"Down by the Lake..." RP 2006.05.19 Kylinari Not too far away from HQ lies a small peaceful lake, tinted a deep cerulean in its liquid hues. Small fish skirt the water's edge as ducks and geese swim upon it's glassy surface. Walking along the lakeside was Tangel. Her own blue form making equally fluid movements to the soft music she hummed. She enjoyed the serene environment here as it was indeed calm and quiet. The only sounds coming from that of nature itself.
She smiled as a small family of ducks crossed her path to enter the lake, then sat with her toes touching the cool waters as she watched them swim further and further away.
She took a deep breath of the crisp air and halfway purred to herself. If there was one thing that was noticably different here than from home, it was the air. At home, there'd be that small n** of salt in the air, since it was right next to shore anyways.
Tangel noticed a little setback in her current moment of solitude, however. She was, in fact, alone... Granted this peaceful view of nature itself could calm even the roughest of hearts, but the fact that for once she had no one to talk to or play with sort of tugged her longing for company.
Giving a gentle sigh, she stuck her toes into the water a little more - smiling only when a tiny fish swam up to investigate them.Reeshie Hack Charlie lay on his back underneath the drooping branches of a large willow, just on the water's edge. His paws pillowed his head and his eyes were closed against the thick, leafy shade.
He liked this spot. It was quiet, solitary, and nothing to do but lie there and rest.
He'd been around most of the day, running errands with one of his "sisters". She wasn't really his sibling, they weren't even of the same species, but he was told to call her that, so he allowed his new family that one small victory.
So he was rather tired. That made this quiet little spot all the more enjoyable. Little did he know, that there was another Audio just a few feet down the shore and that all she would have to do was look at the willow and see him among the greenery, at least from that angle. Kylinari Tangel sighed once more, her eyes now watching the ducks for a moment longer until a butterfly - like a monarch only with blues in place of the yellows - flitted across her view. She smiled and watched as it fluttered towards the direction of a great willow and landed...
... on another Audio's nose.
She giggled and stood, half skipping towards the other audio in silent curiosity. Who was that? How long had he or she been there without her noticing? Closer inspection proved the Audio to be male, making Tangel blush softly at how handsome he looked now that she had a good look of him.
"Hello..." she spoke softly. "Mind if I join you?" she asked, holding aside a few of the drooping branches to see him clearly.Reeshie Hack Charlie wiggled his nose and his eyes blinked open when the butterfly landed on it and he tried to get it to fly off by blowing towards his nose. Not an easy feat, and the butterfly was stubborn.
He turned his head with a sigh when the other Audio approached and the insect finally flew to another perch. She was rather pretty, but it was spoiled on Charlie, because he was never in the mood for company, but most of all, female company. Girls made too much noise.
"If you'd like. I don't own the lake," he mummbled, resuming his former position, his bright green eyes snapping shut again. Kylinari Tangel giggled softly and shook her head, sitting nearby. "I'm not sure if anyone owns the lake, though if they did, I'm sure they wouldn't mind as long as we took care of it!" she smiled warmly then cleared her throat as close to quiet as she could.
"My name is Tangel." She purred faintly and flicked her tail into the wind some. "What is you name, if you don't mind me asking?"Reeshie Hack Charlie sighed and opened his eyes again. She seemed intent to ruin his solitude. "Charlie. Tangel... That's a different name. Never heard that one before," he said and looked her up and down. "Suits you," he added, turning his head to lok back up to the leafy green canopy. He wondered a bit why she wanted to talk to him but shrugged it off for now. Kylinari Tangel smiled softly and blushed at the comment. She had heard that alot from her human and the rest of her adopted family, but never from another Audio... then again... she had only met two others...
Murring softly she pulled her knees softly to her chest. "Charlie suits you too..." she blushed again. Her head then tilted, letting a cheek rest upon one of her knees. "So what are you doing out here all by yourself, Charlie?"Reeshie Hack "I like to be by myself. There's too much noise at home," Charlie replied, blinking a couple of times then closing his eyes again. He had glanced at her, when she had spoke, and noticed the rosey tint to the white fur on her cheeks. It almost made him smile cheekily.
Of course he'd had his "human", for lack of a better word, gush over him and random human girls, too. But he'd yet to have a blushing affect on anyone, human or Audio. It was rather amusing.
He shrugged over his name. "I donno. Charlie can suit pretty much anyone. Tangel's different, though," he said and glanced at her without moving his head this time. "It's a special name that fits only one person. Nobody else has that name." Kylinari Tangel blushed again with a soft giggle. "I know what you mean about too much noise at home... My human keeps so many other creatures and pets and things that'll make your head want to spin!" She purred softly at the thought of all those random creatures still getting along in such a cramped place.
She couldn't help but blush again to his words about her name. 'Special...' she thought. 'It feels nice to know that I'm special...' "My human said that she made it up by merging two words together. I've been attracted to the Techno genre of music since before I can remember and she thinks that I resemble an Angel. So she put Techno and Angel together to form Tangel!" Her tail gave another soft flick - its motion alone signalling that she was happy and content.Reeshie Hack Charlie let out a very light snort and shrugged. "My human says she named me after one of her relatives who died. Techno's kinda bassey, right? Don't really like that much. I like slow, soft songs," he told her, starring up at the branches so that he wouldn't stare at her.
She didn't make any sense to him. She sounded a little like himself and yet she was so talkative. And friendly, too. He could have used severa oppurtunities to make fun of her to drive her away and leave him in peace, and yet he held back each time. That puzzeled him the most. Kylinari Tangel nodded softly. "If it makes you feel any better... She originally named her car Tangel..." She gave a soft snicker to that herself. She usually had a hard time telling other people that, since mostly everyone that knew back at home laughed at her for it until Kylin was noticed nearby.
"As for Techno being bassey...?" She stopped for a moment and shook her head softly. "I... don't care much for the bass... I usually like techno with very little bass. Two of my favorites are actually low in bass. Well... the versions I've heard of them, anyways!" She gave a soft and sheepish grin to her last statement.
"What's your favorite song?" she asked curiously - halfway changing the subject.Reeshie Hack Charlie quirked a smile at the thing about Tangel's human and the car, then listened as she explained some finer points of techno. When she asked him what his favorite song was, he scratched the back of his head a little.
"Well, I like 'When I Get Where I'm Going' and... 'What Hurts The Most'," he replied after a moment of thought. Those were two of the many songs he'd been listening to lately. Kylinari She smiled and nodded. "My human likes Billy Joel. She sings some of us to sleep at night. The little ones usually cry until she does, but I actually like the lullabye she sings to them. It's called, "Goodnight My Angel..."... Have you heard of it?" she smiled, though half expected him to be clueless.Reeshie Hack Charlie thought a moment, then shook his head. "It sounds familiar, but I'm not sure. It's like an echo of a tune," her replied with a shrug. "I do know who Billy Joel is though," he added, humming a couple of lines from "Why Should I Worry". Oddly enough, he found he was beginning to enjoy her smile. Kylinari She only smiled and shrugged. "It's a very pretty song. I'd suggest listening to it at least once. It's a slow song, so you might find it enjoyable." She thought for a moment then remembered some of the stuff Ky had told her of the famous artist.
"Billy Joel is a middle aged man who writes both the lyrics and music for his songs. He plays the piano very well and I've even heard he plays other instruments in his songs too! From what I've heard, most of his songs tell stories. Some tragic, some..." she giggled softly with another shrug. "... not so tragic..."

"Down by the Lake..." RP Continued: 2006.05.20 Reeshie Hack "I'll have Reesh look for it, then," Charlie mumbled, yawning. It really was a nice day and for once, he wasn't all that annoyed at another's presence.
"Have you heard of the two songs I mentioned?" he asked, glancing over at her. He liked the little star on her forehead. It made her name fit all the more, recalling the picture book he had found at home and its picture of the Christmas Star. Kylinari *is skipping the pics for now... x.x* Tangel thought for a moment then nodded faintly. "They sound familiar, but I don't think I've ever had the chance to listen to them... Who sings it? Maybe I can get Ky to play them for me one day..." She smiled again, giving her tail a soft flick against the base of the tree.
Charlie seemed rather interesting to her. She loved his colors as they were somwhat close to her own. Well... the blue at least... and some of his black patterns looks partly similar to her darker blues. Looking quickly over him again, she gave a soft murr. He was, in fact, handsom.Reeshie Hack "Brad Paisley sings 'When I Get Where I'm Going' and Rascal Flatts sing 'What Hurts The Most'. Reesh says that 'What Hurts' goes better with one of my 'sisters' so she gets all weepy whenever she hears it. Humans are so weird," Charlie replied, noticing her gaze on him. He used this oppurtunity to really look at her.
Her markings were rather pretty and she had such bright, expressive eyes. He wondered what she saw in him and his eyes narrowed slightly. He looked back up at the green 'roof'. He didn't understand why his cheeks began to warm, but knew he was glad for his dark face-fur to cover the undoubtable coloring of his cheeks.
Why he blushed, he didn't know. Why he was enjoying her company he did not know either. In fact, he didn't really understand any of this and that realization didn't really bother him for some reason. Kylinari Tangel couldn't help but giggle. Humans were weird. Her human proved that daily. "If you think that's weird... you should meet my human sometime. She's the weirdest being I think I've ever met. And she's definately the weirdest out of the rest of the family..." She smiled for a moment, letting another blush flood her cheeks when she watched him look away.
With a softer voice, she laid her cheek upon her knee again and wrapped her tail around her crossed ankles. "What's your family like, Charlie?" Reeshie Hack Charlie shrugged. "Too loud and crowded. Reesh has this big house and island, but it's still crowded. There's a lot of little things runing around and being noisey and like to bother me to play with them. And then there's the girls. When I first came, they were all freaking out and saying I was... ... cute," he muttered, then sighed.
"Except Sabine. She seemed to treat me with, I donno, respect I guess. She told me that she wasn't all blond and never called things cute. She said, that being a monster it was against her code of ethics. She's easier to talk to," he added, thinking to himself that Tangel was easy to talk to, too. He felt his cheeks heat up again and he smiled ever so slightly. Kylinari Tangel nodded softly and smiled a little herself. "Yeah... I know how that can be..." She bit her lip softly before moving to sit a little closer to the other Audio.
She wrapped her tail around her legs again and murred once more. "Half of my family like to make fun of me and my name. Not all of my family is nice, but I'm safe whenever Kylin is around..."
Her purple-grey eyes focused upon the water and she smiled softly. "Or... Meli... She's a really big dragon who watches over the younger members. She usually takes place of Ky in most situations..."
Her blush increased softly as she smiled again. "Besides... I don't think your cute..." Her gaze shifted over to Charlie with her blush highly evident. "You're quite handsom, if you don't mind my compliment..."
Part of her was afraid that he'd think of her as another one of those girls he kept scowling over that call him cute. Though handsome was definately a different category in her book. Reeshie Hack Charlie's ears perked up and he looked at her with wide eyes. "What was that?" he asked, not sure he'd heard her right. Whenever Reesh or one of his sisters called him cute, it made him feel like a child and that none of them acknowledged the fact that he was a grown male. He remembered talking to one of his brothers and his brother-in-law.
"If a girl calls you cute like our sisters do, she probably thinks you're fluffy or something," Larry said and shuddered. "I may be vain, but not THAT desperate." Merlin, Nimue's magic weaving mate, rolled his eyes. "Don't listen to that Narcissus. You should take some compliments. But watch out. If a femme gives you some of the big ones, she might just be interested in you. Not that I'm saying that's a bad thing, but-" "What are the big ones?" Charlie asked, interrupting Merlin in a half bored, half interested tone. "Like you're handsome or something about the way you talk or something you're good at."
He blinked. Merlin had to have been joking. Tangel wasn't interested in him! He hadn't done anything but lie there and chat a bit with her. Kylinari Tangel blushed even brighter, keeping her eyes focused upon the water. "I said you were handsome..." she repeated, her soft smile still remaing. She then blinked and turned to look at him. "Why...? Is that bad?" She blinked a few times while looking at him now. He had such beautiful eyes, that it made her blush seem as if it was pulsating through her cheeks because of it showing up, then fading, showing, fading, then showing again.

"Down by the Lake..." RP Continued: 2006.05.21 Kylinari Tangel blushed again, but purred and leaned faintly into his touch. She gave a gentle shrug and smiled, "I'm not very sure myself..." Turning her gaze quickly back to the water, she thought for a moment. It was hard explaining something you felt if you had no idea what exactly you were feeling.
"Have you ever..." she bit her lip at this point. She was always the one to sift through her words before actually saying them... sometimes... "Have you ever had that feeling of butterflies fluttering in the pit of your stomach? And it only happens when you look at someone?" She turned her head again - this time to look at him straight in the eyes. "Or just that simple state of joy and happiness that comes unexpectedly without any other explanation than the fact that you're comfortable when you're around somebody?" She hoped that she was making sense, because the words in her brain at the moment weren't exactly lining up correctly... but they seemed to fit? Reeshie Hack "Actually, no," Charlie said, his ears drooping slightly. He tilted his head just a little to one side but kept his gaze on hers. "I've never had that feeling before. And I don't know about butterflies in my stomach, but for some unknown reason I actually feel happy with you here. That's never happened. Usually," he paused and looked at the water.
"I keep to myself. I don't really like people. They're loud and annoying and always have their own opinions that they think everyone has to know and don't understand the beauty of silence. But..." and he looked back at her, his eyes softer than before.
"But I don't mind you. It's like... Every voice in the world is screeching and yours is a song. I don't know how else to explain it."Kylinari Tangel couldn't help but blush even brighter than before. She returned her gaze back to the water quickly to try and hide it, but she knew it was pointless. Her soft smile didn't want to leave either, but she didn't mind showing it.
She fell silent in her smiling for the lack of words erupted and she had no real idea as to how to respond. It was almost as if there were no words to be said...?
After her blushing had toned down its brightness some, she returned her gaze to his - now purring ever so faintly.
She couldn't think of any other way to thank him for his compliment other than... "Thank you..." ... with another of her warm smiles. Reeshie Hack Charlie actually smiled back and touched her cheek again. "When you blush, it's kinda pretty," he said and lightly kissed her cheek, his paw on the opposite cheek. He hoped she didn't mind, it was one of those spur of the moment things and he really hadn't thought about kissing her until he'd already done it.
"Um... I'm sorry... If I, if that was uncalled for," he said slowly, his cheeks heating up. He knew she probably wouldn't see his blush, but the fact was that it was there all the same.Kylinari Tangel giggled and scooted closer to him. She gave a purr and nuzzled against his shoulder softly. "There's no need to be sorry..." she blushed, then giggled some more.
"I have a question..." she stated while sitting upright. She tried to do a soft immitation of him while asking. "You keep blushing. Why?" She refrained from another giggle.
Though she couldn't outwardly see the color change in his cheeks, she knew the looks of a blushing person. It got easy to tell with all the other dark colored pets back at home. Especially when they just got caught in a mushy moment with their significant other. Tangel usually had a knack for running into couples at awkward times. Reeshie Hack Charlie's eyes went wide and his ears shot up. "H-how..." he began to say, but broke off with a half-laugh. "I donno. It's not like I can control it," he said with a smile. When she nuzzled his shoulder he tilted his head so that he could nuzzle her, too.
"I like you, Tangel. You're different than everyone I've met before. A good kind of different," he said slowly, not sure how to explain what he felt. When one does talk a lot, putting words to things is often difficult to do.Kylinari She giggled and purred softly with a shrug. "You learn to pick up on such hints when most of your family is darker in color than yourself." she halfway explained.
She purred a slight hint louder at his next words, soon nuzzling herself under his chin. "I like you too, Charlie..." she conessed then giggled faintly. "I could say the same for you..." Reeshie Hack Charlie smiled and wrapped his arm around her shoulders, holding her close. "Good," was all he could manage to say at that moment. He could feel his heart beating faster and he couldn't think of a happier moment in his life.
"Tangel... I... I normally act, aloof and distant towards people. I don't think that's going to change," he confessed with a little sigh. "But," he quickly added, "I'm not going to act like that towards you. Heh, I'm not really sure I could if I wanted to."Kylinari Tangel giggled at that and nuzzled herself against his chest, homing in on his heartbeat. "I normally act like.... well... like me!" she giggled again. "I'm very open and carefree." Her nose scrunched softly as she thought. "And I'm not one to usually stay in one particular place for so long... but..." She looked up at him with her warm violet-grey eyes. "when around you, my body seems to have made an exception..." she giggled again then winked. She was a playful little thing. Reeshie Hack "Oh, really? Well, then. I feel special," Charlie replied rubbing his nose agaainst hers like he had sometimes seen Merlin do to Nimue.
"I'm glad we can be each other's exceptions," he added with a smile as he looked rather fondly into her eyes. His bright gree eyes warmed with what could only be affection as he look down at her. "You know, you have beautiful eyes." Kylinari "Thank you! Yours are rather handsome as well!" She purred as she blushed and nuzzled against him some more. She had run out of things to say as it again appeared that the moment needed no words.
She smiled as a few moments flitted by and the same butterfly returned to bother them for only a minute - landing on her ear for a few soft flaps before fluttering away again. She giggled softly at the feeling then turned to look up at him again. "Tell me... Do you like to swim?" she asked. The day was slowly growing warmer and the water before them was starting to look welcoming. Reeshie Hack "Yeah, actually. When you normaly live on an island, swimmings kind of a given," Charlie replied understanding what she was getting at. He stood and helped her to her feet, taking off his headphones and hanging them on a branch.
"Do you like to swim?" he asked, tilting his head slightly.Kylinari She giggled and took his hand to help stand herself up. She soon followed his example of hanging her own headphones up on a branch. "I live on an Island too..." she winked and touched her nose to his quickly before walking into the water and diving under.
She swam a short distance then resurfaced with a turn to smile at him. "It feels good out here!" she giggled, then waved for him to do the same. "C'mon in!" Reeshie Hack Charlie took a running dive into the water and slid in without even a splash. Using his tail as a rudder, he was soon in front of her and touched his nose to hers again.
"Reesh says there's more otter in me than cat," he said and twitched his nose a little as if he had whiskers to twitch. He reached up and tugged on one of his ears. "Though, I like these kinda ears better than little otter ears," he said with a little laugh.Kylinari Tangel giggled and splashed a small wave over in his direction. "Back home, inbetween the two islands is Twighlight Lagoon. Delorian is a Dragon who lives there and he's the one who taught me how to dive!"
She winked then made a quick lick against his cheek before diving under again. This time, her tail moved much like a sidewinder under the water, helping her "snake" her way further down as she held her breath. Once she got a good 7 to 8 feet below, she turned to look up at Charlie, a few bubbles escaping her nose. Reeshie Hack Charlie dived after her, using his tail like a dolphin might. His paws were cupped for lack of webbing and blew a couple of bubbles at her, tilting his head as if to ask what she was waiting for.Kylinari She smiled and allowed a few more bubbles leave her before she turned again, diving deeper.
It was only a few more feet to the bottom and she immediately grabbed up something that looked like a rock. She smiled at it, grabbing up another very similar to it, then quickly scavenged for a long thin rock. Or just something with a large edge.
She gave a quick twirl in place - almost like a summersault within the water - and turned with a grin at Charlie before pointing up and pushing off the lake bed to rocket herself to the surface with her findings. Reeshie Hack Charlie followed her, surfacing beside her. "What do you have there?" he asked, tilting his head slightly. Water dripped from his nose and ear tips and beaded on his fur. He thought she looked even more beautiful with the crystal droplets sparkling on her fur like diamonds, but he couldn't bring himself to say so.Kylinari She held up two of the rock-like things and smiled. "Fresh water Oysters." she purred then giggled. "Have you ever opened one before?" she asked, halfway back peddling towards the shore again. Reeshie Hack Charlie shook his head and smoothly swam back towards shore. He climbed out of the water, shook himself, and helped her out. "I've had saltwater clams before and a lot of exotic fish, but never oysters. Are they good?" he asked, tilting his head slightly as he looked at the clam-like thing.Kylinari Tangel giggled and welcomed his help. She only set the items she carried down long enough to shake herself off before settling down again. She patted the terra beside her for him to sit as she picked them back up and smiled. "They taste a lot like the clams, I think... Only... I little less salt involved, of course..." she nodded and tried to split one open with the thin and sharp edge of the rock she had found. "Delorian showed me this trick too. And... Oysters hold something special within..." she half whispered, finally prying the two shells apart with the thinner side of the rock.
It wasn't completely open, as the muscle was being rather rebellious, but Tangel smiled and turned where she sat to face Charlie again. "Here... Hold out your hand..." she purred, readying to open the Oyster to show off the surprise. Reeshie Hack Charlie raised an eyebrow, sitting beside her and holding out his paw. He was rather curious to know what kinda of surprise could be in the hard shell. "If you need help, I could try and open it," he said when he saw her struggling a little to pry it open. He'd had to pry open clams before, it couldn't be that much different.Kylinari Tangel wasn't one to give up, but before she could shake her head as an answer, there came a small snap from between the two shells and a pearl landed softly into his paw. She gave a joyouse smile at that and giggled.
"Usually, the bigger the Oyster, the bigger the pearl..." she nodded then set to work on opening the other for herself. She had left the already open oyster beside him to taste test when he wanted. Reeshie Hack Charlie turned the pearl over in his hand. "I've heard of these before... Some of the giant clam have big ones in them, but I don't have the heart to force them open," he said looking at the purplish gleam.
"Do you like pearls, Tangel?"Kylinari Tangel giggled, opening her own oyster and nibbled at the meat inside of the two shells. "I do!" she smiled, her drying tail whipping about behind her. "Pearls are very pretty... Delorian said each little pearl is special, but he... kind of hesitated when I asked him why..."
She nibbled some more from her oyster again, halfway nuzzling against Charlie in the process. "What about you? Do you like them?" Reeshie Hack Charlie tried the oyster, finding that it wasn't as salty as a clam, but not bad. "It tastes good. And, yeah, I guess. They're really pretty," he said, then looked down at her with a smile. "Not as pretty as you are, though," he added, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and handing her the freshwater pearl. He made up his mind to get her something, something with pearls and just as pretty as she was. Reesh would know, she was good with pretty stuff.Kylinari She purred and nuzzled against his fur. She was so content right now that she couldn't even describe it! Her tail continued to swish back and forth behind them as she finished her own oyster and set the shells to the side, taking the pearl back and looking at it closer. It was that soft white color that most pearls had and she smiled at it, soon wrapping her paw around it and holding it to her chest as she leaned against Charlie's chest.
"What do you like to do in your free time?" she asked, trying to make conversation. "Other than be alone, of course?" Reeshie Hack "Read sometimes. I like to think about things, too. I used to try and draw, but I realized I wasn't very good. That's Sabine. She says I may not be able to draw like her, but I swim better than anyone. I do that a lot," Charlie answered, rubbing her arm absently.
"On the side farthest from Gambino, there's a long coral reef. I go swimming there, to look at all the different creatures. Sometimes, I bring a couple back. In my room, Reesh put a large aquarium that takes the place of one of the walls. So I bring one back every so often and put it in there," he explained. "Maybe I can show you the reef sometime. You can see the big clams."
