Author Notes
Alucard is not the Hellsing's or the Castlevania's Alucard, it is merely a name. I began to speculate about vampires and brewed a scientific explanation about the disease called 'vampirism.'

Prologue

It's commonly said, what goes around comes around. A saying that continues to inspire generations of people to believe that what you do, will happen to you. It's something like that. Something will happen though, something that came around, before anything went around.

"No, I'm telling you that you're not suppose insert morphine," the brown haired man pointed to his friends. His skin was pale, and his eyes were a blend of green and blue. "Now why shouldn't I?" A female with dark black hair snapped at the male. "Patients before surgery take antosephine, antosephine and morphine becomes a poison that sends the patient into cardiac arrest," the man bit his pen with a cunning smirk. "Brilliant!" The professor shouted out loud as he approached the station. "Alucard," he pointed to the man with the brown hair, "are brilliant! Leave now! Enjoy your day off now!" Alucard with a smile packed his things and left towards the door with his hand in the air waving at the class.

Alucard was one of the brightest students at Union University. Only being 26 years old age, he was about to finish his internship eventhough it has been a year since he started it. His body wasn't one that would makes girls squeal, but his body was a semi-muscular built. Despite his best efforts, he was never the star at sports and will most likely never will be. Alucard's family history is not quite an ordinary one. His father was murdered before he was born by no good rotten punks; he was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. His mother raised him single-handedly and has so far done an excellent job. Living together, the Farhenheits have lived peacefully so far and intend to keep it that way. But his mother died a year ago after her battle with cancer.

"Hey Al!" A female voice shouted behind Alucard. He turned quickly as he messenger bag glided across the air hiting himself on his leg. Grunting a little bit, he saw who was calling him. "Caitlin!" He waved his hands back at her who was dashing madly towards him. "Can you tell me why are you so smart?" She finally caught up to him. "I dunno, tell me why you're so stupid." Caitlin smacked Alucard's arm and blushed as she hugged her book. They both started to walk across the pavement until they reached a parking lot.

Caitlin is one of Alucard's most oldest friends. They had been friends ever since their freshman year in high school. Caitlin always had dark black hair with streams of blue flowing through it. Her height was just slightly shorter than Alucard himself. Alucard and Caitlin always have their rather large differences, but for some reason they always stayed friends.

"So, tell me what you do today?" Caitlin brushed her shoulder against Alucard's. He only smiled, "I got hit on by two girls and one gay guy! Score!" He joked as he thrust his left arm towards him as if it was an accomplishment. Caitlin brushed his shoulder again while laughing hysterically. "Have you seen Sharin with that guy?!" She shouted out loud as he eyes widened. "Yeah! I mean," Alucard coughed, "it's just sad to see her with that fool." Caitlin nodded along, "she could do much more better." Alucard took his keys out of his pocket and opened the door of his car. They both entered his car while laughing as they always have ever since he bought they heap of junk. Just because it was an old KIA, well...it's just funny somehow.

Throughout the entire ride, they were just seeing things they heard from the radio. Screaming and shouting on top of their lungs just repeating the lyrics and laughing the moment the songs were over. As insane as they were, they were certainly not; just extremely uplifting in a spontaneous way. "Alright then, I will see you at dinner with Eliss," Alucard stopped infront of an apartment door. "You two getting serious now aren't you?" Caitlin smirked as she got out of the car. "It's getting warmer, eight!" He shouted as he drove off.

Alucard arrived at his house to see the large empty home. It was still hard for him not being welcomed by his mother anymore. Losing someone is the hardest thing in the 'verse. Despite the fact that he had a year's worth to heal; the gap would just not close.

---

Dinner was always on occasion for Alucard. He would always host his dining table for two other people. One chair is always reserved for Caitlin and the other is always opened for a guest that would stop by, tonight's guest was Eliss.

"Just trying to get an interview is so hard!" Caitlin laughed as she finished another glass of wine. "I think we need to hold the bottle off of you now," Alucard smiled as he slowly retreated the bottle of wine from Caitlin's hand. "Well they're all just a bunch of assholes that just say, 'no comment' I mean what the hell is that?! Stupid mother fu..." Caitlin finally fell from her chair. Alucard and Eliss peeked over the table to see Caitlin's lifeless body twich. "I thought that'll never happen," Eliss laughed as she took a sip of her wine.

Eliss is Alucard's 'current' girlfriend. She has a 'strawberry' blond hair that goes all the way to her shoulder, her skin is tanned that is complimented by her deep green eyes. Eliss excelled in human anatomy and micro biology. Just like Alucard, she is one of the brightest students of Union University. They met in the library during an unfortunate accident. Apparently the library's bookshelves can fall on you if you climb them. Eliss was the one that climbed it, Alucard was the one who got at the lower columns. They both ended up the hospital, Alucard got a broken hand while Eliss suffered a broken arm. That was a year ago.

"So now that she's wasted," Eliss placed her glass on the table. "Why don't we have, a little fun?" Alucard lifted an eyebrow and placed his glass as well. "Alright then." Eliss gave him a quick kiss on his lips and ran upstairs with incredible speed. Alucard picked the unconsious Caitlin and placed her on his couch, after that he dashed up stairs not thinking anymore.

---

"So where's your girlfriend?" Caitlin sipped a cup of coffee. "She's offworld right now, she's having a trip to meet the Quarm." Caitlin immidieately choked on her muffin. "The Quarm? And she's doing a story on who again?" Alucard chuckled, "Lee Johnston." She instantly rose from her seat, "no way! Lee Johnston is just so...rawr!" Alucard laughed as he took the dirty dishes and set them in his dishwasher. "Aren't you worried Al?" He turned around with a puzzled face. "What do you mean worried?" "I mean like, she's meeting all these 'fine' people with her new journalism career, don't you think of-" "Infidelity?" Alucard continued her sentence. "Sometimes yeah, but I trust Eliss."

In reality Caitlin really didn't like Eliss. She always found her to be so righteous and she always have an image of a saint. Not that it's wrong or anything, but it was just so strange. Eliss isn't completely honest, Caitlin knows that. There's a dark hole that always hovers above her head. Alucard as well is also a very trusting person. Caitlin, for the sake of Alucard, decided not to say a word. "Alright then pumpkin," Caitlin wiped her mouth with her hand. "I'm bound to work, later handsome." Alucard waved at her, "later."

---

With the passing of Alucard's mother, he always found his house to be more quiet than ever. He found someway to get a more company; a roomate. Alucard invited Morgan, an old friend, to live with him until she can get back on her feet. Recently losing a job, Alucard decided to be the nice guy and offer shelter.

"Thank you so much again Al!" Morgan jumped into Alucard's arms. "It's alright Morgan, stay as long as you like," Alucard patted her cheek. "You are too nice you know that?" She retreated back a step. Alucard then turned his head, he saw an abnormality with her. "Why's your teeth so long?" There was vampire like fangs that were visible through her smile. "I dunno, maybe I'm a vampire," she teased him as she clinched her teeth. "Maybe I'll sneak into you room and bite you at night." Alucard laughed out loud, "you do that."

This is how Alucard goes through his transformation and slowly realizes of what he is truly becoming

Chapter 1:
Bending Light

It wasn't often when Alucard gets sick, these are one of the unfortunate days when he does get sick. When he gets sick, he would be on the 'brink of death' sick status.

Moaning and groaning are the common symptoms to catch when one is severly ill. Alucard's moans could be heard a mile away. A fever had struck him badly, mucus would constantly pour from his nose, his eyes were incredibly red and looked like they were about to fall, his coughs were so soar it would make an ordinary person itch.

"You don't have to do this Morgan," Alucard sturggled just to get those words out. Morgan grabbed empty plates and placed them on a tray. "Come on, you're just a sack of goo laying on a bed. If it weren't for me, you'd probably in a coffin now." Alucard turned away from her, "amen to that." Morgan laughed as she placed both her hands on the side of her hips. "Listen, I'm going to Union to get the last of my stuff with my sister, so just call me or Caitlin if you're about to die ok?" Alucard waved his hand signalling 'whatever.'

Alucard has never been this sick before, it was like his head was being run over by a truck non-stop. His body was playing tricks on him. His outer skin felt so cold, the inside of him was being cooked. A pine-cone was stuck inside his throat, he felt better without a head. Alucard got a dozen pills in a dozen colors that had already gone down his throat. It's a miracle that he has survived for these last three days.

---

Alucard woke up to the sound of the front door, that and his head was boiling. "Hello?" He coughed the second it left his mouth. "Alucard?" An unknown female voice came from the entrance. "Who's ther-" coughing struck him again. "Hey there," a teenager came to his door. "I'm Haile, Morgan's sister." Haile was 26 years of age, she was Morgan's older sister. She has long black hair that run to her elbows, Haile was a doctor at Capital Area. Incredibly smart and beautiful, she did attract attention just by walking.

"Haile?" Alucard wasn't able to get a good look at her. "Yeah! I'm just dropping stuff off here, Morgan told me to give you your medicine too." He choked on his own cough, "no medicine, I'm healthy." Haile got pills and kneeled at Alucard's bedside. "Come on now, I got to work in an hour!" She, without hesistation, threw the pills down into his throat. Trying to spit them out, she placed her hand over his mouth stopping him. After minutes of struggling, he finally swallowed them. "Good boy, get well!" Haile ran out of his room and the hearing of the door slaming was heard distinctly.

---

"Try this." "No you shouldn't." "That wouldn't work." "You can't do this." "Don't do it." "Alright then." "Feel better."

Alucard jumped from his bed and fell on the ground. Immidieately, he looked up from the floor and saw the sun. The sun's rays felt like it was burning him, he crawled from his place and got into the shade. The moment he got into the shade he felt better instantly. That's strange, he did feel better. Just by overnight, he felt healthier than a horse. He dashed from his room down to his kitchen, down there was Morgan and Caitlin.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Caitlin munched on a piece of toast. "I feel great!" Alucard couldn't stop moving while he was standing. "Are you on Stems or something?" Morgan sipped from her coffee mug. He shook his head in disaproval. "I just feel better!" Caitlin waved her finger at Alucard, "you got something on your neck." He felt his neck and felt two small wound marks on it. "Did you get mosquito bites? Or you got pimples there?" Morgan walked away with her mug. "Neah, it's nothing, I'm going to shower!" Alucard dashed from the kitchen and made it to his shower.

Alucard went outside never refreshed, but the moment he stepped into the sun's rays he went grew tired in a way. It was like the sun was blinding him, he never experienced more discomfort. His skin was beginning to get hot, it felt like he was about to get on fire. Alucard didn't move because he was trying to examine why this was happening to him. He wasn't going on fire, but he was still was feeling hot. He finally dodged the light and hid under a tree. The shady part was a big difference than that of the light. He ran from shade to shade until he made it to his car.

"Are you okay?" Caitlin saw Alucard arrive for dinner. "No, the sun's just killing me." She sipped a glass of water and looked at him confused, "what you becoming sick again?" Alucard sat on his chair, "I'm ok in the shade, but direct sunlight just burns me." Caitlin just shook her head, "neah, maybe it's just temporary." Alucard nodded and grabbed a menu. "What are we orderin'?"

---

For next few weeks the sun continued to torment Alucard. He felt like he was being cooked, but it wasn't strong enough to take him out of his misery. Whenever he drank liquids, there was always a thirst that needed to be satisfied. He couldn't put his finger on it, he drank all sorts of liquids, but it never did satisfy him. He needed something new, something sweet.

"You seem different these last few weeks," Morgan turned off the television. "You alright?" Alucard shook his head as he opened two bottles of beer. "No, I'm always thirsty and the sun's just killing me." Alucard approached Morgan, who was sitting comfortably on the couch, and handed her a beer while he sat as well. "It's just," he sipped, "something's weird." Morgan nodded her head, "neah, you're probably going through a mid-life crisis right now." Alucard laughed, "yeah, me."

Morgan turned her head and saw two rapiers on the wall. "What are does?" Alucard placed his bottle on the table in front of him, "does are Italian rapiers. Mother always said that father was great at fencing. I don't dare to pick them up, they're probably not real anyway." Morgan got off the couch and approached the rapiers that were crossed on the emblem. "Haile's really good at fencing, maybe she'll give you a few pointers." Morgan grabbed the rapier's red hilt, and like a charm, it slid through the emblem and free from its cage. "Ha!" Morgan pointed the rapier at Alucard, "they are real!" Alucard hit the blade to stop it from pointing at him, "careful with that, they are real." Morgan laughed as she slowly placed the rapier down to the table. "You should give Haile a ring, she's pretty good." Alucard chuckled, "I'm sure I will."

---

Another week flew by, and not a minute of the day Alucard could satsify his thrist or ease his pain due to the sun. It was like a curse that hit him ever since he gotten better. It was then when he noticed another symptom, his eyes were gradually losing it's color.

Alucard stared at the mirror. His eyes were not it's former blend of green and blue, but it was yellow. He wondered why his eyes were such a strange color. Was he sick again? He felt healthier than a horse. He never wore contacts and he was wearing any now. He began to grow in fear for himself, with all these sudden changes with his physical appearance, he wondered whether his mind was changing. It defintely frightened him, so he ran from his bathroom and seeked comfort.

"Hello father," Alucard said quietly in the confession booth. "It has been five months since my last confession." The father spoke spftly as well, "it's alright my son, please, tell me what is bothering you." Alucard wanted to say it, but there was an hesistation. "There's something wrong with me, I've been changing since last month, there's something wrong with me but I can't put my finger on it." The father was seen to nod his head. "It is alright my son, it is common to see change when a loved on has passed-" "It's not that," Alucard interrupted him. "I can walked through the sun directly anymore. I have a thirst no liquid can quench, my eyes have turned yellow." Alucard gazed through the booth's holes and saw the father. The father's eyes widened the moment he saw Alucard's eyes. "Leave now!" He shouted. "Leave!" Alucard completely confused now, "but, wh-" "Leave!" Without any further hesistation, Alucard stepped from the booth and away from the church.

---

Alucard was cooking dinner, as usual, but this time the meal would be for himself. Morgan had left off-world to visit family, Caitlin and Eliss on the meantime are leaving again to the Quarm. The house was empty again as usual. Chopping carrots, and meat Alucard was. Cooking made feel alright, like there was no worries from the world. But then it happened, a human weakness: mistakes. Alucard accidently cut his finger, the finger had a cut that blood poured from. On impulse he kissed the wound, but then his taste buds went wild. It was that sweet scent that he longed to squench his thirst with. He felt the sweet taste of blood on his lips that got him excited over it. Alucard continued to drain blood from his wound into his body, he couldn't stop, until he remembered his humanity.

"No!" Withdrew himself from his finger. Alucard's mouth was full of blood that slowly dripped to the floor. "No," he already knew his answer, "impossible!" He continued to deny it. "I'm not a vampire," but his enlarged fangs proved him wrong.

"This can't be."
