving into bushes, she might even be interesting. Perry gave a toss of his head to clear the hair from his eyes, and began his best saunter toward the offending bushes.
All in all, it was rather likely that the hart was little to look at. A long ago break in the bridge of his nose had healed lumped, but the hart moved as if he were completely unawares. He was rather well aquainted with his looks, and the looks of others. Never paid much attention to it, unless it came to a pretty girl. The hart gave a wry smile, his eyes narrowed and eyebrows raised in a questioning sort of boredom. "Hey there, pretty lady. Aint you gonna get dirty, hiding in bushes and whatnot?" The hart closed the remaining distance between them, seeming to completely forget about any other hinds who might have been near, and rather unceremoniously shoved his head through the hind's bush and clean to the other side. His head cocked to the side, that wry grin only seemed to spread. "Why's a pretty little thing like you gotta hide, anyway?"

Trying not to ruffle her wings or rustle any branches, Ira kept herself as silent as possible. Of course that was futile in the end...due to the horrendous stench wafting her way. This...of course...had to be followed by a rather ornamented head. One she could have gone without the privileged of seeing. He wasn't hideous...he just wasn't much of anything.
Starting as she saw him burst through, Ira shifted her weight and had to take a few steps back as she wrinkled her nose and prayed that his unique body odor wasn't making her curls fall. "Now I wonder...why would someone who appears to be one of cleanly means dive into bushes at the sight of...well lets say you? Any guesses? And please..." She wrinkled her nose once more, brows a bit furrowed as she turned her head away. "A few steps back...a bath maybe?"

Immediately, the hart's expression changed. Eyes narrowed, and the wry grin suddenly took on a darker tinge. Perry pulled his head from the bushes, and gave another doggish shake, sending a fresh spray of water and a few strands of pond scum flying. A snob. Well, this certainly would be fun. "Jus' took one." Completely ignoring the hind's words, Perry stepped closer, eyeing the hind with a bemused expression."And Here I'd have thought a... cute little thing like you might have some manners." He stopped just before her, his weight shifted in one direction while his head cocked to the other. Intently, he watched her expression, every reaction that went through her pretty little face. Where others might have been put off by such negative reactions, Perry only seemed amused. He had always been fascinated by how quickly some would judge, how certain details so vastly affected that ever 'important' first impression. "Hello! My name's Perry! What's yours?" The hart's expression and mannerisms had turned almost cartoonish in tandem with his overly delighted tone and sarcasm. "Now that, my darling, is what we in -polite- society call a pro-per in-tro-duct-shun." The hart leaned back for a moment, giving the hind a look through narrowed eyes. "You may want to remember that. Might learn a thing or two."

As Perry shook, small bits of sludge and pond scum launched into the air and found their way towards Ira as if she were a scum magnet. Frozen, she had to try and keep her breathing even. Perry's words almost non existent, she shook slightly. The slimy, viscous plant matter slowly began to drip down her perfect coat and soak into her curls and bows. Eyes closed, her ears fell back into her curls before she had the control to open them and glare. Now this wasn't just any glare...Ira was fairly certain that if a flower were nearby...it would die.
"I do believe that you have been misinformed as to the point and definition of a bath. Or perhaps that before you introduce yourself...you should at least not kill off the flora and fauna by burning their lungs! Or I don't know...perhaps not cover someone else in your own personal filth!?" Her voice changed from its normal smooth and seductive to almost frantic. The word filth somewhat shrill. "I use manners for those worth the effort. Why would I be polite to a male like you?" Shoving her way through the brush, Ira set out for a clean and fresh bath source.

The hart's wry smile broke into a full grin as the hind proceeded to rather thoroughly chew him out. Now the glare had been priceless, but this, this was downright amusing. However, when the hind posed her final question, his expression sobered as that wry grin returned. "A wise man once said that a man's character is best shown by how he treats those who can do nothing for him." The hart's head cocked ever slightly to the side. "And surely a pretty little hind like you wouldn't want to be so ugly on the inside." Somehow, he managed to refrain from mentioning that flora don't have lungs to burn.
The hart trotted after the hind, keeping pace beside her. He gave himself a slight sniff, even his own nose wrinkling at the smell. "I do wanna say sorry for the smell. It's a trick I picked up in the Deltas. You wouldn't believe how hot it gets down there, and I dunno if you've looked at me lately, but I aint built for extreme heat." The hart had turned into his typical, relaxed self, as if their little confrontation had never happened. Sometimes, it was impossible to tell whether the hart cared, or even realized, what effect his actions seemed to have on others. So willing to insult and instigate, and then only to turn around and act as if nothing had happened. Sometimes, it would earn him friends, if they were willing to look past the infuriating exterior. More often, however, it got his a** kicked.
"So, where we goin?" He was fairly sure that the hind would be headed to some fresh water source for a bath, and rather fancied a dip himself. The muck had been soothing, but the day was hot, and now it was too. Even a hart as unhygenic as Perry didn't fancy picking dried mud out of his fur.

Ira was flustered to the point where she wasn't sure whether to ignore the male following as he insulted her...or to continue chewing him out. Both options were equally appealing...of course so was the male falling into some random pit fall. At least then Ira could escape his stench once she bathed.
Limbs moving a if she were covered in some sort of excrement, Ira glowered as she scanned the area in order to avoid other herla in her current state. "WE what makes you think we are going anywhere? You can go somewhere...and I'll go find a nice clean spring to wash up in and forget about this whole traumatizing ordeal...and I am not ugly anywhere." Pausing to glare at him once more, she thrust her hoof down in emphasis.
"I am nothing but honest and direct in my desires..."
