Dear Journal,
Caine here! It's a little akward to have another child - what with Aeka and the rest of the boys. But something in me felt that we should take him in. His name is Rokiro, and he's a slight-bit dyslexic, more than a little ADHD, and there's evidence that there's some retardation to the brain. It doesn't matter. He's intelligent in his own way, and he gets along well enough with everyone else. Aekepi almost seems like he feels protective of him, and he's said as much. The rest of the boys pretty much leave well enough alone, but Kenneth has a soft spot for him apparently, and it shows greatly. Other than that, there's really not a whole lot to say. I'm filling in blank pages in this thing as we speak, as well as writing this. It seems his previous father may have ADDED to his problems, instead of helping them. Poor Roki... but he'll be fine. I'm sure we can help him work through the difficulties he's got. It's just a matter of time before he acclimates. And then, it should be smooth sailing. Afterall - I AM a pediatrician.
- Caine

Dear Journal,
Rokiro seems to be making progress in learning, but he stills gets frustrated from time to time. Mostly, it has to do with the spoken language, not the written one. He has a slow manner of speech, and doesn't tend to know what some of the words mean, but he can actually converse with someone at this point, and that would have been something impossible when we adopted him. He's taking to his brothers quite well. I've even heard Aeka and Rasied playing Twister with him one night. I've told them that it's a game he needs to play often, to improve hand-eye coordination, and learn colors and bodyparts. Not that Jason and I haven't been teaching him on our own. Jason, however has been off at work so much these past few weeks, that I've had to take days off myself to make sure that the kids weren't alone. I trust him, and I won't question him, but a part of me wonders what he's doing at all hours like that. No matter. Rokiro's vision has improved as well, but it will never be 100%. I've managed to schedule an eye appointment for him in the next month, so we will be seeing about getting him some proper glasses. He's worried that they're going to make it so that Aeka and the others make fun of him. But as soon as I pointed out the fact that -I- myself wear glasses, he calmed down on that matter quite a bit.

Dear Journal,
Rokiro is starting to come along in leaps and bounds! No longer a shy, quiet little wallflower, he's actually getting out there and meeting people! I'm absolutely thrilled! As is my mate. We signed him up for a winter 'Chirstmas Volunteer' thing, and it requires him going off to camp for a bit. He's willing, ready, and [we believe] able to do such, and is going to have a great time helping out. We're doing OUR share by running a toy drive at work. Something Dr. Arrikanez was planning on doing in the first place. It's going to be a wonderful holiday season. Even with it just being Halloween and all right now. Speaking of that, Roki's taking the rest of the family trick-or-treating on that night. We'll be going with, but Rokiro's decided that he definately wants to lead the way himself. So Jase and I have decided to let him. His speech is about ten times improved from last time, and he can actually write a letter, and have it make sense. We are so PROUD of him!
