In a Nutshell: Former Nova convicts out to make money however they can, no matter who gets in the way, spreading fear wherever they go and making trouble.
Rules
1. Follow the usual rules. You know what those are. wink
2. No RP on Gaia that goes against ToS. Some criminals are real scumbags; while it's okay to have really awful characters, remember that there are some limits (you can RP it off of Gaia so long as it never shows up on our site).
3. Do nothing unto another character without that character's owner's permission! For now, I'm going with the honor system, but if it becomes a problem, then I'll set up a formal permission system for things to be done unto someone's character (so no maiming, killing, or otherwise harming another character without the owner's permission. Obviously this doesn't apply if you own both characters. Just, y'know. Rule 2).
4. Basically, be respectful of other people!

History:
The kingdom of Selachia ruled a portion of the ocean for centuries, headed by a monarchy and nobility who considered their shark-like tails to be a particular point of pride. However, the generations of corruption and cruelty displayed by the monarchy caused discontent within the kingdom, and the nobility rebelled against them. Most of the royal family were killed or captured, and for a short period of time, the rest of the nobility ruled the country. Unfortunately, the revolution by the nobles inspired a revolution by the common people, who overthrew their nobles (who were hardly better than the king they displaced). Selachia has since collapsed into warring states ruled by various generals and religious dictators.
One of the last surviving members of the Selachian royal family is the former princess Bathyra, known as Rytha to her friends. Rytha was arrested during the First Revolution and imprisoned for several years until the Second Revolution. She was freed by the commoners, but banished from Selachia. This suited Rytha just fine, as she has come to be convinced that Selachia is beyond saving.
Rytha left her home waters with her new friends--fellow convicts, prisoners, and criminals. Rytha’s actions while imprisoned showed her to be a leader they could respect, and they now follow her loyally. She has no intention of recreating her old royal title; she doesn’t want to be a queen, she wants to be a warlord. She’s shaping up her band to become bandits, outlaws, and marauders. Her goal is to strike terror into the hearts of Novas throughout the ocean, stealing, extorting, and murdering wherever she can. She even intends to organize raids onto other herds, though her band, who call themselves the Blackstones, are currently too small to risk head-on confrontations with most herds.

Organization
The Blackstones are organized into different groups (“gangs”) depending on their particular talents. Since most of the band met each other while in a prison called the Black Rock, the gangs are all named after shades of the color black. Each gang is lead by a Boss; Rytha holds the title of Black Boss.
Midnight --murderers, assassins, and others who are good at killing. Former soldiers would also fit in well here.
Jet --thieves, bandits, and highwaymen (highwaymen = “riptides” in Blackstone parlance).
Sable --slavetraders. Slavery is legal among the Blackstones.
Onyx --rebels, rioters, and rabble-rousers. People who were accused of treason and treachery would also fit into the Onyx gang, but they will be under higher scrutiny until they have proved their loyalty.
Obsidian --seducers and other people who get what they want from their good looks.
Ink --conmen, liars, scammers, and other people who get what they want from their silver tongue.
Flotsam --slaves and other captives.

Modus Operandi
Bosses are given a certain degree of autonomy to run their gang the way they have always run it. However, each gang is taxed; a certain amount of the tax goes to Rytha herself, while the rest goes to improvements for the general good of the herd. How they raise the tax and how it is paid is entirely up to the Gang Bosses.
Base of Operations
The Blackstones are based around a small island in the middle of the ocean called New Black Rock. The surface of the island itself is mostly barren, but most of the island is hollow, forming a cave that can only be accessed from underwater. Loot and Flotsam are kept in the cave, as well as any other precious belongings or valuables they want to keep out of the water.
