The heat felt good to Perhonen, his favorite time of the year with Spring a close second. He could run freely through the fields, feeling the warm wind on his face and flutter through and around his wings, the flowers, grass, bushes and trees grew in splendor.

Sniffing the air, it was thick with humidity but with the scent of flowers and water. He was now trotting to cool down in this heat, he was flat out running just a moment ago and he had to get his bearings before venturing much further.

To him the coolness that was the weather just a few days ago felt like a distant memory. He knew it was coming, but he detested it with a passion. He was escatic that the humid, hot weather returned even if only for a bit of time. The seasons were predictable usually, but every now and then it changed and what you got was not what you were expecting.

His plans had not really changed much since the cooler weather had appeared. He was beginning his checklist to prepare for the cooler weather. The main thing he worried over was his bug friends that accompanied him everywhere. He must be sure he has enough food and drink for them to sustain through the cooler and then colder weather until the break comes with the Spring weather. He had already started a few weeks back getting things in order, bartering for goods and other necessities.

Mentally reviewing his checklist, he decided his next course of action was to start collecting firewood to keep his small place nice and cozy when the really cold weather was whipping about. He knew nature could be unpredictable, and as much as he wanted to keep goofing off with running about like a foal he had to get a head start on that checklist.

Turning to his friends who were with him he said "I believe I should start gathering firewood and stack it back home for use during the colder weather that will be coming in mere months" "I also want to stop by and see a few friends who live a distance away to barter goods" with that he turned to head back towards his home.

During the walk home his mind was going through the checklist over and over. He didn't want to miss anything. He lived by himself except his bug friends, and he could only rely on himself. His home was not close to anyone and the trek in the cold weather would be doable only in the Fall, the Winter it would be impossible.

One of his friends, Alaraic lived not to far from where he was at the moment and he decided to take a detour and head over to visit only for a short while. His bug friends loved visiting as well. The sound of his hooves hitting the dirt was getting louder the further away from the woods he was just in, the pathway he was traveling was well traveled. In some places, the dirt was compacted making it bumpy and the sound echo in the air, in other places it was soft which he found odd. "Hmmm this is not a good sign, is it?" he mused out loud.

Not to long after that he was met by Alaraic who came out of his home more than likely due to the sound of hooves on the ground or he had seen him approach. "Hello there Perhonen" he heard his friend call out. "Glad to see you, what brings you by?" he asked in a pleasant tone. "Hello Alaraic, I was of course wandering the woods taking in the fresh air, you know how much I adore the hot weather. On the way home I realized how close your home was and wanted to stop by and visit for a little while if that is okay" he said.

"Of course it is, come on inside" "I am assuming your visit has to do with bartering?" a gleam in his eye and a smile playing on his lips. Perhonen couldn't help himself he snickered. "Why yes it does, as always" he said in agreement.

Stepping inside the two friends got to business, once that was concluded to each one's satisfaction the went on to discuss other topics and one was this weather. Perhonen stated he was loving this hot, humid weather and Alaraic saying he wanted the cooler weather to arrive. "Everything has its place and time and if disturbed the consequences could be dire" with that he stared off into the distance.

Waiting a few moments before speaking, he cleared his throat and said "I better be heading home, I still have some distance to cover and want to be home before dark" "I can expect the delivery within a week?" he asked. Nodding and then saying "Yes that will be the time frame unless a issue occurs, if it does I will be sure to let you know" said Alaraic. "Thanks for the visit, business and talk" he said.

Perhonen nodded then headed out the door, back into the humid air. Sighing deeply he walked off in the direction of his home.
