What are they?
- Sprites are essentially miniature Fiends. They're roughly the size of a small faerie and are typically no more than twelve inches tall. The primary difference between Fiends and Sprites would be what they are made of. While normal Shadows are remnants of trapped souls, Sprites are merely the memories, thoughts, and emotions that have been left over by the previous owner of that particular gem or piece of jewelry. They still resemble a Fiend due to the nature of the spell used to release the memory locked within.
Unlike Shadows, these creatures do not require near the attention and are very self-reliant. They also lack a soul bond to one single person the way Fiends have with their guardians, so after reaching their final form they can very easily survive on their own. They do, however, prefer to stalk their current guardian, as they really don't enjoy being entirely alone. Sprites also do not retain the gem from they emerged from in the center of their chest. The piece of jewelry or gem they came from remains perfectly intact and may be worn by the guardian as though nothing had changed.
Think of them as small, playful (or spiteful depending upon personality) spirits.
Stages & Evolution
- ONE: The first stage starts out as a stone or piece of jewelry.
TWO: In the second the stone/jewelry has begun to emit darkness, which means the sprite is about ready to emerge. Unlike Fiends they don't truly become a wisp at this stage and cannot move around or float.
THREE: The sprite has emerged and is ready to release miniature-sized havoc upon the world!
Special: Here in the not so distant future, it will be possible to evolve a Sprite into a more 'adult' form which will involve unique lineart and all sorts of pretty detail.
The first two stages are always unique lineart, while the final form of the Sprite itself is on a base piece of lineart that I alter to add different hair and clothes, etc. More lineart will become available as Reyna deems fit.
Abilities
- Sprite abilities are much the same as Fiend abilities, but obviously on a smaller scale. All of their abilities take effect immediately from the time they emerge from their stone. Sprites that are roleplayed and have a maintained journal may develop unique abilities, though! If you're not clear about the abilities I'm referring to, click here for more info!
Journal Maintenance
- Just so everyone knows, you are not required to maintain a journal in the 'traditional' sense of journal recording. You can post whatever you want so long as it's related to your Sprite. Pictures, small excerpts of lyrics, poetry, OOC roleplay chats, and miniature comics. It's up to you! Also, your journals will never be locked or taken away, even if you disapear off the face of the earth itself. I will, however, say that people that keep journals actively shall get extra perks that other Sprite owners may not get. ninja
