 -----Despite being protected by a twisting cage of sharply jointed branches of briar and weaving green ribbons of thorny vines from which delicately colored roses flowered, Galatea couldn't help but fret over the contents of the carefully altered thicket. As long as she had lived in this garden no predator had ever dared to step beyond the army of trees. Through the veils of drooping willow branches or draping moss that had left her in perfect solitude for so long. Yet the young mother feared that someday one might, knowing now--at least a little more than she had--of a world outside that was both wondrous and frightening. Sometimes it was difficult not to think that she might have been better off oblivious. Not just to the danger, but to everything. To the sweetness of love and the bitter ache of loss made all the more torturous when accompanied by aforementioned love.
After one last carefully fussing tug at the elements that would serve as a source of deterrent for any unwelcome strangers that might come to investigate Galatea was finally satisfied. Well. Mostly satisfied. With her mouth drawn with uncertainty the doe forced herself to leave her fawns. Milling across the soft, springy grass that grew lush and healthy thanks to the opening in the forest canopy which nourished the forgotten garden.
Perhaps she should have wisely used the time to nourish her weary and restless body, but 'Tea found herself carefully tending to her neglected family. Plucking at bruised and wilting petals. Nipping back or tugging free broken and overgrown limbs. Somehow, the deftly familiar gesture of tending the ever flourishing rose bushes pacified her uneasy heart and turbulent mind. In the time she'd spent away, brief though it may have been, the garden had already become wild and sprawling. Creeping beyond the boundaries of their birthplace as if initially in search of the precious captive, though now they seemed only to mock Galatea. Free to escape whenever they pleased and assimilate with a world she couldn't bare to face.
Do you feel so betrayed that you would leave me here alone, I wonder? Silently 'Tea considered the thought, following a particularly long limb of twisting vines which sprouted with multi-colored blossoms every few feet as it lead towards the edge of the surrounding swamp... and beyond it.

 Aimlessly as he always he the Hart trailed away from his lover Riki once more. Pretty or interesting things always caught his eye leading him away from the things he was usually doing. He was following Riki but the moment he saw a long vine he followed it. It was something new to him as it was covered in thorns and he wondered if it lead to a giant thorn-like creature on the other side. Oh-ho-ho, I bet I am getting close!" He giggled to himself trotting along the way.
Aoi sniffed at every flower that he can find on the vine. His tail wagging in excitement as he continued his way until he stopped as he spotted someone in his path. "Mmm..." His face now worried as his tail started going down between his legs. With a very light and feminine voice he called out to the hind that he spotted. "Hello there.~". From where he stood she looked beautiful, she was so shiny and colorful. All he had was blue hair, her hair was a rainbow! He was instantly jealous at the sight.

-----Galatea's intense concentration on the tongue of twisting, serpentine vines was broken abruptly by the unfamiliar voice that drifted to her ears, soft as a dream. Words she recognized as greeting thanks much in part to the numerous lessons her beloved had offered her as they traveled together. She even knew the proper way to respond, yet startled to see yet another strange face in her garden the rose maiden stared for a long moment, disbelieving.
This wasn't anything like the day she had met him and even though 'Tea wasn't so naive as to believe they were the only two of their kind in the world, finding yet another stranger within her garden left with mixed emotions. It was nice to see another face after so long a confinement, yet the magic of meeting her brusque warrior seemed to diminish some, silly as that was. He would always be a special memory in her heart--granted she tried not to think in terms that might suggest he was gone forever, he was coming back for her someday and would be delighted to see their beautiful fawns--but if just anyone was capable of finding her then it was she who was the unremarkable one.
Even the unique beauty of this herla made her feel overshadowed and plain. Galatea had never been a vain creature, but having never seen another with features as flawless as her own she had to believe she was at least somewhat extraordinary in appearance. A touch of envy causing her gaze to linger far too long on the voluptuous tail that moved with a billowing grace. Maybe she was lovely in her own way, but this unfamiliar guest was magnificent in an understated way.
Speaking didn't come naturally to Galatea. For so long she'd had no reason to utter a word and even though she seemed capable of communicating her thoughts clearly through her expressive face and body language her hart had been doggedly determined she learn. "In mine garden.."
Grimacing inwardly at the ugliness of her own speech the doe fidgeted self-consciously and struggled to remain stalwart. Reluctant to try again though she forced the brittle whisper of her voice to cooperate with eyes that--though too stubborn to bow in embarrassment--avoided meeting the other directly, "You are being lost?"

Getting closer now not knowing very well to keep to his own personal bubble, let alone reading any body language he went right up to her and smiled widely. He was not much of a shy person all the time and if he liked what he saw and found no threat in it he wanted to befriend it. His little hooves tapping as he placed himself near enough to see all her gorgeous colors more clearly. "Oh wow!" He chimed loudly. "This is your garden?" He eyed all the vines and buds of flowers around the area. "It's very beautiful! Are you part of the garden as well?" He ask curiously as his tail wagged excitedly.
He blinked for a moment and now realized he was far, far away from where he should have been which was trailing behind his loved one. "Uh..." He cocked his head slightly. Was he lost? He wasn't paying much attention to know his way back but that wasn't too much on his mind though as it trailed off looking at one of the Hind's flowers. "No, are you?" He asked giggling.

-----Perhaps Galatea would have been offended if she knew this stranger didn't find her threatening, being the only one that stood in the way of potential threats to her offspring. The lilting purr of delight in her voice and innocent posture eased what tension remained in 'Tea's stance. Naive to the concept of deception the hind was satisfied with the thought that if there didn't appear to be danger, than it was safe to believe there was none. And really, anyone who could appreciate the beauty of her garden, especially someone who themselves was such a vision that she could easily overshadow everything around her, couldn't possibly be bad, right?
Unable to help but follow the motions of that fascinating tail Galatea blinked herself out of her current daze to nod. Lifting her head to gaze at the rainbow of colors that blossomed all around them. Yes, this was her garden and had been for as far back as she could remember. Normally Galatea would have been endlessly proud of such compliments, but today there was a hesitation in her proud smile. Forming instead, not with eager exuberance, but with a slow sobriety, "Yes, Galatea knows only here. Mine garden is.. is.."
Pausing for a moment in thought sleek ears quivered with her concentration before 'Tea managed to find the word she'd been searching her mind for. Chirping with the small conquest, "..family!"
Was that strange? Claiming a rose garden as one's family? If the doe thought so she didn't express it. Trying to decide if she was more startled by the stranger's lyrical laughter or the question. Galatea lost? In her own garden. That was laughable. So much so that she did begin to laugh, gingerly, as though she hadn't felt such amusement in a long time and her body threatened to break with the force of it now. "N-no.. not lost, just walking. Are you too?"

"Oh!" Aoi chimed in excitement. "Family you say? Well, that is amazing! Do they live here with you among the flowers?" He looked around happily. "Because, if this garden is indeed your family it's such a pretty and wonderful place to live. I do admire it a whole lot. It smells nice and I bet the leaves and flowers can get really calming when you're all alone because flowers attract critters and critters can be friends!" His front hooves seemed to dance in place as he showed off his excitement bodily even though he was not fully aware of it.
His hooves stopped as he cocked his head for a minute and his ear flattened down a bit concerned. "Well, now that you mention it..." His ears perked up again and he nodded. "Yes! Yes, I am walking. I was coming around to see what I can find today, since the day was so bright and cheery. I love the sun, it's so warm. Must be nice for your pretty rainbow flowers on your body!" Interested he poked one with his nose not knowing how to keep in how own personal bubble. "Do they close up at night?"
