With everything moving along and her new housemate, Chillingham finally had time to look into something that had popped up as a notice. Another magical, awesome person, and if she was reading things right, they were from the same place as Blarney was!

The only thing she was worried about was whether Isaiah would be rude to this new person. The disgruntled mad scientist had been moodier and moodier as she had cleaned things up and had added a personal touch to things in the old Victorian mansion.

Pacing around the fountain that they were supposed to meet up at, she triple checked her list of things against what she had in the duffle bag over her shoulder to make sure she had enough supplies for cleaning, as well as some other audiobook CDs to pop into the little setup she had going there in the lab. The battery pack she had on her was charged enough that he could probably make his way through one or two of the books while she cleaned around. But she did have half a mind to leave it running while she wasn't there and put on one of those icky romance novels her mum sometimes bought.

It was while she was on that thought, while making a face, that she noticed someone approaching. And for a moment, she thought that maybe they were a princess and found herself staring in wonder.

Aaru had given Joy an expectation of at least enjoying herself when she took in Chilligham's uniform, her face brightening almost immediately from a polite smile to a dimpled one of genuine pleasure as she approached, sticking out her hand. The palm of it glowed some pale sunlight color, and she had a firm handshake that seemed more like that of a businesswoman than a princess.

"You are cute as a ******** button," she announced, as usual somewhat marring her general queenly appearance with immediate casual vulgarity. "I'm so looking forward to this - thank you for your hospitality." She eyed the duffel bag. "Let me know if there's anything I can help with while we're there. And call me Joy, please, the full name is too damn long."

Looking down, Chillingham bounced excitedly over the fact that not only did they look like a princess, they had magically glowing symbols, and that was the most magical thing she'd seen that wasn't an angry snake in the sky.

Shaking their hand, with more energy than firmness in her grip, she couldn't help but laugh at the words that came next. "Aw, cripes, I'm honored. You've got to tell me about how that," pointing at the glowing mark on their hand as politely as she could," works! It's so pretty!"

Then, focusing back on the question, she shifted the duffel. "Oh, this, you don't havta. I leave stuff there each time and bring trash back. I uh... apologize in advance for the bugger there... Maybe he might be nice seeing someone so regal looking though!" At least she could hope; otherwise, she definitely was going to leave the most obnoxious book she could find running for the next break between visits.

"Let me know if you're ready," she said excitedly while holding out her hand again to Joy. She figured it would work like it did when she brought Freddy last time, but she always wanted to make sure they knew what was up in case she really knackered it somehow.

The barrage of enthusiasm, as always, only served to make her feel the need to be a little more cool and aloof by comparison, but she wasn't a monster, and therefore reached out to take the offered hand. "I think they're usually a bit of a d**k," she said, alluding to the ghost that awaited them on the other side. "Consider that they've been wandering around with nothing to do for a thousand years, and it's a wonder they're not worse. No pun intended," she added pleasantly.

In truth, her feelings were a great deal mollified by being referred to as regal-looking. Once again, the outfit proved to be the best part of the bargain.

"And I'll tell you as much as I know about how it works," she added, "but it isn't much. Beam us up, if you please."

Chillingam's eyes widened slightly in understanding before cracking up a little. "Oi, so it's not just him that has a tizzy." While she couldn't deny that being stuck looking at a mess for that long of a time might justify the man's mood, she still felt like he could be less of a wanker to her when she was trying to clean up and fix things.

With another excited little nod, she held the other's hand and focused on that saying in her mind again. That excited energy of hers evened out as her lips half moved while she thought through it. Part of her was still sort of embarrassed at how serious it sounded, so she was glad she could go there without having to shout it out to everyone in the area.

I pledge my life and loyalty to Saturn, and to Chillingham.
I humbly request your aid, so that in return I may give you mine.

Looking up, she stared at the haunted sort of manor or well now that she'd spoken to Blarney; she was sure it must have been part of a castle before. There was so much downed stone around the sides, but that was something to deal with later. Her first goal was to scan the field of dead grass to see if Isiah was poking about, but so far it seemed like he was probably moping around the lab again.

Looking back at Joy, she smiled again. "Welcome to Chillingham! It's not mighty nice right now, but at least I got the path fixed so you don't havta step on the dirt." Carefully leaving out the fact that there were apparently graves all under the soil, unmarked, of course, thanks to the mad scientist inside.

"I'm sure I've stepped in worse," she said with a grim sort of cheer, thinking of being waist-deep in a moat that smelled like rot and algae.

She was surveying her surroundings with a quick, observant eye that was not without an air of critical appraisal, as if she was somehow weighing up and measuring the Wonder. Which she was, of course, for the purpose of finding it wanting compared to the Garde, even if Pendour still left a bit of a bitter taste in her mouth in terms of beautiful grandeur, since coming in second place always did taste pretty bitter to someone like herself.

She gave a little nod, though, and if it was actually in satisfaction that she was still feeling good about her tiny kingdom, it at least came across as one of general approval. "What other sort of work has it needed?" she asked, gathering up her skirts to walk alongside.
