"Mmm..." Kione thought aloud, eyes half shut as she tried to concentrate on what would be best. But they were out in the middle of so many different elements... the desert, the grasslands, the oasis... where could they possibly store their kill? Maybe if they could find a cave... but that thought was no good. There weren't any caves around here!
Her mouth twisted and she felt her lips slide on the still-wet blood. She tried to lick at it while she thought, but the thoughts weren't coming. "I don't know... there's nowhere to store it! Do you think we'll have to leave it here? If we fight off the scavengers, we'll just use up all our remaining energy! Ohh... why does life have to be so unfair!" she pouted. They couldn't guard the kill night and day, it would take way too much energy! Did they have to give it up?

The lioness watched Kiho as the cub thought. Shida licked off some of the blood around her mouth and paws. She personally had no idea what they were going to do. But of course, her being miss know-it-all, she wasn't about to say it so plainly.
Shida shrugged. "That's life. Life is cruel, so we just have to work around it." she replied. "It'd be a shame to just to leave it for others. And it's not like we know any cheetahs to keep it safe for us..." the watery lioness said, thinking outloud.

Kione Kiho's ears perked up to Shida's tone of voice. She turned to the adult and asked, "What do you mean 'work around it'? Do you have anything in mind?" Maybe she knew of something they could do, but she knew it was unlikely. The area was so expansive and flat, there were no crevaces Kiho knew of for them to hide the kill and scent in, what could they do? "If only there was a cave around..." she huffed, leaning her head back down on the body.
Her vision twitched to a small bird that landed a few yards off from them. She knew by the size of the bird it was probably not a scavenger, and she even believed she had seen the same kind of bird picking out food between the teeth of gaping hippo mouths, but she didn't want to risk it. She growled deep and low to the bird, but when it didn't budge she lunged at it quickly. Frightened, the bird took off, and Kiho didn't have to move very far at all. "We can't keep this up, and the sun... it's getting too hot to stay out here," she panted, laying back down.

"Well... Not really. Unless you wouldn't mind staying here for the night." Shida replied with a shrug. The lioness rolled over to her back, stretching. "Mmm... Yeah. But the nearest cave is a few days travel away."
When the cub growled at something, Shida shifted her head to see Kiho lunging at a bird. All upside-down of course since she didn't want to move. "Mmm... Well there may be some shade nearby." she said, lying like a young cub as she exposed her tummy to the sun.

Kione Kiho turned her head back toward Shida as the lioness spoke, trotting back over to their kill. She grumbled as she stared at the body, wishing she had enough room in her small belly to eat some more and make the body lighter to carry. "Maybe... maybe we could move in the direction of the cave, but we'd better stay under the shade of a tree for the night. That way... maybe we'd be harder to spot, in the dark," Kiho thought aloud, looking to the azure lioness hopefully. She wished like nothing else to be as tactful as her mentor one day. She hoped she was heading in the right direction!

The watery lioness watched Kiho upside down, taking it all in. "That sounds good." Shida replied softly. "Plus, we're both dark colored enough to blend with the shadows decently." Shida would rather have just dragged the carcass to a tree and just stay by it until all the good meat was eaten. But she wasn't alone anymore, she had to think of the cub.

Kione Kiho smiled broadly as Shida agreed with her, and just as suddenly she fell to the floor, exhausted. With a "Huff!" from her maw as she crawled over to the shade, she layed her head on her front paws once comfortable and sighed. "Can we rest here for a bit before we get going? I'm tired..." she asked, pale eyes still on the adult lioness. She would have preferred to get going to the area that was the safest as soon as possible, but she was just so fatigued!

Shida returned the cub's smile as she collasped. Kiho was so cute... Cute and smart. Lovely combo! "Sure, I don't see why not. I think a little nap in the shade would be good for the both of us." the blue lioness replied, eyes soft with kindness. "Plus, it looks like you need some!"
