A servant woke Reia. She groaned. She never got up this early. "What is it?" she asked, sitting up, still not completely awake, her golden brown hair in disarray. She untangled her silver swan necklace from her messy locks.
"The King wishes to speak with you," the servant said, bowing, and then retreated out of her bedroom.
Reia climbed out of bed, and strode over to her wardrobe. She wondered what her father wanted with her. She hadn't gotten in trouble, her birthday wasn't coming up, and he was in perfect health. She pondered as she changed out of her sleeping gown and into a slightly formal dress. It was a lovely sapphire blue with silver embroidery.
She combed out her long hair, then gently placed a silver tiara studded with sapphires atop her head. She added a pair of silver earrings and blue slippers, then walked down the hall, dress swishing behind her.
The Throne Room was more of an enormous hall reall, and her footsteps echoed. A servant brought her a goblet of wine. King Rinos looked up, and motioned for her to sit beside him. She sat on the throne, usually reserved for a queen, curious.
"Reia, there is something important that we need to discuss."
"And what is that?" she asked, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"As you know, your brother, Rinos the II married Princess Jarine of Sarenovis a year ago, and decided to live with her there, rather than here in Myara. That leaves you as the sole heir to the throne, since he has decided that two countries of that large a size would be too much to handle. You're of marrying age now and I'm afraid I'm not in the shape I was a few years ago." He glanced at her nervously.
"So you're saying you want me to get married before you die?"
"Yes, I want to make sure my kingdom will be fine when I pass, and that I can rely on someone to carry on after me."
"I'm perfectly capable of taking care of it myself father," Reia said, her voice rising.
"I know you are, but the rest of the kingdom..." He sighed. "I just don't think we have any other choice."
"Who cares what the kingdom thinks?" Reia said, standing up and turning away from him. "Did you ever consider that I don't want to be married?"
"Yes Reia, I have... but I'm afraid of what will happen to you if you don't. The kingdom could turn against you, you could be hanged!"
Reia grimaced. "Father, please. Don't have a bunch of prince's parade through here just to make sure I'm taken care of. I'll be fine on my own, even with a bunch of angry villagers." She smirked.
"Reia, you're going to be married and that is final!" he said. His voice was shaking slightly and he didn't look her in the eye, but he had never yelled at her before.
Reia's eyes started to fill with tears, and she angrily brushed them away. She whispered something under her breath.
"What did you say?" he asked.
"I hate you!" she shouted, the hall ringing with the sound of her voice.
Rinos stood. "Reia, you don't understand. This is something you must do."
"Don't come near me!" She flung her silver goblet at him, which rapidly stained his front with red. She took off towards the door.
"Reia! Come back!" he called after her, rushing to follow. She was too quick, and had already left the Throne Room to disappear into the castle corridors.

My eyes started to hurt when I got to "So you're saying you want me to get married before you die?"

I like it so far but I'll finish the rest later *blink blink*

Reia flung herself onto her bed, wrinkling her dress, and punched her pillow angrily, hot tears rolling down her cheeks. She regretted it though. I'm acting like a five-year-old, she thought. And he probably thinks that's all I am. A little girl who retreats to her room and doesn't come out again until she gets hungry and then apologizes for arguing with him.
There was a knock on the door. She shouted, "Go away!" The door opened slowly. She sat up. As soon as someone's head was in view, Reia threw her pillow. It was right on target. "Oomph!" she heard. "Serves you right!" she spat, seething.
A man walked into the room, blonde hair messy, probably from being hit in the head with a cushion. "Oh! I'm so sorry James!" Reia said as he stepped in.
"Well, at least it was just a pillow. He tossed it back at her. She caught it. "Nice aim by the way," he remarked.
Reia smiled. "Well I guess I had a good teacher."
James laughed. "I never would have taught you to fight if I knew you were going to use your skills to throw pillows at me."
"I thought you were a servant," Reia said to the knight.
"Have a spat with your father?", he asked, raising and eyebrow.
"Yes," she said guiltily. "But it's his fault. He's forcing me to get married."
James stood there a while, his hands clasped behind him. "And what do you plan to do about it? Not only is he your father, he's the king of one of the largest countries in existance."
"I know," Reia said, getting annoyed, despite the fact he was her best friend. "And I know he loves me, so don't even try that."
James shifted his feet. "Well, whatever you've got in mind Princess, I'll try and help you best I can," he said finally. "Though I don't think it's a very good idea."
"Thank you James, now, do you know a way to get out of the castle without being seen?"
"Princess..."
"You said you'd help me."
"I knew I shouldn't have said that," he grumbled. "Follow me."

xd Oh well, 'cause I decided the rest and some of that was just too dramatic and fast-paced so I deleted it.
