Aches radiated all over Ishara's body and through her raised limb as she limped along. Her journey hadn't be kind to her between the Graveyard and the cool of the mountainside, and as she'd drawn near, she'd smelled other lions. Another pride... She hoped that she'd be able to stay amid them, despite what had happened. Collapsing under a tree, a groan escaped the once proud lioness, body weakened by bloodloss and her journey. She greatly hoped that they wouldn't chase her off, she was in no shape to escape an angry pride.

A short distance away, the black-pelted Kahini padded along through brush and grasses, far enough from the Mwezi'kivuli dens to feel alone but not enough to get himself into unwanted trouble. He moved slowly and deep in though, his face contorted into a perpetual sneer, still seething with hate from his confrontation with Anga. Who did that huntress slut think she was? Didn't she know who she was talking to?.. He would show her; she wouldn't get the best of this old lion.. No one would.

He growled quietly under his breath, temper flaring again in recount of the argument. His violet eyes remained vigilant for movement as he walked, knowing even his fellow night-hunters couldn't be trusted of late. His current vulnerability felt like a sign hung tightly around his neck for any lowly creature to catch sight of and exploit, his shield of security irrevocably shaken. He would have to do something to fix this.. He needed allies. No, what he needed was followers.

Frankly, anyone or anything would do right now. He had to prove to himself he still had control. He was still the Kahini, darnit. Or at least, he had worked too long and too hard to keep people thinking that..

Dark gray ears flicked as the lioness lifted her head. Someone was coming... She tried rising, but simply collapsed, bits of grass and dust billowing up in small clouds around her. Ishara panted a bit, trying to get her silvery bangs out of her face. She couldn't just lay there, looking utterly pathetic, could she? But as she tried to rise again, she found that she had no choice. She would have to face whoever was coming towards her.

Siri muttered to himself inaudibly as he made his way through the brush, not even paying a moment's notice to the injured femme until he was but a few feet away. Only then did he freeze in his tracks, ears lowered back against his thickly-maned skull. He stared quietly and with uncertainty, his imposing figure towering over her.

Before he could even see her he could tell by her scent alone she wasn't from this place; which was made obvious later when he looked her over. She wasn't a white-fur, at least. Even if she had been an odd runt they weren't close enough to the inner borders for her to have come from the Jua lands. Still, what was she doing all the way out here? And more importantly, was she alone..?

He lifted his head into the air and sniffed at her before finally deciding to speak, his body moving fluidly as he made his way closer. His voice was deep, silky and regal, yet his tone portrayed an air of frigid callousness. "What a little broken thing.. Tell me, what do you think you're doing here?.."

The lioness looked up, suddenly feeling quite... Small. Were all lions from the mountains big and burly like him? She shifted, wincing at her injuries. "I came seeking solace... A place to hide away..." But she'd certainly not seen a lion darker than her mother before, that was certain.

The lioness' shaken nerves fed Siri's confidence by the moment, and he moved closer, slowly circling her as he spoke. As he watched the female, an idea formed in his mind, an intriguing musing if nothing more. If she wanted solace, she'd have to supply something else in return.

Siri was old, and he was far past the hormonal urges of the younger males. He'd gone through that stage once before, with catastrophic consequences. No, it wasn't mating he had on his mind. But this one seemed so ignorant of him. Perhaps he could teach her, as he did Ausi. Having a huntress on his side would be beneficial what with Anga's little outburst..

"Well then, I'm not sure you've come to the right place." he spoke, the words dripping smoothly off of his lips as he watched her with an unfaltering gaze. "My pride is not far from here, and they might see you as a threat in these difficult times. Even the smallest pride at its most desperate can be a dangerous thing to a lone soul like yourself. It is not safe to wander to the lands of the Mwezi'kivuli.." He paused. "..That is, without proper guidance."

Her grey ears flicked. "Guidance..? Anything.." Her gaze shifted down to the grasses at her paws, a slight tremble running along her body. Of all the things to notice, she suddenly became aware of her hunger. But what use was she right now? She had no strength to hunt, for anyone or herself.

"How small IS your pride?" Curiosity had gripped her, green eyes lifting back up to the dark male. "The one I came from, we only had 13 or so members.." Indeed, the Maziko were tiny, even compared to other small prides. How they'd survive was a mystery to the lioness.

((Haa, thirteen ain't small.. Mwezi only has seven, xDD;;; ))

Siri stiffened a bit again. These thirteen, would they be following her here?.. Even if not a present threat, Siri decided it unwise to give out such sensitive information right away. "Enough to easily take on a solitary, beaten lioness." He simply responded in amusement.

He hesitated, voice growing softer. "If it is protection you seek, I am one of the few here who can give it. I am Kahini of this place, a most sacred position within the pride.." Siri leaned down, violet eyes peering deeply into hers. The price should be meager in comparison. After all, he was offering her life to her..

He paused, eyes going back towards the direction of the caves. He wondered idly if the huntresses were still at work. "You look hungry."

((She's not gotten out much, though, so she has an excuse for saying the Maziko are small xd ... ALL THESE M NAMES! xd ))

Her ears moved back a bit. "I see.." She fidgeted, body savoring the rest under the tree. "Well... I am indeed alone... Injured... Nobody's coming for me, and I would have nothing to lose if I WAS attacked by a pride."

Her gaze lifted, looking up into the violet orbs. "I would like that... And yes... I am hungry..." Feeling rested, she attempted to rise, wobbling on her three better limbs. "I will give anything in return for food, safety.." The old hyena teeth on her necklace clacked together, one brushing past the moon in the center. The night... Her dark solace for the sheer fact she blended in. She looked down at it, contemplating if she should keep it. She'd decide later.

((Late response. D: ))

As much as he detested the idea of giving the Mwezi'kivuli's food to an outsider, perhaps it would be worth it for the services she could provide him. He decided to continue being diplomatic for now.

He raised his head proudly and looked down on the rogue. "I can provide for you what you need.." He paused, maw curling into a devilish grin before he continued on, voice dripping with charm. His tail whipped at the ground behind him as he began his speech. "These are troubling times; despite the generous rewards given us by our god, still, some doubt him. He has provided for us everything, and all he requires is our gratitude. He chose me at birth to speak to all mortals on his behalf. I know his will, and I follow it. In return, I live a life that is blessed."
