Knockout walked through downtown Phonyland, the weather a bit cold and somewhat foggy. The pegasus had spent the morning chasing after a pick-pocket, and even though he'd turned the loser in for the reward money, the red phony wasn't in much of a good mood at the moment. While generally he enjoyed his job as vigilante today's efforts of beating other phony up weren't making him feel any better. The lost feeling he was having reminded him of when he was a foal, struggling to find his purpose in life. It made him wonder if he was the only one out there who felt different, and like no matter what they tried to do they just didn't fit in.
Knockout was actually aware of his pretty bad temper problem, but he couldn't help himself whenever he got angry. He wasn't much of a good socializer either, and he could barely bring himself to talk to his family (the ones he actually cared to acknowledge as his relatives, anyway). Without even a single other phony that he could really, genuinely, call a friend he was starting to admit to himself that was actually getting lonely. Why did his life have to suck this badly? With an annoyed groan he continued walking, nearly bumping into someone when they exited a shop.
"Hey! Watch where you're going." He grumbled at the stranger, his poor mood rather obvious by the tone of his voice. He was about to brush past the other pegasus when he actually noticed that, woah, this guy had two differently colored eyes. Knockout frowned then, staring awkwardly at other phony. He'd never seen anyone who looked like that before and it had actually caught him off guard.Ryuthulhu Sorry I wrote a novel! Feel free to write considerably less than I did! Q uQ;;

"O-oh! S-sorry!" Wicked Stitch tucked his wings in tightly and ducked his head sheepishly. "I wasn't w-watching where I was going I guess." He felt bad for it, but he had been pretty caught up in thinking about his next invention. Something to make hot cocoa without the fuss... something he could run out doors so that it could be used in a snowball fight for truces... Maybe with a target so that you could throw snowballs at it to make a cup? But that was getting caught back up on the invention again and not apologizing properly. The fact he was being stared at was also not lost on him, and he ducked his head further in embarrassment. Was he upsetting looking? He'd mostly gotten used to being a bit piecemeal looking with his adopted family, sometimes he forgot the way he might come across to a more normally constructed phony. "S-sorry!" He apologized again. "I didn't mean to upset you, or s-startle you..."

He snorted a little at the apology, not really pacified by it but he didn't particularly care either way whose 'fault' the collision might have been. He glanced up at the shop's sign for a moment, wondering what a mis-matched phony was doing in this part of town, but he couldn't get the answer to that from just guessing. It was also a little confusing now that the guy was apologizing for potentially startling him, which made the blond shake his head in disagreement. "You didn't startle me, you're just... interesting to look at. Do your wings actually work?" Wow, what a stupid way to say it, but he'd meant what he said. He wouldn't call Wicked Stitch ugly by any means, no. As odd as the other pegasus was, he actually seemed well put-together.
He wasn't sure why, but seeing that he'd made Wicked Stitch a bit uncomfortable made him sigh, and actually commit a rare feat and apologize. "...I'm not trying to be an a** to you, I'm just having a bad day." Well, that was as close to an 'I'm sorry' as he'd gotten in a very long time. He wasn't trying to come across as nosy either, Knockout was just blunt about a lot of things, and especially when he was curious about something he didn't know.

"M-my wings?" Wicked blinked, stretching them out reflexively as he was asked the question. "Um...y-yes? Th-they always have. I h-haven't played w-with the stiches... s-sorry." He paused and then just because that sounded ruder than he had meant. "I- I've been asked t-that b-before. I'm sorry you're not having a v-very good day though. I-I mean you w-weren't an a**!" He added hastily. "I-I know I look strange. I-it's n-normal to be curious."

Knockout watched the stitched wings flap, seeing them move just as smoothly as he would his own. Huh, that really was interesting. When the phony kept apologizing he just took it that the guy must have some insecurities, but didn't comment on that any farther. "You don't seem afraid of coming here to town, like you were just doing your normal thing before I came into the picture." Sounds almost thoughtful as he spoke, but the pegasus continued regardless.
"I guess your parents must've made sure you felt fine going out and being around everyone else... but I guess you're not the only one around here that sticks out." He flapped his own wings once for emphasis, because he was a bright red phony after all. Knockout didn't know his mother so he'd never met another red phony as bright as he was either.
