xxxCheon watched curiously as the detective held the flask to Kelli’s side and began to chant in a dead language that Cheon recognized to be Latin. The magical residue from their assailant’s attack slowly drained into the bottle in the form of a black mist – something that Oana had also kept vials of, for whatever reason. Monitoring Kelli’s expression, she could sense his discomfort with the extraction process, but there was little she could do to relieve him of it. ”I’m sure you’ve been through a lot worse than that, Kelli… liven up a little, it’s not gonna kill you.” Cheon teased with a playful smirk on her face. Giving Kelli’s arm a reassuring squeeze, Cheon turned her attention on Atreyu. ”He attacked me by magic. You can extract it out of me too.”
Waiting calmly for the process to be over, Cheon continued to muse on the idea of the Cult of Cold Flames. For the longest time, Cheon never believed her teacher’s words. There was no way she was the Legacy of Zatanna. The whole key thing must have been a hoax or some clever prank. How could she, of all the Homo magi in the world, have been singled out to carry such a mantle? After all, in the years following Zatanna’s disappearance, there had been many accounts of people claiming to be her legacy, and each of those magicians were likely even more qualified to carry such a title than Cheon. But with what Atreyu was saying about the key, and with this supposed cult running about… could it all have been true?
”What do you mean when you say your inheritance…?” Cheon asked, brows furrowed in a look of deep confusion. ”And you say you had a feeling the key was with me… how? Who exactly are you?” It was clear the man they sought out was more than just a simple detective. With his office that was heavily protected with spells and safeguards, to the talk of the House of Mystery which Cheon had only briefly heard about in her years spent training in magic, to the idea that he himself had been invited to join the Cult, even. But no matter who he was or what he had done in his past, Oana seemed to trust in him enough to put him in her book of resources… and that alone was enough for Cheon to place her trust in him.

 Atreyu Ceallaigh
Having finished his work on Kelli, and being affirmed that Cheon has also been attacked by the magic. He stepped over to her and without asking or preamble lifted up her shirt and placing the beaker on her stomach chanting the same words as before. He couldn't help but let out a small laugh at there many questions about who he was, the importance of the key, and the Cult of Cold Flame.
He gave a wink and blew a kiss at Cheon as he stepped away the beak now 3 quarters of the way full. "Love I am the Hellblazer and current owner of the House of Mystery after inheriting the knowledge, power and wonderful charm of John Constantine. Though to be honest from what I know I find myself to be the better charmer." He said with a smile. as he turned and walked back to his desk sitting down he pulled out his phone and opened Google maps on Coast City before placing the the beaker next to it. He then turned to look back up to both of them.
"The answer to the other questions comes with the knowledge I have gained from that inherited knowledge. I own the House of Mystery but the Zatara's have there own family home of magical power where Zatara Zatara and later Zatanna Zatara would hang there top hat as it were. Hence the Key and it's importance. You just don't walk into a magicians home and start digging around. You thought that slap you felt earlier was something. Imagine if you tried to attack me here or I wanted to get rid of you, the power I could reap upon you both would end you easily. That is what that key was to you Cheon. Hence my annoyance of you losing it and even worse never looking into it. The Backwards magic you inherited was just a taste, of the legacy gifted to you and you squandered that. There are few sins greater than that." He spoke not with malice or blame, but more with an open truth of the situation she let herself fall into.
"As for the Cult of Cold Flame and why they would want the key well. Think of the key as a passcode. The owner of it can not just get into the house but can claim ownership of the magic within. So if I was an evil cult looking to gain one of the most powerful sorcerers magical powers. Yet couldn't do so by force then why not just steal the one thing that just gives it to me." Having explained the situation he then turned to Kelli. "Also if you would like it stored here. I would be fine with taking it. I have a few other Atlantean relics around here somewhere. Nothing as powerful as your trident but still useful none the less. While I will be honest I not inclined to just give them away. As part of the purpose of this place is to hold items until the person destined and chosen by them has been found to receive them. If later when we are not in such a rush you would like to see them. I would be willing to let you see them."

With: Cheon & Atreyu Location: Atreyu’s Office OOC: Sorry for the wait and Merry Christmas! Hearing Cheon tease him in jest, Kelli reactively stuck his tongue out at her and scrunched his nose like he used to as a child. ”I thought you were on my side?” he joked while smirking stupidly at the girl. ”Careful. It tingles,” the Atlantean laughed aloud as he distanced himself from the two to examine Atreyu's collections.
Kelli’s smile faded with the explanation of the key coming upon them. He could understand why Atreyu was so frustrated about the lost item but at the same time was equally confused about how no one bothered to explain it to Cheon. ”Predicament indeed,” Kelli sighed, still eyeing artifacts around the room. His fingers traced the glass of one in front of him as he hummed lowly to himself. ”So the key is tied to the legacy of Zatanna,” the King announced in deduction. ”Not only an object that allows access to the House, but also a symbol of power in its own right.” Kelli turned to face the young sorceress in the room. He eyed her intently, trying to understand how fate brought her into such a dilemma.
”Looks like someone was intending for you to carry on that mantle,” the blonde declared, the corners of his lips cracking upwards again. ”Look at you being all important,” he teased, elbowing her in the arm after backtracking his way over again. Kelli tilted his head to the side as he observe Atreyu combining magic with technology. While some would find the combination contrasting, Kelli knew from experience that it often wasn’t. A lot of Atlantean technology operated in the same manner, with the compliment of both magic and science.
”I appreciate the offer, Detective. Maybe it’ll go in the will someday,” Kelli nodded at him.

Taken aback when the man had, without any warning whatsoever, lifted her shirt up, Cheon tensed her entire body, shooting daggers with her glare at the detective. It took most of her willpower not to slap the man’s hand away. But when the cold rim of the beaker was pressed against her stomach and the magical essence was slowly extracted from her persons, Cheon sighed, relaxing a little. The man was a little rough around the edges, but something told her he would become an invaluable resource in the years to come.
Little by little, everything started making sense – Oana wasn’t wrong after all… and much like how Kelli had been fated to carry on the legacy of Aquaman, and Atreyu the legacy of Constantine, Cheon was chosen by the fates to uphold the legacy of Zatanna. A responsibility that, given the recent turn of events, she realized that she was vastly unprepared for. Gripping the arms of her chair, Cheon took a moment to think it all over. The key, a key to a house full of powerful magic and magical artifacts… akin to nuclear codes falling into the wrong hands, the fact that Cheon had lost the key to some cult meant impending devastation. Swallowing hard, Cheon turned to Kelli. ”Well s**t… looks like we need to get that key back then, Kelli. No holding back this time.” Though her tone was more jovial in nature, there was an underlying seriousness to it that indicated the girl was ready for business. The man that stole her purse was in for a world of hurt.
Turning back to Atreyu, her attention bounced between the vial and the map that he’d pulled out on his phone. ”Supposing he really is a member of the Cult… is there anything we’d need to know then, in terms of how we kick his a**?” It was clear that the thief had extensive training in magical combat, but Cheon wasn’t going to make the same mistake twice. ”And how long is it going to take to track him down?”

 Atreyu Ceallaigh
Atreyu nodded, as both of them finally seemed to understand exactly what was at stake at the moment. "Glad you both finally get the problem and my frustration. We need to deal with this threat quickly. My spell is almost complete. At which time I will have the house drop us off directly into whatever room our dear target is in. I warn you both however, he will have a few seconds to know we are coming. So if you don't mind your highness I would like you to step out first me and Cheon will follow after and aide you where we can."
His words carried a more assertive tone than a requesting one. However the arrogant belligerent was gone, and a man who knew his job stood before them. Having said what he needed to say. He returned his attention to the final parts of the spell. Taking the vial he dumped it on the phone with Google Maps open. The magical essence began to swirl around the phone blanketing it for a moment before being sucked up into it. Then the phone began to fritz and in the address bar typed out the address of the cultist. It took only a moment before the address was out and his phone showed the location. "There we go. Now let us go teach a lesson to a very naughty boy." He said with a smirk his english accent beginning to harden as he became more excited.
Atreyu left his desk and extended a hand, as a spear began to form. Taking it in a loose grip he approached the door they had come in from before knocking on it and muttering something. "There we go. Whenever your ready your highness. Open it up and you will be in the building of our cultist. Just be careful. Seems he hold up in some old warehouse. So could be any number of traps in store for us."

With: Cheon & Atreyu Location: Atreyu’s Office OOC: I will let Forks lead the NPC's : ). Aquaman gave his adoptive sister a wink when she half-joked about not holding back on this fight. Granted they had no choice but to capture – or kill – this thief, the two had always been somewhat light hearted in almost every scenario. ”As long as you’re ready to fix my shirt again,” he quipped with a warm tone. Cracking his neck left and right, Kelli followed Atreyu’s lead over towards the doorway. Whether he was leading the charge or following the vanguard, the King had no issue as long as it was strategic. Still, it’d be a lie to say he wasn’t aching for a rematch.
Reaching towards the golden knob of the door, Kelli gave the other two a nod of affirmation. ”Be careful, Cheon,” he told her firmly. While he was sure that the girl was as eager as he was, the King could freshly remember her overdoing herself and losing footing in the last bout. On top of it all, the very layout of the warehouse was unknown to them. There was no time to scout and there would more than likely be an ambush waiting on the opposite end. Being cautious wasn’t a warning as much as it was a necessity. ”And thank you, Atreyu. The help is more than appreciated,” the blonde added on before giving a hard twist and pull on the handle.
Jumping through the portal, Kelli came landing into a darkened warehouse as the detective warned. The blackness and obscurity didn’t last though as his weapon became full drawn in a flash of gold and white light. While the darkness may have been too much to navigate for others, the Atlantean was able to perceive everything without trouble. The depths of the ocean saw much less lighting than the building that occupied him now. Yet, everything remained still and silent to him. There was no motion and not a dark sorcerer to spare. The warehouse was spacious and his only company were the crates that sat littered in a sporadic manner.
”Come out, coward,” the King demanded into the dark, his illustrious weapon gripped tightly in both hands. ”I can smell you… all of you,” he added with a huff of impatience.

Feeling the magic swirling around Atreyu’s phone, Cheon watched closely as the detective’s spell finally came into fruition and spat out an address – one for a warehouse in the outter edge of the city. Popping her knuckles, Cheon agreed to Atreyu’s battle plan and gave Kelli a playful nudge when the group approached the door. It was now or never… if the key was really that important, then Cheon would stop at nothing to get it back. As the door was open and Cheon stepped through after Kelli, the first and most noticeable thing was the darkness that had enveloped the area. It wasn’t natural, and Cheon could sense the sinister energy that weighed in the atmosphere. There was a dark presence in the warehouse with an energy signature that felt exactly like the thief’s… but stronger, as if his natural domain was enhancing his magic. Or had he already broken into the Shadowcrest Manor?
There was little movement in the warehouse. With the shadows spiralling around the heroic trio, all that could be heard was the distant sound of dripping water and the light splash of the ocean by the coast. ”Heh… coward?” The voice that responded to Kelli seemed to come from all directions, fading in and out as it bounced from the walls and echoed around the group. ”A coward I may be... but a fool I am not. You dare challenge me in my own home?” The voice cackled with a sinister laugh, filling every corner of the warehouse with sound that seemed to shake the foundations. ”So be it… prepare to die”
Piercing through the shadows came dark figures that ran forwards towards the group. They appeared almost human save for the twisted and contorted bodies and the fiery glowing eyes of red and orange. The dull, low moans they were producing also sounded anything but human. ”Come forth, daemons… destroy Aquaman and his band of merry mages.” Letting out bloodthirsty screams, the shadowy masses ran forwards, lashing their clawed hands towards the group.
Cheon sprang from her combat stance, charging at the closest daemon with full force. She deftly maneuvered herself away from it’s assault and attempted to drive her fist into the creature’s face, but instead of making contact with anything physical, a fire erupted that seemed to envelope the girl and send a wave of heat into the immediate surroundings. With Cheon’s belt having extended itself upwards to cocoon the girl in a protective barrier, all the blast did was knock the girl on her back. ”What the f—“ Stunned, Cheon wasn’t sure exactly how to react, but there was little time for that. With the voice speaking a command in some dead language, the demons’ eyes all began to glow even brighter. One by one, the daemons screamed their high-pitched screams before erupting into a brilliant burst of flames around Atreyu, Kelli, and Cheon, swathing the trio in a sea of raging hellfire.
”Tcetorp su lla…” Thinking on her feet, Cheon undid her belt which, at her command, projected a defensive magical field around the three. The flames licked at the barrier, which under all the pressure of the magic in the room seemed to slowly begin cracking. ”When you said trap… I didn’t think you meant this.” Cheon glared daggers at Atreyu, hands raised as she struggled to maintain the integrity of her magical shield.
As the darkness seemed to be lifted into a central point in the air, the floating thief came into full view of the trio now. Cackling, he extended his hands out to the side. At another command, the flames that threatened to shatter the shield seemed to rise into the air, reshaping into a trident similar in appearance to Kelli’s save for the fiery aura that surrounded it. ”Weak… this is who was chosen to carry on the legacy of Zatanna?” With a snap of his finger, a fiery ring formed around the three to keep them locked in place. In the same moment, the thief split into three and dove down into the flames, their spears aimed to skewer each of the three legacies.

 Atreyu Ceallaigh
Atreyu nodded his head at his new potential....friends. Yes friends was the word. Before following into the room and that's when s**t just, s**t just got bad. "Great this is bloody terrible. He a monologuer." He said with a very obvious sigh as Cheon held up the barrier.
He was surprised as the fire encircled him. For a moment there he thought his opponent had more than just hellfire at his disposal, alas he did not. As the the 3 figures dove down at the trio. Atreyu twirled his spear, letting the anti-magic enchantment dispel it with his. He then continued the momentum of the twirl into that of a figure eight freeing Kelli and Cheon as well. He then did what would be insane to any other man. He stuck his free right hand out of the barrier and shouted in pain. At the same time shouted an ancient Enochian word. The fire immediately changed to a vibrant weight and right as the spears were about to break through the barrier the hellfire exploded into angelic soul fire sending the attackers back and away from them.
However he immediately stepped back beside Cheon falling to his knee. As his spear clangs to the ground. He was clutching his right hand blackened burned by the fire he began shouting his heavy accent coming out before he two stared back up at Cheon. "What you think I ment. Sunshine and bloody rainbows. This is the big leagues girl. This is the people who want your power and they will do anything to get it. You can't just half a** this and think your legacy will save you. Squeezing his hand before cursing once more Atreyu grabbed his spear and rose looking over at Aquaman as well. "Besides this is child's play. The traps I have in the House are way way worse than this. He's an amateur, and he's using magic to hide himself. Either 2 or all of them are a fake. I can use a spell to break his hold over this place. Which should reveal him. Cheon you should be able to throw your best shot at him then, until then just keep him busy. He knows he would lose in a match of power and will be cautious of you. Kelli if you can keep the daemons off us while we work Be appreciative. They die just like any mortal would. Just maybe a bit more flamboyantly." He said with a laugh as he waited to here how they would handle his plan.

With: Cheon & Atreyu Location: Atreyu’s Office OOC: Sorry for the wait. Kelli’s jaw clenched tightly as the nightmares before the trio came trudging out of the darkness. The ‘daemons’ as they were called wrought forth a chill into Aquaman’s spine. They were disgusting creatures that made Kelli groan at first sight. While he wanted to shoot a word of warning towards his sister, the words never made it out fast enough. He watched as her attempt to strike first utterly fail, and the creatures one by one erupting into searing hot pillars of flames.
”A bit eager there,” the tall blonde teased as he took the liberty to retreat a few steps. His feet remained quick against the bellowing explosions, dashing backwards in angled motions. Soon enough, Cheon’s barrier would come to life and engulf the three protectively from the flames which Kelli could not be more thankful for. Heat and dehydration starved strength from him. He wasn’t sure how studied their enemy was, but the conditions and environment of the fight seemed tactical enough. Prolong it enough and Kelli would be more deadweight than an ally.
Taking in Atreyu’s plan, the King nodded along in agreement. Magic was never his specialty, so all tactics and strategy would be best devised from his two partners for now. Once the fiery ring around him had been snapped, the Atlantean bound into action, pulling up beside the detective in a protective stance. He’d trust to leave the thief to Cheon while he himself would be tasked with buying Atreyu time. ”Do what you can but make it quick. Time is no friend of ours,” he replied to the occult detective.
With his trident held across his chest, Aquaman waited no longer than a few seconds for the next wave of daemons to come lashing out. ”Let’s move,” he told the others sternly. Gripping the golden weapon tightly, the trident emitted a glow of bright yellow light and released a screeching sound of electricity. One by one, the King aimed the head of his trident at the daemons and released quick bolts of energy to starve them off. While only some of the bolts found their targets and sent them backwards, the other daemons quickly became aware of the situation and began circling around the group in a shark-like manner.
”They’re waiting to strike at my first misstep,” he informed Atreyu before returning into a readied position. ”They’ll be waiting forever then,” he cockily smirked.

”Ekoms ot sniahc…” Taking advantage of the blast from Atreyu’s counter, Cheon threw a spell of her own into the mix as she turned the remnant smoke that filled the warehouse into thick, silvery chains of magic. With a second command, the chains shot downwards towards the disoriented thief, snaking around all three as they locked in place and kept him suspended in the air. ”Peek mih dnuob! I’ll try to hold him for as long as I can… stay safe.” With her hands raised and aimed at the trio of thieves, Cheon focused hard on maintaining the spell, which she could see the man was trying to verbally undo. ”I don’t know how long I can hold it for… he’s using magic I’ve never seen…” Little by little, the chains wavered in and out of existence, prompting Cheon to hold her stance. ”Tsiser…”
Unfazed by the Atlantean King’s magical trident, the new demons that seemed to seep in from the shadows charged forward, lashing and lunging at Kelli only for some of them to be knocked backwards by the trident’s energy bolts. Muttering in a dead language, the daemons began to switch tactics, laughing as, in the midst of their circling, some began to melt into the floor, traveling in a wave-like streak towards Kelli, leaving only a tail of black on the floor in their path as they moved. When they were close enough, the trails of black began circling around Kelli before emerging as one large black mass. With eight clawed hands reaching out of the entangled black mass, the creature began to spin furiously towards Kelli, lashing out like a deadly spinning top.
Little by little as the thief’s magic began to be dismantled, a dull red glow around the warehouse that spanned a full circle on the floor came into view – the magician’s seal. ”Slow…. You’re too slow.”

 Atreyu Ceallaigh
Atreyu watched as his teammates went to work putting his plan into motion. With the mage and demons taken care of Atreyu took a couple steps back away from the fighting waving his hand as a slight veil of disinterest fell over him. Making it so unless the mage or demons specifically looked for him. He would remain unnoticed. Even his own allies would be able to pick him out from the background.
Sneaking around the fight towards the magicians circle of power. He stopped beside it inspecting it and how it was set up. Shaking his head at it's unoriginal design. he reached into his jacket and pulled out a iron cross with a small crystal gem imbedded in the center. He raised the cross to his mouth and began to whisper into it. At first nothing seemed to happen. After a few moments the cross began to sing in an angelic tone. The sound so pure that it would have a bonus effect of causing the demons attacking Aquaman to flinch as it bored into their minds.
A few moments more and the cross let out a massive pulse of holy purifying light. Nodding with approval as the cross continued to glow he then thrust his spear over the circle. Using the magic negating effects to punch a hole through the barrier of evil magic. He quickly followed up the thrust by tossing the cross into the circle. As if one was throwing a grenade into a room. The cross tumbled through the air towards the center of the circle, and landed perfectly upright in the center. It released another pulse of the holy purifying light. However the cross itself seemed to explode with the light. Washing over the entire warehouse, the circle of power wiped clean. The demons blown away by the explosion as did the illusions of the thief. Revealing only his true self to Cheon and Kelli.
Atreyu did nothing else, the thief was now exposed and his power broken. Cheon should have no problem defeating the mage on her own. Especially with Kelli there to back her up should he try to summon any more playthings. It was time to see what the Legacy of the Zatara name could do on her own.
