i just thought we needed a page on the 4th of july that gave the holiday a purpose.

post the names of any soldier you know for prayer intentions--i will personally pray for them, along with anyone who feels like doing so.

i also ask you to remember the fallen warriors and vets still alive today; post their names as well.

feel free to tell us their rank, regiment, etc., and/or the war they served in.

thank you.

I know I have not posted in this guild in quite some time, and I know this thread is a bit old, but this post will make up for my long absense from the guild and mark the begining of my return...

I have a buddy named Jonathan Johnson--a friend of friends. I met him about 2 years ago. He is about the same age as me and a pretty cool guy. Everyone who knows him, from what I have seen, holds a great deal of respect for him. When I saw him just after his enlistment, he had returned to visit my family and I as a PFC, and his body had changed dramatically as a result of his training, obviously... Since his joining the Army, I have taken a liking to Jonathan, along with the rest of my family. Though I have only seen him a couple of times, I feel that he and I are quickly starting to become close buddies. I don't get to see him often because he is usually away on military matters, traveling all over the country, but it'd be nice to hang out with him. Ahem, sorry to ramble... sweatdrop

Anyways, the whole point of this post is that my buddy PFC Jonathan Johnson will be deployed with his unit to Iraq soon to go on humvee patrols with the infantry. We all know Iraq is a mess and that war is Hell, and well, being that I've started to become close friends with this fellow, I am rather worried about him and do not want him to leave. I understand that he is a soldier and must do his duty, but having a friend go to war is never easy to deal with. sad He's only a year younger than me--19 years old. Fortunately, I was able to give PFC Johnson my e-mail address when he visited my house last night so that he and some of the guys in his unit may keep in touch with me via e-mail and letters, because I want to do all I can to keep up the morale of our troops. I ask that everyone say a prayer for my buddy and hope that he returns home safely so that he and I can get to know each other better and be together alongside our families and other friends... sad
