Tac found his daughter waiting for him, shifting on her paws, he eyed her curiously, it was clear she had something on her mind, something that was making her nervous.
He hadn't been blind to the changes in his daughter, the same changes that had come about her mother, but he had hoped the case was different. But now that he saw her like this, he feared that the case was the same. "Rire?"
She jumped out of her skin, as she turned and stared into the masked eyes of her father, oh by the gods did she really have to tell him? She swallowed hard and smiled sweetly. "Oh hi Daddy.." She said with a cheerful smile, even though her heart was racing a mile a minute in her chest.
"Yes, hello Rire.." His tone was calm, his eyes carefully trained on her as she used that sweet smile on him, softening him to the blow he could feel coming. "What can I do for you little one?"
"Oh well..I had some news I wanted to share with you." She pranced lightly on her paws as she danced around him now, she couldnt sit still and tell him that way, oh no she felt the terror of butterflies within her, or well it could have simply been the movement of her little ones, she wasn't sure.
"Oh? What kind of news?" He asked with a tilt of his head, he sat while she moved, he felt as if the earth was swaying under his paws. Could his suspensions be right? He watched his daughter with a careful eye, her rounding belly only seemed to cause a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach and make the blood in his veins turn cold.
"Well...good news really." She beamed a smile at him, as she took a deep breath. "I know your not going to be happy, but please Daddy don't be mad." She pleaded with all her heart, she couldnt bare it if she had disappointed him, that would destroy her world.
"Rire...What is it? Why would I be mad?" His words grew thin, he could feel her getting ready to hit him with it, and he dreaded the seconds between then and now, he loved his daughter and wanted more for her than to be someones waddling baby maker. He and whomever had gotten his daughter like this would have to have a nice, and violent little sit down.
"Daddy..I'm..pregnant." She blurted out, she didnt have any other words to try and sugar coat it.
"Rire." His tones were dark as his eyes clouded, it had hit him like a blade into the heart. "What were you thinking? And the father, where is he? Why didnt he join you in this little announcement?"
"Well I dont know, he sorta split out one morning.." She knew that this was not helping her case at all, she could feel his gaze sharpen on her as she shifted now. "And I dont know Daddy, I wasn't thinking I guess...I never expected this to happen. But you know what Daddy, I am so very happy it did happen." She said in a stubborn tone, her chin tilted.
"WHAT?!" Tac snapped, he was on his paws now. "Some douche loves and leaves and you end up pregnant and your happy?! RIRE." He snapped, he all but snarled as he could feel rage fill him. She deserved better than that, she deserved a better life than the sort he lead.
And her heart broke, "Dad...please. Don't be mad, this is wonderful and I can handle this. You did it, I can do it too..Even Aunt Ami did it and she helped another raise his kits." She pleaded, she needed his love and support though she had known his temper was an emotion he was much more comfortable with. Well that and lust and that was just...ew..no...ewwww.
"I did it because I had to Rire, there wasnt a choice in it. I didnt go out looking for it to happen." He said with a huff, "You deserve a better life than what I have." He shook his head as he sat down once more, he rubbed his paws over his face and mask. "Rire...baby girl you.." His words fell empty against the earth as he looked at his daughter. "I'm here for you little flower..you know this. But..this..this cannot ever happen again." He said in a warning tone.
She sighed as she wrapped her paws around her father and nosed his cheek. "No Daddy, it wont..but I'll love this babies like no one else." She said softly as she smiled at him. "Thank you daddy..for everything."
Tac sighed, he knew he had been beat. But he knew that he couldnt fathom not having Rire in his life, and she was just stubborn enough to walk out if he had botched this up any worse than he knew he had. "You'll be a wonderful mother Rire.." He said accepting defeat.
"Thank you Daddy.." She kissed his cheek and found herself exhausted, and much like she had as a kit, she curled up at her fathers paws, using the giant silky furred paws as pillows as she closed her eyes with soft yawn. "I'm just gonna take a little nap.." She said in sleepy tones.
Tac stared down at his daughter, his pregnant, alone daughter and knew that even though he had sworn his life to protect her years ago when she was nothing but a box, he knew that he would do whatever it took to protect her kits as well. "Sssh, get some rest.." He said softly, and let her sleep just as she had done what seemed not to long ago.
