Elawin poked her nose out from under the bush she had tucked herself into. Her ears flicked back and forth as she listened to the sounds of the forest before gently scooting out. She stood there for a moment her body tense as she listened for any sounds of danger. Once she was sure things were alright she moved away from her hiding point and out into the more open area.
She was out looking for some berries, she had recently found a squirrel that was injured and was working with it in the hopes of healing it. Her twin, Pharolin had made a friend recently and though he was always close by he was spending increasing amounts of time in her company. It wasn’t that Ela minded, not at all, she was happy to see him finding friends. She liked seeing him happy, she had noticed that as of late he had been rather distant. As if he was questioning himself, or perhaps something was wrong. Yet no matter how hard Ela tried to soothe him it did not seem to ease his troubled mind.
Elawin laid her ears back and sighed. She worried that she caused him trouble, and it bothered her deeply. She knew that often times he found her bothersome, she jumped at every little noise. She worried about every little thing and half the time he was protecting her from those that would do her harm.
She shook her head to dispel the thoughts as she poked her nose through the underbrush trying once more to focus on her task. It was then that she spotted some bright red berries that looked promising. Though she honestly hadn’t any real idea what berries it was squirrels ate.
