I recently started doxepin, as I mentioned in my intro post. I'm hoping the dry mouth will go away, but the first night on this dose (100 mg) it was so bad it woke me up. I didn't wake up from it last night, but in the mornings I have it bad. It's there during the day, too--I can barely eat crackers and I'm constantly sipping water anyways. Does anyone know of any ways to counteract this? I have dry mouth gum, but my main concern is while I'm asleep, and I can't chew gum or hold ice in my mouth then... sweatdrop

hmm.. i get dry mouth too but it's not that bad. usually i just drink water and chew gum and it goes away. and i never have problems with it at night. maybe you can ask your doctor about changing your medication to something that does not list dry mouth as a side effect? that seems a little drastic but if the dry mouth is bothering you that much i think it's worth it to switch.

most side effects of meds are gone after a time between 1 to 3 months...
water is ok but it doesnt help with the whole mucous situation...try having some warm tea, with sugar n lots of lemon, it soothes the dryness and irritation...
there are saline type sprays u can get from a pharmacy...they help moisturise the tissues in the mouth n throat

barbsy most side effects of meds are gone after a time between 1 to 3 months... Cool, I figured it would get better. I've been popping hard sugarless candy, (yay sweet'n'low coffee flavors!) which seems to help a lot, and drinking more water or tea, which I should be doing anyways 3nodding
