This is a 1x1 between Jewel of Antares and Myself. Our characters Jareth and Jethro are the ONLY ones that are allowed to be posted here.

 Jethro paced the throne room looking into one of the crystals that was in his hand. He was getting good at manipulating the spheres as his father could, but he wasn't as skilled yet. As the prince walked around the room a few goblins watched him for a moment before a ball nearly fell out of his hand and the creatures started to snicker. "Quiet! Get out!" He growled at them which made the creatures scurry every direction. Alone at last Jethro sat for a moment and thought about what he should do. It wasn't like he really had any role in the kingdom at the moment. Yes he was the only son of Jareth, King of the Goblins, but it wasn't like his father was going to hand the crown over any time soon. Not only that, but did Jethro really want to rule a bunch of goblins? It was no wonder that the king often got cranky and would look to the human world. Glancing into one of the crystals that still remained in his hand, Jethro looked to the human world. Would he be better in such a place? Would he even belong in such a world of humans? He was a fae, so he could pass as human sure, but he wouldn't be able to use his magic any longer. He would have it, but humans didn't posses power which was a bit of a pain if he did leave the labyrinth.

  Nowadays, more often than naught, Jareth was usually always bored. He'd found a companion temporarily in Jethro's mother, but she left not long after his birth. The palace lost its appeal to her. It left him only slightly heartbroken and with a son to raise on his own. Which he did, flawlessly if he could say so himself. His son was a handsome young man, though a bit broody. He had the habit of turning Jareth away when he attempted to bond more as well. But, even so, Jethro was Jareth's pride and joy. Which was why, as odd as it was, he tended to flirt and tease the young prince from time to time and didn't like the thought of losing him to anything or anyone.
Today, he sat on his throne and watched as Jethro played with the crystal balls, trying to master them as Jareth had. He was so cute when he tried to surpass Jareth's abilities. One day, he would, and that was when Jareth would hand the throne to him. Until then, he was but a babe still. Hearing the goblins laugh at Jethro's sudden clumsiness, the blonde frowned, tempted to roast them on a spit and fed them to the fairies. Of course, Jethro lashed out immediately and took a seat as the goblins scurried to leave. After a few minutes, Jareth noticed the younger Fae staring thoughtfully into the ball. Getting up, Jareth went over and knelt behind him, resting his chin on his head. "You're looking into the human realm longingly, Jethro. Are you lonely? Hoping to find someone who'll catch your eye?"

Jethro didn't notice his father was there for a moment until he felt the man behind him and his chin was now on his head. Letting out a sigh he pushed his father away. "Do you always have to do that?" He asked looking away from the ball in his hand. "To answer your question, no. I don't care for anyone you know this, I just don't see why Im still here. Its not like you plan on handing over the throne, and I don't think that I even want it." No, Jethro didn't really have anything but practicing his skills in the castle and harassing the goblins. Occasionally he would ignore the flirting from his father, but he didn't think anything of it. "There is no point getting jealous or worried that someone would catch my eye father. I don't believe in that love nonsense. You should stop trying to find it yourself, it clearly doesn't lead anywhere."

Jareth sighed. Jethro used to such an affectionate boy. It saddened the Fae he was so different now. "Once you surpass my power, the throne is yours." Jethro mentioned how love had never led anywhere, which caused Jareth to smirk. Walking up to him, he wrapped his arms around him. "That's not true. The love I had for your mother led to my pride and joy. I wish he would be more happy to have me around as I am with him. Any suggestions?"

 Jethro looked at his father for a moment before he turned away. "Surpass you in power? I don't that's going to happen for a long time, after all you have been in charge of this place for so long." Was there really any point in his even trying? It seemed like his father was miserable ruling over dim witted goblins all the time. "Love? Look were that got you. She left and didn't care about her child. Why would I believe that love actually exists after that?" Sure he had seen some things in the crystal ball that looked like humans loved each other, but being a fae, he would live longer then anyone here, besides his own father or other fae. Long lives often meant that feelings would change, and he just didn't want to be hurt, that was why he didn't let anyone get close to him, not even his father. After all, if he opened up to the man what would happen? Jareth would probably go after some other woman again and he would be left alone. He didn't want that to happen so he tried to keep a wall up, keep others from getting close so he wouldn't be hurt.

Jareth pouted. All his confessions were shot down, even when they were traditional confessions fathers had for their children. He could understand his flirts and teasing, but why did he refuse to accept his fatherly pride? Honestly, Jethro was such a pessimist. "Whether or not your mother loved us doesn't change that I have loved and cared for you since day one. And, I will continue to love you for the rest of your life. You're my son, and I've never been happier to have anyone else around. Even if you're a depressing brood." Well, that wasn't him at all. Some of the goblins that stayed behind after Jethro's previous tantrum laughed at him, and Jareth frowned. "Didn't your prince tell you to leave? Vile, hideous things."

Jethro didn't enjoy upsetting his father, it was just... Well he didn't understand why the man tried to get him to love. Jethro gave a half smile to his father. "I know, I don't intend to be a depressing brood. It's just difficult to be happy here, it's always so gloomy surrounded by goblins. Those that are like us fear us for who we are. I know that I won't have anything else to do here for a very long time." Jareth scolded the goblins that remained and Jethro glared at them. With a flick of his wrist the floor beneath the creatures vanished and the ended up in one of the forests. "That will give them time to think about disobeying." Now that they were truly alone, Jethro turned to his father. "I know there are strong feelings others have, but I can't risk letting anyone close. I know what happened with that human girl, and the fact my mother left, well it just shows nothing is forever. Not even you being around."

Jareth gave a frown before reaching out and resting a hand on Jethro's hair, smiling a bit as he did. "Yes. I will be gone one day. That's a reality all fathers must accept. They say they'll live forever and they'll never leave, but I will not lie to you like that. But, Jethro....Must you turn me away for something that's not avoidable? Surely you don't want me to disappear without ever accepting the love fathers and sons share." Jareth certainly didn't.

Jethro looked at his father as the man placed a hand on his head. "How can I be certain that you wont end up running off the moment someone catches your eye? Its always been easier to just keep everyone away so it doesn't hurt when they do leave." Jethro did care for his father, but he didn't think it was wise to have stronger feelings, nor could he admit them if he did. At least not openly admit them. "What happens when Im ready to take the throne from you? Your just going to leave. As much as I want to be more then the heir, I don't want to be alone, to lose the one person that has been here my entire life."

Jareth raised an eyebrow before laughing. Jethro was such a cutie when his guard was weakened. "How do you know my desperate search for love isn't to distract me from your detachment?" He'd leave once Jethro was king? Where had he gotten such a ridiculous idea? Jareth would miss tormenting the goblins too much. "Only if you exiled me. Of course, I may not listen. We Fae are tricky, mischevious beings who don't always follow orders." Honestly, his son had the most unfounded worries.

"I suppose that I don't. But, I have always felt that it would be simpler to keep to myself... I don't want to be hurt. As for exhiling you, I would never do such a thing, I will always need you around." Yes he was aware that Fae were tricky creatures, after all he was one.

Would always need him. That was surprisingly tender. "Oh, Jethro~! I'm very happy to hear that from you~!" Jareth hugged Jethro, kissing his cheek happily. "So, what should we do?"

Jethro tensed slightly as he was hugged and kissed by his father but he didn't pull away. "Tender? Its being honest. Your the only one that's ruled this kingdom since its creation. You know the creatures, their habits their fears. How can I ever compete with that? You even have women throwing themselves at you. The only one ive had come after me was James, and I have a feeling he did it only to make you happy." He said after a moment before looking away. "What should we do? Well I know you like to terrorize the citizens. Or throw balls when young girls come to take back little brothers." He said with a smirk having heard the story about Sarah once before.
