Casper isn't a pony I had ever originally intended to elder. His sister, Sakura, yes. But him, no. But the longer I role-played their family, the more I realised just how far he had come too, and how much he had grown over the years.

He started as someone who didn't really care about much. He loved his siblings, but he was somewhat apathetic about the departure of his parents. He flirted around a bit, but never looked for anything more. He sired far too many children that he never even knew or would probably even have cared about. But when he found something good to hold onto, when he found that person who he thought was the special one for him, he really turned his life around. He stepped up, and he began to make the morally correct choices. He chose to fight in the Kalona invasion, even though he was under no immediate threat. He's protected his family through thick and thin. And, even when all that fell apart, and he learned that the one being who he thought was his soulmate was actually in love with and mated to someone else, he didn't fall apart and break, but he took it and decided to grow with it. Casper isn't someone who's been seeking out the elder life, but responsibilities keep on falling into his lap, and instead of shirking them or breaking down, he has always done the best he can to rise to the occasion. Kalona invasion? He fought. Kalona with a personal vendetta? He talked her down, tried to make her realise that her views were misguided. Sakura asked him to raise her children, and he did. He didn't have to, he could have said no, but someone had to and he stepped up. When his family began breaking apart after Ebony cursed herself, he stepped up. He wasn't afraid to take the fight to her, and he wasn't afraid to do what needed to be done. And I feel like he has come a very long way from where he was at the start - a bit of an apathetic, goofy stallion who didn't really care for much, to someone who will protect and die for the things he believes in and the people he loves.
