    Full Name: Janus Zwaar

    Alias/Title: none yet

    Nickname: Jan

    Gender: Male

    Date of Birth: January 8th

    Actual Age: 289

    Appearance Age: 34

User Image
    Height: Six foot five

    Weight: 168 lb.

    Eye Color: Blue

    Hair Color: Teal

    Nationality: Dutch

    Reiatsu Color: Teal

User Image
Occupation: Captain of the Gobantai (Fifth Division)

    Affiliation: Gotei 13

    Former Occupation: Artist

    Former Affiliation: N/A

    Hobbies: Sculpting, Painting

Likes: The Arts, Music, Lazy Conversation

Dislikes: Loud Noises, Hot-Headed Youths, Foods with Strong Tastes. For various reasons he will never discuss, he hates crabs. The merest sight of a crab can make him violently ill.

Personality: Laid back. He thinks and he ponders. When he acts, he does so at his own pace. He's never been one to get sucked into other's methods of doing things. Incredibly absent-minded, he forgets and messes up details constantly. Has never once gotten a name right on the first try. He will absent-mindedly doodle on anything or anyone in reach.

    Sexual Preference: Homosexual

    Family: Nobody he remembers...

Background: Janus was once an artist who, while dedicated, couldn't make a living and starved to death in poverty. After death, he was found to have a fair amount of spiritual strength, capable of becoming a shinigami. After learning that a shinigami may eventually retire to a life of leisure, he agreed to enter the academy so that he may one day return to his true passion. His instructors found that he was equal parts insufferably thick headed and meticulously proficient. He seemed to take everything in a very slow sort of methodical fashion that allowed him to learn shinigami arts without making many mistakes. His prospects were still dim as he had no interest in military arts or the acquisition of strength until he achieved his shikai.

The knowledge that this blade of his could become a tool of creation, and a medium for artistic expression invigorated him. He practiced his forms constantly, and sparred often. He became known for his passive form that prioritized defense while allowing for unusual attacks. His combat skills soon became on par with that of a lieutenant, and only his utter ambivalence toward the progression of his rank stopped him from becoming one himself. It was only after achieving bankai that his fellows began pressuring him to take on a position of higher authority, and eventually he agreed to apply for a promotion, if only to humor them. After being tested in his proficiency by the Captain Commander, he was formally appointed to the position of Captain in the Gobantai.

As a Captain, he is neither exceptional nor incompetent. He's average, unexceptional, and somewhat boring. He does his paperwork with slow efficiency, he trains his squad competently (his squad often jokes that if his lessons didn't require physical activity, they wouldn't need sleeping hours), and he performs all tasks and duties required of him to an acceptable degree. His only real eccentricities are in what he spends his free time doing. He embarks on large scale wall murals, arranges rock gardens, builds statues, and generally does a great deal to improve the aesthetics of everything he touches... which is often why his fellows are less irritated when he forgets to ask them before redecorating their compounds. Not to say that he hasn't raised some ire, but he never makes excuses about it. Rather, he sees it as people shouldn't hide what they love to do, even if they make a mistake doing it.

    Zanpakutō Name: Aardefee

Zanpakutō Type: Transmutation / limited lesser elemental ability

Sealed Zanpakutō: A katana with twice the handle and three times the blade length, carried in a shoulder sheathe. In short, a Zanbato (Horse Decapitating Katana)

Zanpakutō Spirit: A fairy-like girl about six inches tall; hawk wings, moth antennae, bird claw feet, yellow eyes User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

User Image
    Shikai Incantation: Create, Aardefee

Release Appearance: A six foot stone staff with brass ends

Description: Aardefee is a zanpakuto that alters and somewhat controls the inanimate by using weak forms of elemental manipulation. It's a zanpakuto that is only as strong as the materials available. All abilities save Reshape share a 1 post cooldown; meaning that once Kiln is used, Spread cannot be used till the post after next.

    Abilities:

    1) Reshape - Up to one cubic meter of inorganic solid material can be affixed to the staff and manipulated freely. Inorganic solids are defined as anything that is, or was once part of, a living thing. Exceptions are made in that processed organic materials do not count as organic for the purpose of the ability, and zanpakuto/other forms of ensouled objects count as organic. Examples: A tree or a piece of leather could not be manipulated, but a piece of paper or rubber band could. (Sustained effect) (Effect cannot be cancelled or re-applied until it has been in use for one post) (Once released, the effect cannot be re-applied until the following post)

    2) Kiln - Heat or rust an inorganic material in contact with the staff. Said heating/rusting only persists as long as contact, but functions as fast as Janus wills it. (Shared cooldown)

    3) Harden - Solidify or petrify an inorganic material in contact with the staff. Examples: turning wet mud dry, or turning sap into amber. (Shared cooldown)

    4) Knead - Soften an inorganic material in contact with the staff or make it more malleable. (Shared cooldown)

    5) Spread - Reduce the density of an inorganic material via volume expansion. Mass is not affected. (Shared cooldown)

User Image
    Bankai Name: Aardefee Terugkeer

Bankai Incantation: Let us return to the basics, Aardefee Terugkeer

Release Appearance: No change, a sculptor's tools don't need to be flashy

Description: Same as before, but with much greater freedom in manipulation

    Abilities:

    1) Freesculpt - The mass limit of Reshape is improved to one hundred cubic meters (passive effect)

    2) Transmute - The physical characteristics of inorganic materials affected by Freesculpt can be freely modified. Physical characteristics are defined as volume, state of matter, and sensory application (what it looks like, smells like, tastes like, etc.) (Three post cooldown between each change)

    3) Unmake - Return inorganic material in contact with the staff to the material's base components. (Seven post cooldown) (Hefty cost to stamina)

User Image
Hadō: Proficient, but not a specialist. He occasionally dabbles in kido creation, but has yet to create anything significant

Bakudō: Proficient, but not a specialist

Other: Grandmaster level proficiency in staff combat and hand to hand techniques. Merely proficient with other weapon styles.

Battle Theme: Van Helsing Boom Box

Starting from the top, I'm going to ask you extend your Biography some. On top of that, for Family and Date of Birth, you need solid answers there. While None is acceptable for Family, you still need a month and date for your Date of Birth.

All of your abilities, Shikai and Bankai, require a cool down time, in posts. Additionally, I'd like just a bit more detail in your zanpakuto's abilities as they are extremely open ended (Namely, what they can and can't affect, limitations, duration of effects and so on)

Once that's all done, simply quote me again for your next review.

You're still missing cool down times for all of your abilities. Additionally, just understand that neither of your reshape or your disassemble abilities will work on a zanpakuto (other than your own). I'd actually prefer if you'd add that in as well. Otherwise these abilities could be rather overpowered, as it would be akin to stealing someone else's zanpakuto.

Fair enough. While turning somebody's beloved katana into a silly-string codpiece would be hi-larious, it'd be unfair too.

With this latest update, I included all limitations you asked for, please note that most of the shikai abilities share a cooldown as noted in the shikai description.

Well everything seems fair enough. Just one last edit and I think you'll be good to go. To simply prevent rapid element changing and so on with Reshape and Freesculpt, I just ask you put a one post cool down on both of them, that way you can't just absorb a whole bunch of things into the staff and are indeed penalized for using it too early while still being able to use it every other post of yours if you wanted.

Erm, do you mean a one post wind up to start, or a longer cooldown between uses?

No I mean that, if you were to use Reshape/Free Sculpt on one post, you couldn't use it on your next post, whether you wanted to remove the affected object or attach another one.

Ah, a minimum use length. Gotcha, added it. Also added a battle theme, it seemed appropriate.
