I'm in search of a woman (between the ages of 20 and 35) with schizophrenia that might be interested in being the subject of a profile about the disease.

I'm posting this on the behalf of Holly Auer, a medical journalist and full-time health reporter at The Post & Courier in Charleston, SC. She is looking for some potential sources for a story about young women with schizophrenia that she's working on for "Glamour" magazine! She will interview her sources over the phone and email, and depending on where they live and what kind of length she's given for the story, she might come once to interview them in person. If you're interested, please contact Holly right away, as she wants to get started within the next couple of weeks. The following is what she wrote to me about this opportunity:

So much media coverage of schizophrenia and bipolar has a negative slant; there's too much focus on mentally ill criminals or the homeless, and very little emphasis on real people who are coping with their disease and finding ways to get on with their lives despite it. We'd really like this story to shed light on those types of people, and help women to understand more about the disease and how it's dealt with by the medical/psychiatric community today.

HOW TO APPLY:
Note: You must be willing to have your real, full name and photograph published.

If you could send me a short little synopsis about you -- full name, educational background, location, story of how your symptoms began/how you were diagnosed, what your treatment has been like so far (both good and bad), hobbies, anything you'd like people to know about the disease, etc. -- that would be great.
