User Image
Deep within the jungle, something roused from its sleep. With a great yawn, the creature arose from the deep greens it blended in to so well. It strode around, stretching tired muscles before settling down in the same spot. Today, Sarakesh felt lazy.

Nothing exciting had happened for days now, and she was literally being bored to death! No visitors, not even a snake to pass her by and say hello. Of course, insects were always around, but they didn't make good company. She swatted at a fly on her back with her tail, letting it go limp at her side as she rolled onto her back, staring up at the sky.

Perhaps if she wished hard enough, the great mother nature would send her a friend....Or enemy. She really didn't care at this point. Anything at all would be welcome....

User Image Jak had spent his night in a tree. It was not the most comfortable place to sleep but it was certainly better than some of the spots around. He could see and hear what was going on without the chance of someone barreling him over if he slept late. Not that he had seen anyone around these parts so far, but one never knew what was going to come before it got there. It was best to play it safe and prepare for things so to minimize the likelihood of an occurrence. Although the male could not say that being run into while sleeping would not be an amusing thing to have happen. It just might hurt and no jest was worth harm to another.

Jak stretched and made sure he was limbered up before he descended from the tree he had slept in. It was a bit late for him to be rising, but with nobody around to play any harmless pranks on, the mischievous winged male had slept extra out of boredom. He pouted as he looked around and saw nothing to indicate that his lack of company had been remedied. He was going to have to move on then and see if he could find others. This little vacation of his was interesting enough, but he had thought to find new ulaya's to meet out here. The disappointment was vast at this point.

Jak jumped from his tree perch onto the ground and started walking. He could fly, but where would be the fun of that? Besides, the majority of Ulaya's that were likely to be around would be on the ground, or so he thought. He kept a sharp eye out as he padded along, hoping to spot someone before they spotted him. When he did spot another, he crouched down ever so quietly and crept forward. The green female had been hard to spot in the plant life around her. Her being on her back did not help any for visibility either. As soon as he was within reach, Jak poked her tail with a gentle paw and waited to see her reaction.

She hadn't noticed his approach until her tail happened to be touched by something. Another falling leaf? No, this was warm, but still gentle. She turned her head to glance over at him, blinking curiously. A visitor!

"Oh hello." She smiled, giving him a look over. Such a bright pelt! He certainly stood out in the rather green scenery, though his wings were perfect for blending in. She wasn't at all shocked, but rather pleased by having some company, even if for a short while. She rolled onto her side, then sat up, tail swishing. "What brings you this way? We usually don't get many visitors here. Not even many non-ulaya." It indeed was an odd occurrence. At least for her part of the jungle...

Jak was hoping for some kind of shocked reaction, but to his disappointment the female did not humor him with one. Oh well, he would have to find another way to have fun. At least she seemed nice. That was always a plus when one was just meeting another. He did think she was pretty, too, but he would never say such a thing so soon after meeting the female. It would give the absolutely wrong impression if he said it. He would simply have to give it some time and learn more about this stranger for the moment. That could lead to all kinds of fun.

The male smiled softly at all the information being thrown at him at once. She was quite something, wasn't she? It was nice to attract such pleasant interest. Maybe she would like him well enough that they could talk at length. While Jak was sweet, there were many that did not like his mischievous nature. "Hello, ma'am. I am Jak, and you are?" There was a nice introduction down. Now to get to that question she had asked. "I was exploring... looking for others to meet and new things to see." The male's eyes twinkled as he spoke and his wings fluttered a bit.

"Ah, adventuring, are we?" She smiled, resting her tail at her side. The tip swished a little, just enough to keep it active. "This is a good area. Plenty of things go unseen to those just passing through. Though I'm afraid the population here is rather scarce." She replied, nodding with a small hum.

"If you want, I could show you my favorite place. It's not too far from here, and you might find it interesting. There's not much like it around here." She offered, turning to glance behind her. There seemed to be a small path, though it was far overgrown, and perhaps just fine for the two of them to get through. "Would you like to go? Or perhaps you prefer forging your own path?"

Jak's wings fluttered and he grinned at the female. "Adventuring is certainly an accurate word for exploring... I have a feeling you are one of those unseen to most wonders in the area." His eyes sparkled as he watched the female. She had a wonderful voice even if she was not much fun to sneak up on. "The population I am seeing is very beautiful, though. Perhaps the scarceness is because one area cannot handle too much of such wonder?" He could have been accused of being charming, but in truth, the male meant every word so was just being overly sweet.

The winged male kept tracing the patterns on her coat with his eyes. They were so interesting. He nearly missed what she was saying for his distraction by her patterns. "Your favorite place? I certainly would not object to being shown around... most of the point of my exploring was to meet new people." He tilted his head and put a paw out to the female. "You have yet to tell me your name, though, so I do not believe it counts as officially meeting yet."

"What a flattering statement, thank you..." She smiled, looking down at her paws shyly. "There's far more beautiful things hidden away than I though. You just haven't seen them yet." Sarakesh gave a quiet giggle. He was certainly charming, but not in the way that made her feel uncomfortable. It felt genuine, and not just for the sake of flirting.

"Oh, how rude of me. I'm terribly sorry...." She gave a slightly nervous laugh, tail starting to swish again. "I am known as Sarakesh, though Sara would be perfectly find if you find the full name difficult." She certainly was curious as to why he seemed so distracted with her. She flicked her ear, tilting her head just the slightest bit to the left. "And you are?"

Jak grinned at the female. She had the sweetest smile and the shy look at her paws was so enchanting! He stuck his nose out to touch hers. "I am Jak." She must have missed his introduction the first time, but he would not point it out. "There is no need to apologize. I simply wished a name to call you. It seemed more polite than 'hey you'." His grin turned to a small smile and his wings were brought up to a fully spread position. He was unconsciously trying to look impressive.

Consciously, though, the male was more concerned with spending time exploring with Sara. "Sarakesh is a lovely name. It is rather fitting for you, if you ask me." Not that she was likely to have, but he offered the opinion anyway. "I think one's self is a poor judge of what is more beautiful than themselves. Most tend to err in one extreme or the other rather than having a balanced opinion." Jak stood up straighter and gave his chest a little puff. "I for one believe I am simply cute. Mostly because others have said it too often to argue the point... but I believe we were going to go see this favorite spot of yours?"

Sara had forgotten, far too distracted by her sudden visitor to have remembered. "Jak. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." She bowed the slightest bit, watching him curiously. The wings were indeed most impressive to her, adding to her curiosity about what the world was like from above the treetops. Perhaps less green, but she hadn't a clue about what sort of things lay in the world beyond her forest. Of course, less green meant less safe places to stay, lest an unfriendly visitor turn up...But his comments brought her back from her thoughts once more.

"You're very kind to say such things. I can't remember any others saying them, though I haven't met many." She strode over a little closer. "I would have to agree with your self description. Indeed very cute. And very polite as well. Now....Shall we be on our way?" She walked over a few steps, glancing back at him over her shoulder. "It isn't too terribly far, but it's still a walk. Conversation will make it go faster, I believe."

Jak stretched and padded along after Sara. He was curious to see what it was she thought so beautiful. It had to be something worth seeing or she would not have offered to show it to him. He was quite certain of that. "If others have not said how pretty you are, you have not met the right others." He padded along with her and was quite proud of the fact that she had agreed that he was cute. He liked being cute. Others liked cute. Of course her thinking him polite was even more flattering. He tried to be polite, and sweet... even when he was being mischievous.

"Conversation is a good distraction from the passing of time. But only when the conversation is interesting and the company is good. I would say that we have both good company and an interesting conversation, though both are your doing." Jak reached over and batted at Sara's tail a little. He just couldn't resist it. It was too tempting to bat at that swaying tail. It was that almost kit like nature of his showing, but he found it quite entertaining to bat that tail and watch it move.

"It's kind of you to say so. Though the few I have met are usually lost and need help finding their way back to the edge of this forest. You're the first who seems to be here for actual companionship and conversation." She nodded to herself, glancing over at him. "It is most enjoyable to have you here."

"Conversation takes two, does it not? I doubt I would reply if you didn't have something witty or interesting to say in reply." She seemed a little shocked as he batted at her tail, and paused for a second, glancing back at him. However, looking at his mischievous expression made her think again, and she began walking again, swishing her tail a little bit more to make it more entertaining for him. "Enjoying that, are you?" She laughed, voice musical and bright.

Jak grinned at the compliment from the female. It was enjoyable to have him around! That was something he did not always hear! "I do like being enjoyable company... Fun is always best had with others rather than alone." He was grateful that she did not get offended at his batting of her tail. If anything she seemed to be enjoying egging him on. Might not be the usually desired reaction to a 'prank' but it certainly was a nice reaction to get.

"Conversation does indeed take two, but I would think a lovely female such as yourself would find me boring and bothersome." Jak never let up batting at the tail as he spoke. "Yes, I am enjoying this. Your tail is delightful!" He did not think about how that might sound before he said it, but did afterwards. Jak did hope that Sara would not get offended by taking his comment as her tail end was attractive. Not that her tail end wasn't attractive, but he did not want to get in trouble for her not appreciating his admiration.

"You're very wise to say that. Time always seems to pass quickly when it's spent with a friend. Especially when it's of the fun type!" She laughed, starting to swish her tail more rapidly for him to enjoy. He certainly wasn't being too rough. Sara would have stopped him otherwise. They continued to walk, though something seemed to be in the near distance...

"Bothersome? Boring? Quite the contrary!" She giggled, giving another swish of her tail. "You're amusing and quite wonderful. Not many are, for that matter! Such a delightful surprise for this day." She did seem to notice his comment about her tail, though laughed it off a little, her cheeks warming the slightest bit, though he was unlikely to see. "I'm glad to see it is amusing you, at the very least! But perhaps you should turn your attention to this!" They approached the end of the path, which opened up into a clearing. Old, mossy stones rose from the ground, warmed by beams of sunlight through the canopy's dense leaves. Butterflies danced around in the warm sunlight, the forgotten temple now a place of peace and relaxation. "Here it is...My favorite place."

Jak grinned and batted at the tail a bit more. "I do not know about me being fun. I would think it is more stick my paws in my mouth and run away before you can hurt me." He winked back at the female and debated pouncing her for fun. No, he better be good for the moment. "I am not the wonderful one in this little pairing, dear. That would be you. I am just the amusing fool you are stuck with for the moment. This tail is delightful and just further evidence of your wonderfulness." The male was going to bat at her tail again when she stopped.

Jak decided better of batting at her again, though and instead, looked where she was indicating. She had not taken his comment about her tail the wrong way and she seemed very smart. He thought it best not to push his luck when she wished his attention on something else. He looked around at the old temple and all the vegetation that had started to grow up on it. It certainly did seem peaceful and relaxing. He could see why Sara liked it here. "It is amazing, Sara... Just like you." He moved forward and sat beside her, his wings fluttering as he did so.

Sara smiled as he continued to bat at her tail, enjoying both the conversation and game they had running, though wouldn't have minded if he had continued, though she decided to keep it still for the moment. "I'm not all that wonderful, I assure you. You don't give yourself enough credit, Jak. Who says amusing fools can't be wonderful?" She waved it off with a smile, glancing over at him briefly to see his reaction to her sanctuary.

She seemed to notice his liking to the area, though was even more surprised at his comment. "Like me?" She blinked, trying to watch his face, obviously curious as to his intent. "And how am I so amazing, pray-tell?"
